This guy died over the weekend and today the Internet is full of "Oh, I loved him in" this and "I loved him in" that. I'm thinking: Who? I noted he was in The Usual Suspects but with that cast of characters, I don't remember him at all.

How in the hell could you forget about in in The Usual Suspects? He easily had the most memorable role behind Kevin Spacey's.
That's the great thing about an actor who just acts, and doesn't get his name in the press for being a jackwagon. You may not remember his name, or his face, but when you go over his resume you find out that he populated lots of great movies that were made that way because he was in them. I think you'll find that he was in lots of movies you liked
With IMDB, you can finally answer the question about good character actors -- "Hey, wasn't that the guy in....?" I did that with Postlethwaite after JP², back through The Usual Suspects to the crappiest Alien. A lot of actors do exceptional work to make the superstars look better.
He was an amazing actor and an automatic indication that a film was worth viewing by participating as a character. We watched The Town just last night....he played an Irish mobster in it...and looked unwell.
I'll miss Mr. Postlethwaite immensely; the independent film world and Oscar caliber movie realm will as well.

not newsworthy.
His most memorable role was that of Mongo in "Blazing Saddles".
Theater is life. Film is art. Television is furniture.
How could you forget Kobayashi?
"Brassed Off" is a great flick. It holds special appeal for two unique demographic groups--labor organizers and band geeks.
11:08 Alax Karras plaued Mongo in blazing saddles.
Enjoyed Brassed Off greatly. Neither labor organizer, nor band geek. Just a feel-good movie.

So sad.
Never heard of him.
He played Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars".
He was a British actor that did a few American films. He played an excellent bad guy.
Brassed Off is a great film.
Shocker. Just saw him in The Town.
Received an Oscar nomination for In The Name Of The Father.
