Saw this big house under construction off of Old Decatur Road north of Decatur. But it doesn't look like a lot of work is going on. (Yep, crappy pics.) But nice gate - had a working fountain.
Yes this house has been worked on for the last 6-8 months they have a beautiful entrance and 24/7 security, but they have stopped working on it. It is out by my house I'm not sure why they have stopped working on it. I will let you know if anything else comes up...
Our neighbor (in town now) is building this home. And yes, he is building it as he can pay for it. The gate, he and his sons made themselves in the barn on the property. He is a veteran, and an investment broker. Very nice family and smart man!! They have lived in Decatur approx 5 years and have been working on this place little by little...started with barn so they would have place to do their work. Has had veteran's 4th of July get togethers and given tours of the property that has tremendous views.
This moron should be ashamed of himself. For years people have come, some from great distances, to photograph/paint the North Texas landscape @ sunrise/sunset. This location used to afford a sene that could not be captured anywhere else in North Texas. Now all you get is fence bars and structures. The jerk stole from society and mankind something that was not his to take.
He's a great guy and he bought the place to build his house like everybody else does. Like was said earlier, he's taking a little time to build it because he's doing it without borrowing. You gotta admire that and the fact that he and his family actually "get their hands dirty" with some of the construction. He also helps quietly with a number of community projects here in town. A great neighbor.
2:39 p.m. what ever became of the slab poured years ago for the other house (look to the right). I met them and everything was cash basis for the the first slab. I didn't know if the new power line was a factor of moving to the South.
This guy is my neighbor as well, we just built the small house 1 property over. The house you see in the pictures is just half, there is another slab a little bigger than this that hasn't been started yet. I think the total sqaure footage is going to be around 18,000. He said he plans to be finished in the summer of '09. The portion that is being built now is basically for entertainment, the other section is where he will live.
Maybe the labor force was caught and sent back to Mexico. I am a good trim carpenter (with American citizenship and legal social security number) looking for work with benefits such as health insurance. Right now I am on welfare and food stamps.

If this is the house I am thinking of.....the man, he's paying as HE builds....he does not want a mortgage!!!!!!! Seen pics.....it will be amazing!!!
Only 6-8 months? It's been a lot longer than that since I've been out that way and that tacky entrance sure looks familiar.
Polygamist compound?
Dang. I'll bet that entrance gate cost more than my entire McMansion!
What does the "B" stand for?
"Big Bucks"
"Balla"
"Bling"
"Buh-Bye"
I'd like a tour of that joint.

Maybe Sue Ann Denton could sell it.
Lisa Caraway could sell it faster.
