From the Messenger.....TEACHER ARRESTED - Derek B. Worlow, 32, a teacher at Bridgeport High School, was arrested today for one charge of sexual assault with a child and another charge of improper relationship between a student and teacher. The victim was 16 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. Worlow turned himself into authorities. He is in Wise County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

BUT-this guy, any teacher, who has a romantic relationship with a student should not be allowed to teach. It's emotionally brutal for the kid, and if the relationship is discovered, it is devestating for any younger siblings. Those poor kids feel like EVERY teacher and student is talking about them being the brother/sister of the kid involved with the teacher.
I just wish professional adults would think about the consequences their actions have on other people.
All I can say is that Derek Worlow is from a wonderful loving caring family and we do not know the details of this......and should not be jumping to conclusions. We will leave it to the lawyers to sort out. And they will.......for a nice fee!
This is so sad.
There are others who are sitting in Wise County Jail who are from nice families, as well!!!!! Fortunately, parents are not responsible for the choices their adult children make!

Dereck was not a coach at Bport High, tho he has coached before. He was a coach at Alvord and Chico. He was tired of coaching and took the Broadcast Journalism job at BHS. He comes from a great family, he's well known in the community. and this is just shocking to alot of people in Bport.
This is not the girl screaming wolf this is all her parents being parents-more parents need to check their childrens cell phone records and figure out who their kids are talking to *REALITY CHECK*

I do know Derek and he is a wonderful guy that made a poor decision, but so did the student. At that age you know what you're doing, so let's not pretend she is a "victim". She is the typical HS student that had a crush on an attractive, funny teacher that went too far. Yes, it was wrong for many reasons, but get real with your ridiculous comments that have no merit because you don't know the specifics. And should this happen to your child, it's because THEY pursue THEM...Just sayin...
Yeah he is a wonderful guy who is a sexual predator and for you to even say that it is the students fault makes you look and sound like an idiot! He is an adult and should have known better and he played games and messed with a 16 YEAR OLD GIRL!!!
