I was at the parade today, and I really liked the new Chargers the Sheriff's Office has. I really liked the old timey truck too. The Firebird was really awesome.

this it the sheriff's office D.A.R.E. car, it was seized and given a make over now it is used in parades and other events.

It just sits at the Sheriff's Department. Everyone knows it is not for traffic enforcement in the county. Sheriff's Department doesn't want that kind of negative publicity. Walker might not get as many votes if they attempted to work some traffic in the county. DPS Troopers can only do so much.

Decatur PD had a Ford Fairmont years ago that had a tunnel ram intake,2 four barrel carbs and a big cam. Terry Boyd(I think) drove it and Dan Myers helped build it. I saw him do a burnout on Walnut street that would have blown your mind.

7:39 Grab a towel and dry off Hombre.

After reading your post, I'm not sure if you're illegal or just illiterate.

Didn't Phil Ryan have a special "show off" old timey vehicle just for such occasions as parades? It kinda matched Ryan.

For all you that think this ride should be doing patrol are the same ones that'll complain the Sheriff isn't doing enough to conserve gas. It only gets about 8 miles to the gallon cuz it's got all bells and whistles it's a fully loaded police cruiser weighting close to 2 tons. It'll catch most everything on the road but run outa gas trying. LOL

Re: The Fairmont patrol car. I think the hi-po parts were later put back to stock and then it went the way of any retired cop car I suppose. I guess it would have been forgotten if I wasn't car crazy as a kid.
Someone may remember the Decatur Hospital ambulance of about the same period though. It had Cragar Mag Wheels, wide tires and side pipes and was jacked up a little in the rear. There was supposedly a feud between DPS and our paramedics because it was so loud and they drove too fast. I was at my little friends house on Cowan street once and a DPS Trooper had the ambulance pulled over in front of their house. I thought something bad must have been happening at the house so I called my mom to come get me! But,looking back it's funny to see the trooper and paramedics hollering at each other!

Car was not seized, it was donated. It's a show car only.
