"Make up your mind. Decide to walk with me. Around the lake tonight."

Actual WFAA story and video link here. (Just a graphic above.)

Some have referred to a Stephens County fire and a Possum Kingdom fire but it looks like they are one and the same. (I think.) It has destroyed at least 30 homes. Fox 4 has helicopter up there this afternoon.  Amazing pictures. That fire is HUGE. Edit: It's two fires. Sheesh.

I've griped about the wind all Spring, but today is a doozy. The walls are rattling.  But I don't think we have any Wise County fires reported -- a nice change.

Edit: We've got a pretty big Boonesville fire at 1:15 p.m.

Edit: Power lines down in Boyd.

Edit: Sheriff's Office just told me there was a guy who was burning leaves in Briar.

Edit: Now with a report of people burning limbs on Hwy 51 south of FM 2123. Goofy, goofy people.

Edit: Bridgeport High School's gym roof severely damaged.

Edit: Fire north of Decatur reported around 4:30 p.m.

Edit: Hide you wife, hide you kids . . . .

Always like a Toadies reference, even if it is obvious.

There is a brush fire now FM 920 and CR 3736 kind of south of Lake Bridgeport. Four or five departments called. Downed power line could be the cause.

Fire in Boonsville now

With that tease-y title, you were really whetting my appetite for something juicy, like obsession or murder. Turns out you were only talking about the actual lake.
Still, quoting the Toadies is always cool

"Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?"

Sounds more like a Ricky Lee Green reference than the Toadies!

The fire in Possum Kingdom is only threatening homes. The fire in Stephens County is the fire that has destroyed 30 homes. Read the story again.

How come both of the Toadies' big hits were rape songs named after locations? That's sad. Some of those lyrics make my skin crawl, especially the one where he looks in her fridge for a beer before heading into her bedroom. Scaaaaaaaaaary. Blech. Grody.

Go to the handy weather radar on this sight to see the huge smoke plumes from the fires.

At least they had their priorities straight on getting a beer first.

Waiting for a meth lab fire --

Just walked the dog here at Runaway Bay and could smell smoke in the air. It must be from the Possum Kingdom fires.

Goofy people, Barry? Try STUPID. What kind of moron would burn leaves and limbs on a day like today? It's getting scary. Praying for our safety I am.

Someone beteween Rhome and New Fairview.

Perhaps those that are out burning stuff come from a family where their mom is their sister and their dad is their brother. Stupid stupid people.

3:28 I think there are a lot of inbreds in this county.

If someone can smell smoke in Runaway Bay from the fire in Possum Kingdon, with a 40+ mph wind from the northwest, lets get Ripley's Believe It Or Not on the phone.

They are shooting cattle near San Angelo due to hooves being melted off. These fires are devastating. The western half of Texas is on fire.

roof on gym at Bridgeport high schools seems to have come loose.

I live close to the jackwagon that was burning leaves in Briar. I was keeping a close eye on his fire till he put it out. Makes me nervous. Especially being an ex-FF. I know first had what happens. Idiots!

At least they are not burning their toilet paper after taking a country dump!

So I shouldn't practice my flaming baton routine down in the cedar grove this afternoon?

Is the new Messenger Update site not working, or is it my RSS feed? I'm not seeing any of these on either the update or the 'breaking news'.
Just wondering...could easily be me. I've not spent a lot of time trying to figure out why it's not working, because I am certainly not happy that I have to pay for news from the Messenger.
Thanks for the blog, Barry.

8:02 It's not you. Their fb page said it was on their website/breaking news. The only people who were able to get the fire news were the ones who log in.
We're gonna need you more now Barry, can't depend on Messenger.

Having to pay for breaking news of fire alerts and power outages is sorta akin to the stamp act, I do believe!
