Kanye West (the rapper who is hated by W's supporters) debuted this week at #1 on the Billboard charts with his new album, "Late Registration". And he even topped the newly released album by Brooks and Dunn who came in #3 with "Hillbilly Deluxe".

Kanye West is a racist idiot who just happens to be black. If he is #1 that just goes to show how many stupid people are out there buying CDs.
As a matter of a fact I have and I can't say that I was not impressed. I am not judging him by one comment either, maybe you forgot about his arrogant ass comment at the AMA's this year when he lost to Gretchen Wilson. Something to the effect of he was the best new artist so get the other BullS*** out. (Please do not quote me on that and call me stupid, if it is not exactly correct!)
Yeah, he is really fair minded person. I am really starting to feel bad that I called him a racist idiot....
For your reading pleasure. I small piece of one of Mr. Kanye West's songs. VERY CLASSY. Really something I want my children listening to.
"Our father, give us this day our daily bread ...give us these days and take our daily bread, See I done did all this ole bullshit And to attone I throw a little somethin, somethin on the pulpit. We took that shit, measured it and then cooked that shit And what we gave back was crack music And now we ooze it through they nooks and crannies So our mammas aint got to be they cooks and nannies And we gonna repo everything they ever took from grammy Now the former slaves trade hooks for grammies This dark dixon has become America's addiction those who ain't even black use it."
boredatwork, As a parent it is your right to block this from your childs' ears if you want to. Kanye did not make these songs for kids anyway-yeah kids listen to them, but where are there parents? More than likely the ones who let their kids listen to this stuff, do not care-or do not know about what is going on. As far as a teenager, even an adult. Some people feel that by listening to lyrics like these, it helps them connect to the "streets", or the "hood". Showing how "their" people, have struggled to get where they are. Rap, Hip-hop, and R&B just boils down to one thematic element. A struggle. Some people identify with, unfortunately some people act it out. It is like everything else. Would you let your kids listen to Disturbed, or System of A Down? Would you let your 8 or 9 year old play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? It is your judgement, but as long as their is a market for these types of genres-people/bands, etc. will keep a product out there to be bought. Basic business concept.
I guess I understand your business concept statement but for the record my children will not listen to any of those groups or play X-Box games like that. At least not with my permission. I think that it is unfortunate that society continues to promote these types of songs/games to today's youth. Also, I am sorry that my husband and I are in the minority.
Boredatwork, I understand completely. Let me assure you, your husband and yourself are not in the minority-despite what the #1 selling artist is. Fortunately/unfortunately, this is why my field of psychology is growing rapidly every year.
Boredatwork--cute ID, by the way--I agree w/the psychology fielder. You're not in the minority. The bad parents who think their children have "the right" to load their minds w/filth are. Those parents are also just lazy people who can't be bothered to give their children proper upbringing.
Kanye West is a blight to black people. Just furthers racist nonsense.
I am just glad to know that my husband and I are not the only people left in the world who want our children to be raised with the same morals and standards that our parents raised us with.
People are always talking about how the society is progessing but I tend to think that we are digressing in so many ways when it comes to the morals and standards that we are teaching our children.
LOL Anon at the end! So true! I think that very thing every time I find myself at a stoplight with the thunking coming from the car next to me. Duh, duh, DUM, boom, duh, duh, DUM, boom......as Barry says, "Sheesh."

Judging someone by one comment they make is not very fair. Have you ever listened to his music?

Just my thoughts....
The definition of music and noise is much more fuzzy now.
