. . . but a garden hose hooked up to a fire hydrant seems like a bad idea. (On the square in Decatur -- it was already leaking big time.)

Speaking of "Leaking". Just got word while everyone is worried about Healthcare the new FCC Czar is attempting to tax the conservative radio stations $250 million a year in order to give that money to Public Radio to make it more "fair". Yep, there you go, nothing to worry about. If you suck the federal government is going to bail you out with money from companies that are successful and don't suck. Question is, are they going to do this for only companies that support their (Liberal Democratic) agenda or, are they going to make it "fair" for everyone? Now, this is second hand information so check it out for yourself.
Barry- You post a picture of a fire hydrant, nothing political about it, and the first post is political. Can't the haters give it a rest. It is only a fire hydrant. It does not have to do with Obama. It has to do with the City of Decatur.
Yes, it's been like that at least since we ate there Friday of last week. There was one on the corner of Walnut and State that leaked for over a month that got no attention. Granted, it didn't have a hose rigged up to it that ran down the street like this one does.
Why is that a bad idea? You need water and that's where it comes from. You can get the same amount of pressure as you would hooking up to your hydrant at home
Why isn't it a good idea? Where would they get their water? Get it free by hooking up a garden hose to the courthouse building? This is done all the time...contractors rent a water meter, hook it up to the nearest water hydrant and buy water from the city.
Here's what I'm ticked off about: DISD has had all summer to get a new AC system installed at Carson Elementary. This was a system that was desperately needed, because the previous one broke down several times each academic year. The contractor has apparently been told they have until the start of school to get it working. School teachers were required to report this week in preparation for the new school year. So teachers are up there in the 95 deg heat trying to get rooms ready, have meetings, etc in preparation for the arrival of their students. Their "Meet the Teacher" night is tomorrow night, and folks, there will be no AC. Nice impression. Also interesting is that the AC is somehow miraculously working in the office of Carson...just the office, nowhere else. The facilities administration at DISD is so extremely poor. It enrages me as a taxpayer to see us vote bonds through to build schools only to see them cared for in this fashion (and yes, I did vote in favor of the new elementary)...and more importantly, to have such little regard for the professionals responsible for the education of our children. This district needs to get it together...or they forget getting a vote in favor of a new football stadium (which is far less of a priority in my mind anyway) at least from me.
3.5 million for a bus barn and you are worried about a metroplex company leaking drops of a precious resource. Go green and forget the the hometown worries, we will all be saved with nice clean crosswalks.

Can you say "gray duct tape" ?
Your tax dollar at work.

Really 11:23, ask the water dept. how much the budget has been cut. It isn't just an Obama thing, it is a sign of what is coming our way. C.O.C.
I don't believe it's a leak. I think "Clifford the Big Red Dog" was on the square and left his mark.

No
It is only a fire hydrant.
Wrong, it's an allegory.
It does not have to do with Obama.
Obviously it does and you are wrong again.
It has to do with the City of Decatur.
That's what you think? Your world is very, very small then.
come on people, sometimes a fire hydrant is just a fire hydrant.
tell that to a dog
Why don't we just ask the dogs what they think?
I did.
They think we are stupid.
The oilfield guy from Stallion was so pissed off at having to wait 4 hours to fill up his truck.
Is Squeaky Fromme behind this?
Wyld Stallyons?
They Rawk
