A hard rain is falling. What will Decatur look like without the car dealers on US 287?

Bank of America loaned 7 billion dollars of the bailout money to China. The community organizer Obama, has got a handle on everything.

So much of the handouts are going to the States for infrastructure. I guess that means roads and bridges. We can't let the illegal workers that just completed U.S. 380 be unemployed and heading back to Mexico. That would be a disaster and spread unemployment to our schools. Used car sales would fall and the "Your Job is Your Credit" signs would go away.

Cut backs at Karl Klement happening as well.

Well, whether we like or dislike our President, he DID tell us this mess was coming and was going to get worse.

We will all be affected one way or another when it filters through.

Sad times.

I hope they made the parking lot rounds looking for Obama bumper stickers before they started handing out pink slips. Only fair...and if Obama stands for anything it is fairness.

Maybe they can get one of those "shovel ready" jobs.

Is the Bridgeport Hospital turning into a big mistake?

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that, the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does not good to work, because somebody else is going to what they work for! That my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. YOU CANNOT MYLTIPLY WEALTH BY DIVIDING IT!!
Dr. Adrian Rodgers said this many years ago, too bad Obama is not reading it!

Hey, the nice ones that post on this blog are welcomed to come help me get the garden ready for planting, and I'll share the bounty....other ner' do-wells who just want to steal or hassle me will be met with a full arse load of buckshot.

Any takers?

Thanks littlesister for sharing that quote. To add to it, our little situation now is that those who take can now outvote those who produce. And so, the demise will be accelerated as never before.

We can't depend on the "trickle down" theory anymore, can we? Soak the rich! They're had twenty long years to trickle down benefits to the poor and the poor are just getting poorer. Elite banksters are making mistakes and getting bailed out, why not the mortgage holders? The politicians depend on corporate money to get re-elected and what does that do to the poor? Left out. Businesses going out of business because of errors made on Wall Street. Time to do something about this situation. Pitchforks anyone?

Well said, Littlesister.

Just got word from OKC.....Devon is to lay-off 100 by August.

Thanks, Hussein.

3:43 FYI, the Bridgeport hospital is just getting started being open less then 7 months. It has experienced nothing different than any other start-up business. It is not going anwywhere but up much to the dismay of Wise Regional.

OBAMA = One Big Assed Mistake, America!

What all of the complainers overlook is that the Republicians also took from you and gave it away. The only difference is that they gave it to the rich, which I doubt anyone of you are. Else you wouldn't be here running your mouth without using your brain to think with.

I guess it's time to quit paying the credit cards and apply all of that money to stockpiling ammunition. It's starting to look like the 10,000 rounds I have won't be enough

If you have not tried the Bridgeport Hospital, don't knock it.. Yesterday I took my wife their to do an MRI , they were very nice and easy going with her. They talked to me and her like we were normal people in stead of idiots. Go to the east of the county and see how you are treated. This hospital will make it and do well.

Doesn't surprise me about Karl Klement. I recently had a new truck priced with a Ft. Worth dealer & gave KK a shot at it & they don't play. I try to stay local as much as possible but a 30 min. drive to save a couple thousand only makes sense.

Almost everyone agrees - our economy is in great trouble. For those of you who have been sleeping the past several years, this is not something that happened in the past 50 days of the Obama administration. We have a huge mess with numerous facets. It developed and evolved during Bush's administration. Most of us hope (not including Rush) that the current administration can work us out of the chaos. But please acknowledge our economic problems did not just start 50 days ago.

Those greedy docs will dump Bridgeport like a bad girlfriend. Ah yes, it a profit scheme! Nobody stays in business when their losing money...Duh

When poco laid off what area did they take the employees out of ??
That company helps alot of wise county people to stay close to home so they don't have to travel far for work.

11:49, our economic problems started with Carter's Community Reinvestment Act. They were made worse when Bill Clinton expanded the legislation. They were made worse when the Democrats failed to pass legislation, blocking Bush's attempt to reign in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The deathblow was $4.00 per gallon gasoline and diesel fuel. My 1,000 gallons annual consumption of diesel cost me $4,000 last year instead of $2,000. Every worker who had to use transportation to get to work got a similar increase in living expenses. Wages did not go up during this period of escalating fuel prices, so we all effectively got a pay cut. Everything transported in a truck cost more. We have higher prices for goods and less money to buy them with. Every American family has suffered. The Democrats have blocked expanding drilling in Alaska and off the Florida coast. There is oil off the West coast where the Hollywood environmental experts won't allow drilling. Add to all this, the global warming fraud as a means of controlling drilling in the U.S. The rest of the world goes after black gold wherever it is found, including China exploring the area between Cuba and Florida. We are self-destructing.

If you refuse to see the impact of poor lending practices and high fuel prices, then I should not even be wasting my time posting this. No, this economic crash did not just happen when Obama came to office.

9:14 It is tedious to deal with unsophisticated arguments like yours. First, the CRA did not cause huge banks and investment banks to invent Credit Defaults Swaps that are the root of the financial melt-down. Please also check the default rate of low-income borrowers. They are very low. However, many affluent borrowers who took out huge non-conforming loans have become a real problem. Second, the $4 gas you refer to occurred for about 1 year. Prior to that it hovered around the current $2 mark – in this country. The rest of the world pays $6 to $8 a gallon and their economies seem to support it. About 9 months ago the cure to our problems was “drill baby drill.” Well, since then no more drilling has been done and prices have dropped – partly due to reduced consumption. Even if more drilling was started, it would be years before it came online and we were at our refining capacity last year. Your statement about China exploring off Cuba is more internet imagination – and is false. I agree there have been very poor lending decisions made by huge national and international banks – but that can’t be blamed exclusively on the CRA – or Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae. High fuel prices are relative. They’re much higher in other countries and here they’re half of what they were 9 months ago. And let me guess, with higher fuel prices, a good businessman like yourself has devised more efficient use of your fuel and equipment. If not, you should have.

I do feel for any productive workers a POCO being laid off.

9:14 Well said, and trust me, you've wasted your time. ;)

The bulk of the layoffs at POCO were machinists. A few other areas lost a couple of people. I must say Barry, you have a good following here at POCO of workers who enjoy your blog.

"And let me guess, with higher fuel prices, a good businessman like yourself has devised more efficient use of your fuel and equipment."

I have cut my home energy consumption by 40% by changing out my air conditioning system. Am picking up 400 sq. ft. of solar panels next week to cut it even further. I have also bought into USO, a hedge fund, to protect me from $4.00 per gallon plus fuel when the Muslims blow Cushing or some other storage facility. I suffered through high diesel prices and am still paying for high cattle feed as a result of high fuel/fertilizer prices. I've learned my lesson. What is the SEER rating on your air conditioning condensing unit? You are probably like Al Gore and could care less what it is. All my liberal acquaintances have much higher KWH consumption than my Republican friends.

8:38 -
you have no clue. you must of been the only patient in the building. my grandma died there because they could not help a stroke victim and could not get her to decatur or FW in time.
that mig piece of mistake is nothing but a minor emergency clinic, and not a hospital. they have gone through more staffs in 7 months than wise has in 5 years.

Why are they they hitting the machinist?? Is that not how the doors stay open and helps keep everyone in a job?? How do they plan on running the company if they let all of the machinist go ??

Afraid so, 10:41.

Word is about half of the 100 will have a chance to transfer...but the other 50 won't have the option. Now, you shouldn't be on this blog at 10:41...while on company time....we might just look at that type of thing to find out who to keep and who will go. Have a nice day.

P.J. Hubba Bubba they should look for those old faded Bush/Cheney bumper stickers before handing out those Republicun slips. That is the ones responsible. Of course, you braindeads can't figure that out. Lets see, 8 years Bush, 6 years Republicuns in complete control, yadda, yadda, blah blah, those liberals...........
