He Without Sin Cast . . .

For about five years now, those convicted of DWI (even those first time offenders who are worthy of probation) have been subject to a DPS "surcharge" of $1,000 per year for three years. That's over and above any criminal punishment for DWI -- it's an "administrative fee" that the idiots at DPS impose. Your penalty for not paying? DPS will suspend your license.

So why my brief rant? Because the champion of that law, State Rep. Mike Krusee, a Republican from Williamson County, was arrested this week for DWI.

Are you sure he's a Republican? Oh yeah, it's mentioned right after his name. Had he been a liberal weenie, his party affiliation wouldn't have been mentioned at all.

I'm thinking I'll hold off on paying my $1040 surcharge for the time being.

HaHa Hope he enjoys the taste of his own doing......

What an appalling situation. I was all ready to hear this fellow at a future meeting of the Wise County Republican women.

Uh oh - the party's image is slipping.

Wow - As I have stated before, If people do not change their behavior, they will eventually get caught. Regardless of who they are.

Hypocracy has know bounds.

And it doesn't stop at state borders. My son while in the Military stationed in California got stopped on base for DWI and had to pay the Texas surcharge because he was still using his Texas DL.

I just sent this E Mail to his office. Lets see if he answers? Any bets ????

Mr.Krusee:
I have just become aware of your recent arrest for DWI. You are a disappointment to the citizens of Texas and the people whom elected you.
It will be interesting to see if you have the intestinal fortitude to face the court system and the punishment you deserve.
If you have not already done so please find treatment for your alcoholism. If you need help please contact me and I will assist you.
Respectfully,
John Doe (name protected)

The DPS extortion of DWI convicted drivers? Don't know why we would be surprised. Their basic existance is on very shaky constituional grounds anyway. They can and will do whatever they want and will continue to do so until we stop them.
I read recently a post here that was probably an officer who said to the efect,"Every body claims to have had 2 beers. This is scientifically impossible due to..." This person can't really be blamed for his naivete`. He believes in a system he is a part of and trusts. I would have fell for the same line before being arrested for the same(a 3rd was actually poured for me though very little was drank over a 3 hour period)Bar owner was fighting mad over the deal. Multiple witnesses wanted to go to court with me etc. But in the officers partial defense I left a bar at 2 am and blew a .19. I thought the sobriety exercises were unusually long and varied. A cop friend said,"Oh they din't have what they needed on video to match the outrageous breathalyzer results, so they were trying to trip you up to bolster their case." The answer may have been less sinister. Maybe they were looking for something they thought really must be there.
Anyway, the imbicilic fees the DPS charges is indicative of a failure in our justice system that infects it from A to Z; so much so it won't be changed in our lifetimes- if ever. Our system isn't about justice, it's about vengeance.
We all inuitively understand there are few things in this world more dangerous than a man with nothing to lose, yet we'll tolerate thousands of these being mass produsced in an assembly line fashion-prison system. There is no such thing in this country as "paying your debt to society and go on to live your life" A record for whatever offense can haunt you in ways and times you can't imagine. Put a young adult down for selling pot and watch him come out a muderer or armed robber or dope cook(something they all CAN learn in prison-trades were often made for the training before the internet) Or this may happen soon after their release when he sees there is no reason to try to play the game by the rules anyway.
If our vengeful system took my ability to make a living today I can assure you the first thing I would do would be convert a space in my shop to grow lots of pot for sale. Never grown a single plant in my entire life but that is really the first thing that comes to mind. Why not buy 100lbs of pseudophed and chemicals to cook some meth? Maybe a nice chop shop for all the cars I steal? There's nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing left to lose.

Somebody please forward some info. on this goob to The Smoking Gun(thesmokingun.com). My Email isn't working. Man that would be most excellent. I looked but, didn't see anything there on him and you can bet if the same thing happened to you, he would want your mug there if it helped his political agenda.

Re: 11:11 I don't know if which political party's primary a person votes in is still public record but I once ran the names of reporters for the DMN and found that 90% of those who voted, voted in the Democrate primary. That was evidence enough of their political leanings. That is typical nationwide. Therefore we see the political party affiliation in some case and not in others. Along these same lines the newmedia did their best to destroy Richard Nixon but protected the rapist/whoremonger Bill Clinton. Why did Bill Clinton not complete his education in England? Rape. The newmedia knew but did not let it out. Back to the REPUBLICAN drunk driver. He should be made to pay and resign his office.

Hmmm. This is a crazy thought:

If you want to avoid the "surcharge," DON'T GET A DUI IN THE FIRST PLACE!

If you're dumb enough to drink-drive, whether your a Demo or a Repub, you deserve everything you've got coming to you.

Now, is that so hard?

This guy is like the gay Idaho Senator who railed against homos because he actually was one (you know ~ Mr. Wide Stance?).

Verdict? Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law and let him choke on his own surcharge.

Ya'll excuse Jarhead and don't bother to comment on anything he says,it will be much better for all.

Jarhead, you drink. You have drunk enough to get a dwi and driven in car.Guaranteed. Oddly, the post was more or less directed at people like like you,as in "Hypocrite" and "he without sin..." No surprise you couldn't "stifle yourself meathead"
Hah!

Jarhead said...

I've got too much to lose to take a chance getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking. It's called restraint.

Apparently 5:13 has none or he wouldn't have bothered to comment.

This is so much fun.

He made a mistake. He should not have done what he did but it does not condemn a whole body of work.

He felt strongly about his stance at the the time but is now subject to that stance and its result.

I do not understand the argument that he is a hypocrite, has he said that he is unhappy to pay the surcharge for his mistake?

A DWI is a bad choice, it does not mean that you are a bad person!

Apparently, from the comments here, the severity of a crime depends on who commits it. This guy is beaten down by comments, while people busted with pot are defended. Interesting.

The double standard is everywhere -- say, for example, a male McDonald's manager is caught in the office with a female employe in flagrante delicto. He would be fired posthaste.

Make the same guy a Democrat President of the US, and suddenly it's "private business." He gets off without any serious consequences, much less losing his job.

That is moral relativism. The offense depends on who's committing it.

commenting back to jarhead....leads to more ignorance, and baffling nosense.... I think Jarhead is best left alone and maybe then he can be a productive at work...
Ever wonder why People in investments are called BROKERS...haha

Can't we all just get a Long...Neck.

The problem with this surcharge or any other needless vengeful, politically motivated crap is it GUARANTEES more drivers on the road with no license, which guarantees more drivers on the road with no insurance which guarantees more people uncovered after wrecks which guarantees more lawsuits. Also when the folks are tossed in the jail YOU pay. These are just off the top of my head. I know everybody hates the drunk driver-raarr,get out your pitchforks, but legislation that is there to make a political group happy will hurt everybody else in ways you may not think about on 'knee jerk' reflection.
For your poli sci bonus:Policies or laws based on emotion and especially which are vengeful in nature are always going to bad.

Everybody keep on cheering about retarded policies such as these-you are paying well for the giggles.

As long as we're talking about stupid laws - how about McCain and Hillary proposing to solve our gas problem by suspending the federal gas tax for the summer. Oh goody. I'll (maybe) save $25. I guess I'll add a room to the house or buy a bigger truck with this savings! How stupid do these pandering politicians think we are?

Ref: 1:47 pm.
You broke the law and endangered countless lives on the roadway (.190) is very intoxicated and scientifically impossible to achieve by only 2 drinks, even if they were 40oz Bud Ice's. You were caught. Boo Hoo. Your damn lucky you weren't caught because you caused a wreck and injured or god forbid killed someone. Your post was very articulate but yet completely moronic. How does someone who is apparently so educated come to the conclusion that if a person gets caught breaking the law and as a punishment for their crime they lose their privilege to drive(because it is a privilege not a right)they should turn to further crime and that's ok. It's ok because the sinister people in law enforcement were picking on you. "YOU WERE WRONG", now grow a set and face YOUR FAULTS.
