The Update made reference to a school bus wreck this morning on 287. A fellow blogger snapped a couple of pics here.

4 kids onboard, driver of the 4 x 4was flown to a Ft. Worth Hospital, driver of the bus was taken to Wise Regional Hospital and one kid taken to Cookes by their parents
Well, if the 4x4 was speeding or otherwise driving recklessly, we don't mind that do we? Aren't we OK with that in Rhome? Didn't we flame out all over Rhome officials who stubbornly tried to avoid these kinds of potential nightmares? The faster the better, right? C'mon all you speed limit haters, where are you when kids on a school bus are involved?
I read where the driver was flown by helicopter to the hospital with non-serious injuries. I wonder who is going to pick up the eleven thousand dollar tab for that? Can you say taxpayer? Who says we don't have free healthcare? Free for the driver but not for us who have to pay for it.
TO 641 THAT IS A CLOSE ESTIMATE ON THE COST OF THE HELICOPTER RIDE
TO 515 THE COST SHOULD BE PAID BY THE DRIVERS VEHICLE INSURANCE PROVIDEING THERE WAS INSURANCE OR IF IT IS DETERMANED BY THE DPS IT WAS THE SCHOOL BUSES FAULT THEN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OR DURAHM TRANSPORTATION WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILL NOT THE TAX PAYERS.

I love the rubberneckers with cell phone cameras causing more wrecks.
I could have got a really good shot of the pickup at 8am but my camera's batteries were dead! Horrible.

The bus caused the accident by slamming on the brakes too hard after seeing the speed camera, causing the redneck in the 4x4 to rear end the bus.
Sounds like the busdriver drew the short straw---being sent to Wise Regional?

If that is a REAL number, that is just as insane as a $12. box of hospital tissue.
Yep, that's what they charged my niece to fly her from Denton to Ft. Worth.

The driver of the pick up had a serious head injury that caused him to fight the medics that worked on him.
