Ridiculous. At least police salaries aren't coming from tax payers... oh wait.

Hell, I'm a cop, and I'll say it: That's a sign that the Idiocracy is at hand.

Anonymous said...

Too bad. Maybe that police dog could have solved the case of the missing Wise County dogs.

Anonymous said...

Just an excuse to have the day off......with pay!

Anonymous said...

OK who did the pooper scooper that many dogs marking territory they had to have made a mess.

Anonymous said...

Where is Salt?

Ahhh Push it. Push it real good.

Anonymous said...

If any of you smart asses had of been there, you wouldn't be saying what you are saying.

Anonymous said...

You may not say it, but you know you're thinking it! I love dogs, and this one's a hero, but this is over the top.

Police kill dogs, sometimes justified, sometimes not. This road goes both ways. It validates bringing officers up on charges when negligent of killing animals.

Although justified, a man still lost his life. Any Christian compassion for his soul? For criminals in general?

Damned shame about the dog, but we got the rat bastard that killed him.

Yep, I'll say it. This stuff is waay over the top.

PS - Did the dog sign up for a gig where it risked being killed? Or did some Humans make the decision for it?

Anonymous said...

That's why we bought the dogs, to take the bullet for the cops..

Anonymous said...

Dogs have no soul. But cops got plenty of gall.

Anonymous said...

Cops have no problem shooting YOUR dog.

The service was beautiful. It was a celebration of Pepper doing exactly what he was trained to do. He saved the lives of 5 officers that still get to go home to their families. Without Pepper on that call that day, the story would be completely different. Have respect for those that serve to protect.

Anonymous said...

I'm a big fan of the little puppy dog, but this memorial service is a joke.

Anonymous said...

It is sad, and tragic, but it's a DOG, people! Now we are going to start the discussion about dogs going to Heaven when they die because Grace Fellowship had a funeral in their CHURCH for a dog! Have a service at the Civic Center or anywhere except a place of worship. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!

Baylor Too said...

That is just dumb. It's a damned dog!

Anonymous said...

Wondering how many actually attended today?

Anonymous said...

Those are your tax dollars at work.

And another story...What-a-burger in Decatur had it's lowest daily sales....EVER.

Anonymous said...

How many ways can you spell redonkulous?

Anonymous said...

Simmer down everyone. Poor dog didn't deserve to get shot. Now can we just go back to bashing JD Clark?

The more I know about people, the more I like Dogs. I'm serious, I mean that! At least half of the so called human race just flat out disgust me. I mean that too!

Anonymous said...

Grace Fellowship is a place of worship? I thought it was one of those Amway outfits.

Five officers are alive because of what Pepper did. This memorial is well deserved - dog or no.

People who comment on this blog day in and day out are growing more and more pathetic. Do you people really believe this dog didn't deserve this respect for saving the lives of the officers that were out doing their job and taking this vermin off the street? Did you even read how many times this scumbag had been arrested over the last few years? Wasn't it 23 times? LAWYERS rake in all kinds of money from these SOBs by getting them OFF and putting them back on the streets to live with the law abiding citizens.

At least this DOG worked to keep people safe! More than I can say for those who put them back out on the streets!

Yeah... I'm talking to you!

Anonymous said...

OK we get it, Pepper saved lives. That is a great thing. But having hundreds of cops show up to a funeral for a dog they never even met is flat out stupid. I bet none of those good Christian cops paid any respects to the dead criminal. Remember that love your enemies part in the good book?

Anonymous said...

Exactly how much did this exercise in idiocracy cost the taxpayers of Wise County?

Anonymous said...

6:54 -- Let me break this down for you. You've got a real nasty tone so I presume you're a LEO.

"Five officers are alive because of what Pepper did."

I mean, how can you possibly know this? Butterfly effect?

"People who comment on this blog day in and day out are growing more and more pathetic."

Just like the police.

"Do you people really believe this dog didn't deserve this respect for saving the lives of the officers..."

See above comment.

"...that were out doing their job..."

Lots of people have jobs, pal, and actually, being a cop isn't the most dangerous one out there. Not even in the top ten, so quit slapping yourself on the back. Please.

"...and taking this vermin off the street? Did you even read how many times this scumbag had been arrested over the last few years? Wasn't it 23 times?"

Yes, I read his rap sheet. He wasn't exactly a hardened criminal. Vermin is a little harsh, don't you think? After all, he paid for his crimes with his life. No trial. Death by cop.

"LAWYERS rake in all kinds of money from these SOBs by getting them OFF and putting them back on the streets to live with the law abiding citizens."

Blame it on the lawyers, eh? More name calling. Did you take that mouth into the memorial service with you? I'll bet you did.

"At least this DOG worked to keep people safe! More than I can say for those who put them back out on the streets!"

The dog -- Pepper -- had no choice about it. It scares me to think someone like you could be out on the streets and armed as well.

"Yeah... I'm talking to you!"

Yes, and it was nice talking to you too. Have you considered anger management?

Disarm the police! Say no to brutality and official suppression!

8:49, YOU are an IDIOT! Good Gawd... a complete IDIOT! I think you're the one with the nasty tone and quite bitter over a dog getting a funeral.

Try getting a life!

Name calling? Yes I am because I am identifying what you are and you're and IDIOT!

Take your meds and shut the hell up!

Anonymous said...

More here seem agree with @8:49 PM than with you @9:16 PM. Sorry. You may have to load your high capacity mags if you want to stop all the IDIOTS...

We are all sorry the dog was killed! Just not all in agreement with how he was honored.

But don't worry, the local public won't disagree with the service. They don't carry guns and badges.

Anonymous said...

If he doesn't shut up, are you going to pepper-spray him?

Anonymous said...

It is appropriate to memorialize that dog for his service, but this should have not been in a church, but a public place - since the dog, his handlers and the police officers are public servants.

Wonder just who chose Grace Fellowship for this memorial?

Anonymous said...

8:49
Barry is that you.

Anonymous said...

No ones opinion here matters; only RAGE's opinion.

Please tell us what you think RAGE.

Anonymous said...

You people who seem to think there are too many law enforcement officers need to get a brain.

City governments only create positions or Firemen or LEO's based on the needs of their citizens. If there are too many cops, its because your city or county has too many ass holes and dumb asses.

These positions are a direct result of your city governments needs.

Anonymous said...

@9:16

Just like a cop. Not getting your way so you tell the other person to shut up. Guess what? You can't pepper spray or shoot someone over the internet, so I guess all of your tactics are useless.

Anonymous said...

Did you ever think the Grace Fellowship donated their place for the service? Guess it's a possibility. Anybody know?

Anonymous said...

9:16, the idiot is YOU. You seem to think cops and their trained attack animals (who have no choice in the matter) are 'better' than the average citizen and we should worship them.

News Flash: You ain't and we don't.

Anonymous said...

Republicans, y'all made this happen. Y'all idolize cops and allow endless spending for them. You have given them free reign to do whatever the hell they want, and elect people who give them blank checks. Congratulations.

6:22 AM -- the deceased dog's grandparents help start that church in Paradise. Still embarrasses me to think they held a memorial for a dog in a church. I'm still shaking my head..................

Anonymous said...

I'm an old man now. I served my country honorably during war, put myself through college, yadda yadda. I have never known, met, or interacted with a cop who didn't strike me as a bully.

Anonymous said...

This whole conversation makes any sane people want to move away from Wise County. What a bunch on hateful morons posting on here. If this is the best WC has to offer, we all need to run for the hills!

Anonymous said...

Who would have thought that elevating a dog to the level of a human being and having a funeral service for him (including the presentation of a flag to his family?) would have caused so much controversy?

Anonymous said...

8:49
Barry quit commenting on your own blog! You could at least sign your name.

Anonymous said...

Go to you tube and search K9 funerals, just so the ignorant will know that this is done all over the country.

That ought to piss a liberal off.

Anonymous said...

The dog did not save 5 lives. Poor tactics and improper use of the animal cost the county 1 trained attack dog. Who's responsible? (and don't blame the perp)

Anonymous said...

11:39, you have got to be kidding with that info! Absurd! Completely absurd!

When being chased by law enforcement, turning to shoot at them WILL cause them to return fire. Most likely you will die.

FACT!

Anonymous said...

9:33 said, "More here seem agree with @8:49 PM than with you @9:16 PM. Sorry. You may have to load your high capacity mags if you want to stop all the IDIOTS..."

And you just proved 6:54's statement to be true. Most commenters on this blog are idiots! See how that works?

My hamster died recently. I spent a great deal of time and expense training him. He knew to eat from my hand without biting and which corner of his cage to poop in. I loved that hamster. He got out of his cage last Tuesday and my cat ate him.

As any sane person can see, I am faced with a moral decision. Should I turn in my cat to the police before or after the memorial service? To his credit, my cat has expressed regret.

Yo dude! 8:49 is definitely not Barry! Get a grip and quit blaming Barry the Barrister!

Dallas AFLCIO said...

Totally acceptable and understandable. If most humans had half the loyalty, compassion and bravery like this dog it would be a better world. RIP Pepper.

This is simply another demonstration of the culture that permeates law enforcement. THEY are better than YOU. There are 2 classes in this country, Cops and Non-Cops.

1137 thanks, I did, and it is more common than folks maybe think. Don't understand why Liberals would be pissed off more than anyone else. Probably more religious conservative whiners that liberals about a dog's funeral, but it probably does not have a side you have to be on like say climate change\global warming or something. Some think the dog's funeral is ok, others think it is stupid and unnecessary and overboard. Not even sure where you are at with it.

2:23 -- spot on!

If humans had half the loyalty, compassion and bravery as Pepper, then the police tyranny would run rampant over us. We are not robots or animals, we are human beings. Get a clue, Dallas AFLCIO (and Wise County LEO).

What's next? The right to marry the animal of our choice?

Good grief - kill ME.

How much did this idiocracy cost?

Anonymous said...

K9 Church funerals may be commonplace in America, but so are abortions.

Does that make it right?

Anonymous said...

11:25 -- Why don't you leave your name and badge number?

Anonymous said...

So if a criminal shoots and kills a dog, we honor the dog as if he was human. But if an off-duty police officer shoots the dog, we....do nothing? What about an on-duty police officer? What if a Bridgeport PD officer shoots a dog that's shut up in a backyard fence and leaves it for the homeowner to find when they get home?

Yeah, that happened. There's some serious double standards at work here.

Anonymous said...

The people hating on the K9 are mad cause the only tricks their personal dogs can do is the "clean the peanut butter up" trick.
