Our Wise County Judge

My only objection is that "quick weekend trip to Paris" line. (But I have the perfect wedding gift for him if he gets mad because of this post. I'll update later.)

I don't give a $hit about you asking your woman to get married.

Find something to occupy yourself other putting crap like this on the internet.

At least you're not a public official!
Could you imagine? Showing the world how fiscally absent-minded you are by "quick- tripping" to Paris to ask a question?

I mean, would she not have said yes if you proposed in a nice restaurant?

I've got a gift,too. It's advice.

Not everything in your life needs to be posted.

4) make sure secret photographer gets perfect shot of my face while completely ignoring my fiance, whom is the sole reason for the "quick weekend trip". TJDCM (Total JD Clark Move)
And you nimrods think he's not a politician

And I thought you had to be out of diapers to be a judge. Man, was I WRONG.

I am with 10:19 on this one, not everything needs to be posted, especially if you are a public official getting paid by tax dollars...instead of Paris, should have gone to Rhome

Me and my ole lady went to get our disability checks and I asked her to get hitched in the Post Office parking lot in Newark and she said ok cuz she didn't have nothin else to do that day.

Afterwerds we went to Rhome and eat at the Dairy Queen and it was not bad.

10:19 you should post that comment on your facepost or tweeter or whatever the hell the kids use nowadays..

So we are trusting this guy with our money? How does he afford a "quick trip to Paris" on his county salary?

For most people, a "quick weekend trip" would be going to PK or Austin. Guess it is different if you are J.D.

People right here in WC are starving and our officials are running off to Paris on a whim.

Oh my gosh, pessimists! Didn't ANY of you watch Bambi and take Thumper's advice? - "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all!"

Congratulations to JD and his fiance. I wish them all the best in their life together. What an exciting moment for both of them and something for the rest of you 'men' to live up to when it comes to proposing (ahem, Mr. Dairy Queen).

Did he use his private jet on his quick weekend trip to Paris? Oh my, our County Judge is showing how young, immature and how he has no problem in wasting money. Some day he will wish he had the money back when he has 3 kids to send to college! Guess we know now how he will manage our tax dollars! I hope all the women voters notice how FB friends can see his pretty face and the backside of the woman he is going to marry! Poor JD, he can't help himself...anything for a photo opt.

What business is it of anyone's if he got there on his own dime? How people save or spend is a private matter. Personally, I think if, at his age, he's saved enough to pull this off, more power to him. Maybe he'll handle county money the same way!

If this is the proposal location, you have to wonder what he has planned for the wedding and honeymoon location. Ooorrr, is he the type of guy to blow all he has to get the girl and nothing left for the rest of their marriage.

If he spends "his money" like this just wait until he spends "ours" during the budget year.

What is the Wise County courthouse not good enough for a backdrop for picture?

I cannot wait until everyone see's the true JD Clark.

I cannot wait until he runs for state or national office. This way we can get rid of him.

I think it is lovely, but then again, I'm very happy in my own life and not jealous of anyone else's!!!

Man, are we jealous much or just don't have anything better to do? If you don't like it don't read about it! This was a special day for him and his fiancé and if he chose to propose in Paris instead of a restaurant or post office or in his front yard then so be it! It was thoughtful and perfect for them. He is working hard for Wise County and how he spend HIS paycheck is no concern of anyone else!

Congratulations J.D. and fiancé!

How a man spends his money is his business, and his alone.

But politically, he probably should have thought about it a little more before posting.

He wanted to share a very special day of his life with his friends and family. No harm in doing that. Beautiful pictures and beautiful couple.

Get this guy out of here before he starts spending OUR money on a whim!!! Grow up, boy. You dont have to post everything, like a kid would....oh, wait a minute...Now it makes perfect sense. (To a kid).

Wise Co is gonna start regretting electing this boy.

I remember when he was just a humble musician, always shying away from the spotlight.

Give the boy a break! When I was 18 I purposed to my wife at the Wise County Park boat ramp. I know it was elaborate and an unnecessary expense, but I was young and lived in a fantasy world. We've all done immature things when we were young, so give the boy a break. He will one day grow up and become a man.

1:15 - good points. And who really cares about where he proposes to his future wife?

The guy loves publicity.

J.D. is a public official with an active FB page posting everything he does. I think the personal FB page should be about his personal life, not a hybrid FB page about personal and county commissioner court business. So he opens the door for public comments on Barry's blog. Knowing JD's record on how he budgeted money while serving as Mayor, I understand how he chose to spend money on the proposal. It was only the first step in the marriage process; proposal, wedding, honeymoon, home. It was his business on how he spent his money; however, it is an insight into a mindset on money management and priorities. Waiting for his first budget reflecting all his "new and fresh ideas". I hope he remembers oil/gas revenues are down so he won't give himself a raise!
