The 22 people died together.
"Police believe they tried to escape the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina lashed to one another with a rope. Rescuers found them last week in St. Bernard Parish just east of New Orleans.
No one has identified them yet. No one has tried to figure out who they are or how they knew each other or how far they had come before a rescue crew found them wrapped around a pole."

I guess I just have a few quams about this whole ordeal:
*FEMA, Homeland Security, Bush-were all informed of this Hurricane a week in advance. They (the city and the administration) knew of the dire possibility of the hurricane hitting New Orleans.
What I don't understand is:
*How would the Homeland Security Dept. react to a terrorist attack warning issued approx. a week before it was to happen?
*As an American citizen (regardless of what political view), how do you feel knowing that the Administration waited this long to deliver needed supplies to evacuees/stranded citizens in New Orleans and abroad?
*Is it just me, or does it seem-that the longer there is a media precense in New Orleans, the more these rumors-allegations of racial bias pan out?
*I personally do not think it is right for us as citizens to have to pay for someones' assistance, only to sit in their house waiting for the city to "rebuild"-I say, if these people are dumb enough to go back to their "homes", they should be left there. Rescuers have risked their own lives just to travel door to door to let them know it is not safe. The more they do this, the more time we are wasting on other morons-and not nabbing actual victims.
homeland sercurity? you gotta be kidding ... they do not work for the national weather service. that blame goes to the city government, from the mayor and city manager on down.
bush and his crew is not the brightest, but the pre-storm plan is not their job. thats absurd.
hurricanes hit florida every year, do they evacuate the state everytime? no way in the word do they. easy easy to pass the blame after the fact, but the REAL fact is, no one ever expects the worse when hurricaes hit and this is a prime example. katrina hit florida days earlier and no one cared then.
When the hurricane hit - it was bad - but not any worse than the numerous hurricanes that hit in Florida - just last fall. People ride out hurricanes all the time. I wouldn't, but i'm a chicken. I was at home working, watching the news, and people were standing in the streets and down town wasn't flooded. People were walking around. (Dazed, butwalking around on the streets) The media was down there and they were interviewing people standing out on the streets - it wasn't until the levy broke that the real disaster began. For some reason that appears to be what caught everyone off guard. I really don't believe it is the fault of the administration that everyone wasn't evacuated. Although some of you will find fault with this adminstration just for breathing in and out.
