People can say what they want but those guy's, EMS, Firefighters and Law Enforcement, aren't paid near enough. The person they took from that Jeep would probably agree. And no, I'm not in that line of work.

You are so right 8:45 - these folks are worth so much more than they are paid.

They are caring and professional and often risk their own lives for the rest of us.

We are just blessed in Wise County to have these people.

VERY blessed!

Yes....after years of training to be an RN....I know those that are going through Paramedic training and it far exceeds what you would ever imagine....they definitely need for money for work they do!

Whatever paramedics and firefighters make is not enough. Whatever police officers and the person covering this story make is way too damm much.

Oh dear 3:59, check to see how many police officers are paramedics, emt and firemen as well. The tall guy with the mustache is a Decatur Cop and Fireman and works the Rescue truck on his days off. Get a life retard.

How can anyone be critical of the EMT's, paramedics, and police/deputies who respond to these accidents? What's wrong with you folks who criticize them? They witness horrendous scenes....and usually put themselves in harms way to rescue people FROM those horrendous scenes. HOW DARE ANYONE criticize those who respond to our emergencies!!!!

I'm not saying they don't deserve what they make, but do firefighters really work that hard? Seems like they spend alot of time sitting around. And police get free stuff/cushy 2nd jobs nobody talks about when they're comparing salaries. Didn't we have people questioning whether teachers deserved what they made?

I guess when you don't consider all of the exposure to highly contagious diseases and sick people all the time along with cars flying past only coming within inches of your body while on accident scenes. Flames in a confinedd space while you are carrying a highly explosive Oxygen tank on your back. Others who protect you and your property with no thanks most of the time. Most of these people don't do it for the money by any means, but for the self gratitude of knowing they helped save someone's life, loved one or belongings from tragedy. Apparently those of you who don't think these people deserve what they are paid all be it very little in the grand scheme, have never NEEDED these people to assist you in your life, otherwise you would realize what the go through each day. Maybe they have a little more down time than people in regular jobs, but when was the last time you worked 24 hours with no sleep or got woke up in the middle of the night having chest pain or couldn't breathe, or GOD forbid found a loved one unconscious barely alive. Think about it would you want someone who didn't get a little down time to take a nap to be the one working on you knowing that they are fresh and thinking on their toes and confident enough to do their very difficult job? Think about it!

3:59; I used to think like you, unfortunatly. If you think about it, what is your life worth? Would you have a job where you didn't know from day to day that you could be shot, stabbed, mammed or even killed? Most people would say no, especially if they have a family that counts on them being there. These folks deal with the sad, horrifying and nasty. They do a lot more than just sit around. Some complain that all our officers do is write tickets. I say good! I have 2 kids on the road and if they can stop or at least slow someone down that could hurt or kill my kids or anyone else, I say go for it! Far too many people have died or been seriously injured in car accidents within the last two years around here. Just stop and think about it before you start knocking our police officers.

Any one who ends their rant with a "think about it" automatically loses all credibitlity.

Btw...I see no reason to chase the scanner to all the wrecks, video taping those in pain. I thought The Mess was classless before the trading of hands. Geez. No different than a poontain of a defense lawyer. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
