Awful story in the Star Telegram about this pregnant Anna ISD kindergarten teacher who was killed in an auto wreck this morning.
But, at the risk of sounding callous, this line from the story bothered me: "Dallas lawyer Scott Palmer, who has been retained by Selkirk’s husband, confirmed that the teacher was 15 weeks pregnant."
One of the first things you do is retain a lawyer?
Edit: Didn't post one comment of a fictitious conversation between lawyer and client in this case. That, sir, was simply way over the top.

In the case of a negligent death.... HELL YES you retain an attorney quickly but the day of does seem a bit much.
Come on Barry, think it through. Folks hire lawyers for all kinds of reasons, some of them weird.....could it be that hubby wanted testing to see if the baby was his or perhaps he wanted to be sure the undertakers didn't take the baby to sell to black market stem cell folks.
Frankly, I think some undertakers need to be monitored in the preparation rooms.

Perhaps he was grieve stricken and the family needed someone to make a statement on his behalf, he may have already had a lawyer on retainer as many of us "undertakers" do.
I believe if my wife and future child died in a accident hiring a lawyer the same day would be the farthest thing from my mind.

That is both hilarious and scary-amazing. Boy, do I hope you were joking, or else that's a level of paranoia so twisted and extreme that I'm now afraid of my fellow Americans in a profound way ...
The lawyer he hired got to the crash site before Barry did and that really chaps his ass and caused him back pain from the anguish.
