Big Deal

The "Drudge Report" tonight seems to be making a big deal out of this comment from former First Lady Barbara Bush regarding the refugees in Houston: "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this --this is working very well for them." Audio of the comment is here. Seems like a non-story to me.

Here's the real story but the media doesn't want to focus on it.

Thousand of military personal are down in the gulf helping rescue people and help put their town back together. Thousand of more are helping in shelters to make sure people are being fed and clothed. Thousand of more are opening up their homes to give these people a place to live. And the rest of us are donating food, clothes and or money to help these people out. Just about everybody is doing something. There is so much positive going on but the media wants to focus on the negative or what appears to be negative.

Having everything you own destroyed, being evacuated to unknown cities, and no real plans for the future, everything seems to be going well. There is a special place in hades for Ms. Bush.

Will the person who finds it necessary to critique everyone’s spelling and grammar get the f$%k out of here. We are just a bunch of dumb red necks from Wise County trying to vent some steam. If we wanted an education we wouldn't have dropped out the 9th grade.

In response to anon #2. People shouldn't make rash decisions based on a 1-2 second audio. If you looked deeper, that's probably not what she meant. I'm sure your not perfect, either.

I'm sure Mrs. Bush probably didn't mean anything derogatory and is well meaning, but her comment points to the obvious disconnect that exists between someone from the upper crust of our society and the poor. Whether one is poor or otherwise, losing your home and lifelong possessions, and in some cases, loved ones, is traumatic and to suggest that they're in just about as good of shape now with their current living arrangements as they were before the disaster, which is what her comment suggests, is to truly not have a clue concerning the situation these people face.

The main line media just randomly chooses ridiculous reports for all of us "dumb red neck Wise County people."

Wait a second....Barry, are you shying away from the chance to jump all over a comment made by the Bush family?

Barbara Bush is one of the most admirable women to have resided in the White House. She stated facts...the vast majority of those people are underprivileged and have no means of going anywhere without assistance. So I would consider it to be working out well for them. They are being fed, housed, clothed, educated at our schools that are already in a financial turmoil. They are also receiving assistance in finding jobs. Something that from appearance sake they didn't have in New Orleans..................

All at the sametime after the interview, she headed back to her multi-million dollar Houston mansion.

And what is wrong with that?

she is a stupid yankee. no one cares

There's not much difference between a stupid yankee and a stupid redneck. No one cares about either one. Remember that the next time you want to throw names around. Grow up!!
