Let's See How This Works Out

The State Comptroller announced this morning that Texas has $15 billion less to spend over the next two years. (It could even grow to $27 billion.)  Basically, the brand spanking new Texas legislature, which is totally controlled by the Republican Party, will be forced to make drastic cuts.  They preach fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets.

To steal the Texas Ranger's slogan: "It's Time."

Here are two areas that really need to be drastically cut. I know there are many more.

1) 98% of the Food Stamp Holders (Lone Star or whatever it's called). 98% of this group is only milking the system.

2) 98% of the Medicaid recipients. Boy, what a racket this is. Sooner or later keeping ones legs closed has to be understood.

3) 98% of the Health and Human Services recipients. Again 98% milking the system, not to mention the illegal immigrants who use this program.

I spoke w/ a state rep. from Ft. Worth back in October, a Rep., I believe, but not sure, and don't remember his name. He told me this was coming, but they didn't yet know to what degree. He said it was all about federally mandated, but unfunded, health care increases. I said "so the federal govt. is doing the same thing to the states that the state govt. was doing to local school districts several years ago." (I don't know if they are still doing it). He is a new rep., so he "didn't know anything about that". And maybe he doesn't, but the state legislature sure did it.

Republicans can do it. If the Democrats were in control, then we would have a problem!

Again, I say "we don't have deficits because the people are taxed too little; We have deficits because the government spends too much." Cut the spending. Government can't provide everything to everyone.

Probably should cut some heads in state law enforcement agencies. We have a pretty low crime rate, roads are pretty safe, etc. We could save a ton of money.

thank goodness for no state income tax. you can bet though there will be increases in surcharges, fees, etc.

I would just like to say that in my humble opinion, anon 1:43PM is either a troll or a complete idiot.
98%, 98%, 98%. Of course you are just rounding off to the nearest 40 percent, right??
Yeah, there is waste and there is fraud but in the last couple of years,(under a Dem president)both have been addressed and are coming down. Your post is speculation at best and BS at worst.

In regards to 1:43pm comments on solution to state budget shortfall:

Medicaid, which folks like to hammer, covers the cost for a majority of the 87957 residents living in the 1126 Texas nursing homes. Dump it with no replacement & where do the residents go? Or is this where the Death Panels step in? Sorry for the snark, but couldn't let the ignorance pass by without comment.

Wonder how many of those people in the nursing homes' families moved all their loved ones monies so the state was forced to pay for their stay?

Part of the problem - last year Texas spent $4 billion more than it took in.

So much for how we "balance the budget" here in Texas. The real Rick Perry is revealed.

Not to worry folks. I'm sure we can continue to pay Rick's rent.

So? RPM. He's the govenor. You complain about his rent and not the fact that we waste millions paying worthless pieces of crap who refuse to get off their butts and get a job. That's crazy!

It's never a surprise when people on both sides of the coin end up getting it wrong. Anon 3:33 points out how full of BS Anon 1:43, which he is, but Anon 3:33 isn't any closer his self.

But,

Anon 3:33, if you want to give credit for a improvement in fraud and waste in the Lone Star system, why don't you look at two things.
First, Obama didn't have a single solitary thing to do with it. If you want to give away some credit, why don't you thank any of the state's thousands of Tea Party members that let our politicians know that they are watching what is going on, and holding someone accountable. But, if you can't do that, lets just give credit to the improvement of a free market ecomomy on it's own, because all three parties, and nearly every politician has tried to poison it at sometime since it fell out those couple of long years ago. Maybe it was just the fact that people in our area, and most of Texas have actually got to go back to work in the last year and a half, and the application for these benefits have actually dropped since then.
Hell, give credit to the stars just lining up right for once, because they deserve more credit than Obama.
