Barry, take a picture of the City Council lady's sign at the house next to the Methodist church on First Street in Rhome. It says "WE ARE NOT ATHEISTS". LOL, pure blog gold!
I drove by after work and it was hard to tell how extensive the damage was, but it's bad. The fire started in the Motor Room (where the refridgeration compressors are) and spread across the back wall.
I predict they will be closed at least 2 weeks, probably longer.
In the meantime.... Thank you for shopping at your Hometown IGA!!!
i'm told smoke and water damage alone will total everything in the store, including all food, refrigeration equipment, electronics/lights, plus structural damage inside is extensive.
So....are they having a food sale this morning? Can they sell the stuff in their store before it all ruins? I'm loading up all my ice chests and heading that way.

Abuelos Mexican Food Embassy in Lubbock had a near scare Saturday night...Transformer blew in the back of the building, had to close for the remainder of the weekend. Fun stuff!!
I heard the B'port City Council rejected Brookshires. Maybe the fire at Diamond will make them finally clean that armpit of a store like it needed years ago?
I dont know how, but they said they would be reopening this evening!!....isnt there some health code violation permitting them from doing so...is there even a health inspector in these neck of the woods????
they could stay open and no one would even notice. nasty nasty. i will miss the friendly chedckers and sackers. they were very high class people. God Bless them all.
I know for a fact that the managers constantly lied to employees about getting raises. Sometimes this would go on for months before the employee finally quits, only to be replaced with another unsuspecting kid right away. GO BULLS !!!!!
