Now That's A Baseball Nugget

The Texas Rangers traded Mark Teixeira to the Atlanta Braves today for 22 year old Jarrod Saltalamacchia (among others.)

I learned on the way back from Fort Worth that
Jarrod Saltalamacchia has a 38 year old wife who was a volleyball coach when he was in high school.

(My only source on her age is The Ticket.)

Yep, another great trade for the Rangers... just what we needed: another CATCHER... oh yeah, and maybe a minor league pitcher and an injured pitcher (Matt Harrison) who is the FOCUS of the trade...
sheesh!

I am glad they got rid of Tex before he became worth nothing on the trading block. Every Scott Boras(baseball anti-christ) client goes on the open market. Rangers would have lost him anyway.

if you aint first, your last!! and thats what the rangers are trying to do!! this is a horrible trade, 2 major league players for 1 major league player and 3 minor league players who will never make it to the bigs. Daniel needs to be fired!! looking to the future my ass, they've been saying that for 10 years and it still hasnt shown up

I don't know if Daniels will or will not be a good GM but I do think he made the right move be trading Tex for whatever he could get. Something is better than nothing. The Rangers will never compete until they get an owner who wants to operate in the 3rd largest market instead of a low to middle market. Hicks will never spend the money to win like the Yankees, Red Sox, or now the Angels.
