The Speech

Ok, I know a few of you watched it and have some hot opinions about it. My Random Thoughts:
  • Her "cut government spending" schtick is pretty good
  • Her rhetoric came off much harsher tonight than I expected. And she might want to be careful with that: Biden could really clean her clock in a debate simply because he's better at it.
  • She stretched the truth a little bit ("He's worried that we won't be reading [the terrorists] their rights" and that "taxes will go up with [Obama].")
  • "What's the difference between a soccer mom and a pit bull? Lipstick." Some speech writer needs to be fired tomorrow for borrowing jokes from the 1990s.
  • She comes across as confident, but I'm not sure why. Kind of like a first round draft pick who hasn't played a down yet.
  • But she's probably fun to hang out with. And she's hot.
  • With today's greeting on the runway, McCain has met her three times.
  • There is no question: The conservative masses will love her.
  • Edit: I'll be dang. They had BabyDaddy up on stage with the pregnant daughter. This morning, WBAP's Mark Davis suggested that should happen, and I thought "no way." But they did. And, I'll agree, it worked.

Obama Comes of confident but what experience does he have? 4 years a senator? give me a break

"The conservative masses will love her."

And that's all it's going to take to blow your boy back to Chicago (and by "your" I mean you anonymous liberals + BG :))

Remember the old saying: the most dangerous place to be on election day is between a conservative and a polling place. That'll be even truer (is that a word?) more true? this year.

pure fluff but the heartland is already in love with her so what does it matter

I like her, but I want her to have her own talk show not live in the white house.

"Masses will love her." Same song, different verse....first one being that which has been sung by the lib.'s on behalf of Saint Obama.

Too bad neither of your guys are "hot."

Rudy has a nice smile.

Rudy has a lapel pin.

Cindy has the right Barbara pearls.

The whole thing was scripted, as usual (Dems, too) - lights, camera, action. Pan here after "this line" - pan here after "that line".....

Palin spent a lot of time on family values and bragging on McCain. What about the issues lady?

Time will tell.

Did anybody notice how mundane and quiet Mike Huckabee and Newty Gingrich were?

They looked SO bored.

Probably were.

She did talk issues...taking big government out of our pockets, keeping the Arabs from making us dance for them, really supporting our troops, stopping wasteful spending in DC, enviornment, but not at the expense of becoming a weak nation....she kicked ass and EVERYBODY knows it. What McCain has done is called a coup. She is unknown-doesn't have a bunch of corporate or special (NCAA) interests trying to get in her back pocket. I think her speech, which, by the way, she helped in constructing, made history. And even if she had not wrote or thought any of that up, a person who doesn't walk that walk could not have given a speech like that with the resolve she did. I'm impressed with her. Finally, someone who comes along that isn't afraid to choose a side of the fence to stand on and not pander to polls. The Clintons are passe' and Obama is smoke.

Sarah delivered a great speech!!!!

Rudy delivered a great speech too.......and George Stephanapolous on ABC thought it was "nasty"........AWW........POOR SHAME......CRY BABY LIBERAL!!!

Some big liberal (Paul something, I forget his last name, but he worked for Clinton) described Zell Miller's talk at the 2004 Republican convention as "hate speech".......I keep waiting for some misbegotten liberal to apply the same term to a speech at this convention, LOL!

Did anyone see the 4-year-old daughter in the audience holding the down syndrome baby during Palin's speech??

I was afraid she was going to accidentally drop him!!

I really like the idea of a hot lady Vice President who I think could give Obama a good old fashion ass whippin...literally!

She verbally tore him a new one while making fun of him...I loved it!

She may have "stretched" the truth a time or two, but she was right on the money when talking about him writing 2 books but not having time to write any significant legislation. Oh, and Obama's decision making ability is consistant with his voting record...a decisive "present" vote...130 times! How can you change anything when you don't stand or vote for anything???

The death blow was inferring that Obama was two-faced...sucking up to the liberals in San Francisco by downing us gun-toting, conservative, religious zealots he patronized a week earlier.

So, other than his books, would someone please tell me exactly what Barack O'bama has actually achieved for our nation?!?!?!?

I believe manure has more potential to benefit our nation than O'Bama does!

Duh...Issues

like drilling now and cheaper energy?

like the war in Iraq?

like the graft and corruption in goverment?

like raising/lowering taxes?

like getting government out of the way of free enterprise?

like character and stability?

Maybe you heard a different speech than I did...

BTW, where does O'Bama stand on the war in Iraq...or any of these issues for that matter? Don't tell me what you think, tell me what you know! Give sources...

I can't wait for the VP debates. She will have Bidens testicles in a claw grip till his hair plugs pop out. God bless her. The best man on either ticket turned out to be a woman. According to the dinosaur obammy media, she is only five abortions away from being President.

Anonymous said...

Barry, you wouldn't be whistling by the graveyard would you? "The masses will love her". DUH, it's an election. Does majority rules ring a bell? Also, your condescending comment about the "masses" reveals alot about you. You obviously feel that the "masses" don't have your intelligence to understand the issues. It's a shame that we have to subject our country to the trials of an election, when we would be so much better off to allow the psuedo-intellectuals like yourself to guide the mentally challenged "masses" to higher ground.

Slick Willie had met Al Gore only twice before choosing him as his running mate. Once while vetting his picks and once while Gore was seeking the presidency he flew to Arkansas to get Billy boys endorsement. Oh by the way, Billy refused to endorse him. So can the argument that McCain had only met with her once.

Brilliant!! Love her!!

Did any of ya'll count how many times any of the 4 speakers mentioned George Bush? I counted ZERO! The election is still about the very failed Bush policies (which McSame supported over 90% of the time).

BTW, if McCain is the wonderful person with the wonderful war record, why didn't we elect him 8 years ago when he still commanded his mental faculties?

I have no problem with a woman in the White House, I'm female also. I do have a problem with a person running that has no clue as to just why we are in Iraq, what the problem with Russia is about, and has never been out of our country. She just lacks the foreign policy details that's needed for this job. She could be Mother Teresa of mothers, but that doesn't make you qualified to be VP of my country. JMO

And can't we get someone that talks their own words and not a speech written for them? I can deliver a good speech, that doesn't qualify me for VP of anything.

Hope all is well with you and yours,

Taking out big government, getting energy prices down, defending the country from terrorism, (Pre-911 Bush had terrorism down about #7 or so on his "important" stuff according to a Time Magazine article, getting the economy going, are problems that Republicans have created and/or allowed to happen. I laugh when Republicans talk about "Big Government" and getting rid of it when Bush and the Republicans exploded it to super proportions. And when Republicans talk about "Democrats taking American Rights Away" is another guffaw. Who likes to take rights and liberties away? Republicans even hate the ACLU that is dedicated to preserving and protecting individual rights. How about the Nation in severe debt? What about a country in war, and the leaders stress tax cuts? What about a war and the civilians at home have no sacrifice like rationing fuel or food and goods for the cause? Even McCain wanted the convention toned down for Gustav, but the first night big parties were going on from big business lobbyist and big business/political favor fever was in the air. Hurricane? What Hurricane? Oh, Hurricane the drink that was being sucked down hard while Republicans were selling out our country to Big Business Interest.

Gay Republicans endorse McCain

By Ed Stoddard Tue Sep 2, 5:02 PM ET

ST. PAUL (Reuters) - The Log Cabin Republicans endorsed Arizona Sen. John McCain’s bid for the presidency on Tuesday, four years after the gay Republican group refused to back President George W. Bush’s bid for reelection.

While Obama and Biden stuck to disagreeing on the issues with the Repubs, Palin was mean and disrespectful of Obama. That is typical of the Bushies and a real turn-off.

She made fun of Obama being a community organizer 20 years ago????? Isn't that about as grass-roots as it gets?

I watched Palin and left with a bad taste in my mouth. She is arrogant and disrepectful.

Anonymous said...

It's amusing the way the Republicans complain about the media. Boo-hoo. The Palins are the ones that released the info about their daughter and I haven't heard anyone on either side say that that would make a bit of difference on how they voted. The only thing it brings up politically is "Abstinence only" doesn't work.

Republicans - "There is no problem at all in the last 8 years. It's just the media. The only problem USA has is the big bad liberal media. It's the media, It's the media."

Whatever.

EIGHT IS ENOUGH.

Anonymous said...

she, along with mccain, are going to need that teleprompter come debate time --- because both will get eatin alive.

Anonymous said...

WOW!!! It is pretty amazing how quickly the republicans came together after McCain selected Palin to be his running mate! I think they have forgotten that McCain is still on the ticket as the president. An earlier post even talked about voting for Palin in four years to be the next president. All this tells me is that the Republican party doesn't have much confidence in McCains ability to run this country. And what is even more scary is they feel like a person who has been a mayor of a small town and a govenor of a small state for two years is more qualified to run this country than a man that has been around for twenty plus years(McCain).

Although she did talk about issues thats all she did, TALK TALK TALK. Talk is cheap, hell I can tell you all the same things she did, but that doesn't mean I can get them done. I want to see how she plans to accommplish these issues, not just speak from a teleprompter that has a speech running that was written for here from the same people that write our current presidents speeches. The one thing that comes to mind is PUPPET!!!!

Go Obama Bieden!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Here's what sucks for the Liberals. They have a sneaky suspicion McCain and Palin are going to do just what they say they will. They realize they (Liberals) cannot argue with them on issues. The Liberals say "I didn't hear her talk about issues, where's their plan?" I would ask the same of the Liberals, where's Obama's plan? I beleive one of the best parts of her speech last night was when she said Obama has written his book but never written an important piece of legislation. That was classic. Libs want to criticize her for using the teleprompter, this tells one what idiots they are. Everyone uses the teleprompter and Obama can't even get his facts straight unless he has one, that goes back to the experience part. Libs want to talk about the puppets, glitz and crap from last night. One question, what in the hell were the Dems doing at Mile High stadium last week. Holy sh-t people wake up!! And yes, the Libs believe they are smarter than everyone else and they need to tell us all how to live because we're not as intelligent as they. Bottom line, there are more conservative people in this country, Republican and Democrat alike, than there are liberals. Therefore, McCain and Palin will be in the White House, Palin will prove she's up to the job and Palin and Hillary will be fighting it out in 2012. However, if that 12-12-12 thing-a-majig happens I guess it won't matter. Can anyone tell me when the media will began asking Biden about his son's indictments regarding Hedge Funds. I figured since they've done all they could to trash Palin they would start on Biden. Thank you for your time.

Did anyone see the lady getting escorted out by security??? What happened???

A star is born. Sarah Palin proved last night that she will be the fresh breeze that blows the Dems away. I think she will do very well in the small-town Texas coffee shops---so well that I think Texas will remain solidly in the GOP column come November along with a lot of "fence sitters" in many borderline states.

Anonymous said...

And in other news...Playboy called Palin to find out if she's up to the job. She's looking to her teleprompter for a sharp reply...she's still looking fa, fa, for her answer. America may love her. Honestly I would only love to see her neighkid. Yes, I would vote for Palin. Playboy bunny of the month! Bless her heart.

Yikes, this just in...

John McCain's presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit against the National Enquirer over a print edition story the tabloid ran today alleging that Gov. Sarah Palin has had an extramarital affair with her husband's business partner.

The allegation would normally be dismissed by political observers as the random musings of a supermarket tabloid -- indeed, the McCain campaign said as much in its statements on Wednesday -- except that the paper has built up a reservoir of legitimacy following its earlier reporting on the John Edwards affair.

A recent poll stated that 80 percent of white GOP voters lust for Palin, 14 percent lust for McCain.

Do us all a favor - whip out your debit card and PURCHASE A CLUE! All the candidates use teleprompters and rehearsed speeches.
And what do you expect from someone giving a speech besides TALK! That's another word for speech, you know.
I'm not trying to make a case for the Republicans (they manage alright), just apply your rant to your candidates from the DNC last week. The only difference is they don't have a "she" on the ticket

11:17, If you would pay attention you would know that McCain has said he only wants to run for one term. Thats public knowledge. They all use teleprompters, Republicans and Democrats alike, Obama can't function without one. If you would listen to his speeches like the convention he does well, he has a teleprompter. On the stump however, he's lost. Just listen to him sometime, uhm!! uhm!! uhm!!, "that's above my pay grade". As far as her speech, yes it was written by someone else but with her comments, ideas and input. I guess you think Obama and Biden don't have speech writers? At least Palin was the Mayor of a city and Govenor of a State, it's more than Obama can say. Besides she has made changes through legislation, Obama hasn't. It's always good to listen to both sides and pay attention. However, if you would like to see a change in the Beltway, it starts with telling Obama (Senator who's passed no legislation) and Biden (Senator who's never had a real job and you've paid his way) to hit the road. If someones going to stand up and make a speech, to a television audience, about it being time to get rid of big Government, special interest and the good ole boy system in Washington then they have my vote. That's where the change Obama talks about needs to start but he hasn't mentioned it as she and McCain have. The only change he has made, so far in his career, is the flag on his plane.

Stretched the truth?

Obama speaks often about the 'torture' issue and believes we can't afford to have it even LOOK like we engage in torture.

In a way this is true but, he's more worried about what some bozo in France thinks of us than doing what has to be done.

And we already know he wants to increase taxes on the "Wealthiest Americans"

I don't know about you but, I've had a lot of jobs and I've never worked for a poor person. Anyway, class warfare politics is bad business.
