Compassionate Conservatism

This is second hand (from Mark Davis filling in for Rush Limbaugh) but some Fox News national correspondent just said on national TV something to the effect of "I don't think it's a tragedy, he's lived a long life."

I dread the comments on this one. I want to preface all of them with this:

THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT WISE COUNTY RESIDENTS BELIEVE:

M&M said...

I never have liked the man or his politics, but I would never wish anything like that on anyone.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't aware snakes could get brain tumors!

Anonymous said...

It is unfortunate that when a Republican dies, it's a time of mourning (Nixon, Reagan, Charlton Heston, etc.), but if a Democrat dies, "he lived a long life."

Anonymous said...

That's some sad news. It's malignant. The articles I've read didn't specify the grade or type but,it's malignant and it's on the brain. I wouldn't be surprised if he's dead in days.
Well,we are going to be a sad country soon.

Anonymous said...

I would never wish a brain tumor on anyone even Ted Kennedy but.. man that really explains alot of the shit that comes out of his mouth...

Anonymous said...

Mary Jo Kupechne was unavailable for comment because he murdered her.

Anonymous said...

John McCain had some nice comments about Senator Kennedy. He says the Senator is the most effective Senator in Washington. McCain has class and doesn't have to use the hate message. Blessed are the peace makers for they shall have peace!

Jarhead said...

He did live a long life... compared to his 3 brothers.

I'm with M&M. Even though his politics are not the same as mine, I would never wish death or disease on him.

On James Carville and/or Susan Estrich I would, though.

Not really.

Anonymous said...

I'll be very curious to know what history says about him in 20 years or so.

Anonymous said...

It's strange to me that some feel they have to excuse their differences with him to have sympathy for a sick person, and a family and nation that's going to be hurting soon.

Anonymous said...

The real tragedy happened a long time ago in some creek at trapurasschick or somewhere like that.

Anonymous said...

The Kennedys are a powerful family and doubtful they give one hoot what any of us on this board have to say, especially the snide remark from 1:34. Just how sinless are you?

Hope he doesn't have to do a lot of suffering.

The only mistake a Kennedy has made is Maria Shriver who married a repugnant. But that's ok, she is a class act and will straighten out the Swartz.

Anonymous said...

He should die by drowning instead!

Yes......that's what I believe!

TXsharon said...

Barry, it reflects poorly on you that you allow certain of these comments. I expect no better of the majority of Wise County residents but you should try to rise above and by doing so raise their level.

Anonymous said...

It is hard for me to believe that a man who lived the kind of life that he lived, has done so for so long. He has done a tremendous amount of damage to the American people as far as liberalism is concerned, yet at this moment, I have nothing but feelings of compassion for him as an individual.

Anonymous said...

Only the liberal weenies will be hurting soon. This is the man that was for alternative energy but didn't want wind turbines built near his mansion that would spoil his view. And isn't it ironic that his dog is named Splash? This man is the white version of OJ Simpson.

Anonymous said...

The man who wrote the No Child Left Behind Bill that was the most expensive socialistic education program ever and we all know how well that's working. The liberal answer to anything is to throw taxpayer money at it and then tell everyone how compassionate and caring that you are. What a joke of a senator.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you txsharon.

Comments like these about a man with a malignant brain tumor do reflect on the blog owner who allows such crude remarks.

Sad.

Anonymous said...

I wish a plague on all of Wise County. Shame on you.

Jarhead said...

2:38,

"Just how sinless are you?"

My guess is that poster to whom you are referring, while perhaps a touch callous in his remark, has never left a woman for dead after driving off a bridge. That's a pretty big sin in my book. Nobody is "sinless," but some people are worse than others, i.e. Senator Kennedy.

Also, don't presume to think that Ms. Shriver married a "repugnant." The Terminator is a R.I.N.O. ~ much more so than John McCain. You can have him. And California for that matter. While you're at it take Senator Kennedy's beloved Massachusetts. And Florida and Ohio and Michigan and New York and Illinois. No good politicians have ever come from those states.

Except Reagan and Duncan Hunter.

Anonymous said...

He and I are direct opposites in our political views and I've always felt that he and the rest of the Kennedys were nothing but a bunch of ultra rich hypocrites telling us common folk how to live, while they lived in their VERY protected ivory tower, untouched by anything they mandated for the rest of us. Still, this is not a political subject, but a human compassion subject and I would not wish this on anyone, including Ted Kennedy. I hope he and his family are comforted by The Lord during this time, and in that same vain, Ted will be answering to a much higher judgement for anything to do with Mary Jo's death, soon enough, it looks like.

Anonymous said...

Hey txsharon do you think if BG was so "choosey" with his postings, that your comment would have been posted???? Freedom of speech ..I think it's part of the Constitution!

Anonymous said...

If you want to see snide remarks, you should have seen what they said when Reagan died on Moveon.org. Now there is a brilliant blog site. The sum IQ total of those idiots and TxSheehan would not equal the number of drinks Teddy had before he had his siezure.

Anonymous said...

TxSharon,

Why the hateful remarks regarding Wise County folks? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it doesn't agree with yours. I also wonder what kind of remarks you would be making if the last name of the person was Bush instead of Kennedy?

Anonymous said...

Ted Kennedy is that last survivor of the Kennedy clan. Let's see if he decides to will all that family fortune (which he didn't earn) to the U.S. treasury.

Anonymous said...

It won't be much longer now...I've got a nice spot I've been saving for you.........

Double Fake Prince of Darkness

Anonymous said...

Wise County, oh how very disappointed I am in you.

lovelit said...

Wow, some of the shocked anons must not frequent this blog all that often. What's been written here is rather tame and I will go so far as to say compassionate. Opinions on this blog always run the gamut...makes one ponder their own views sometimes; which, I like to think, may be the point.

My prayers are with the Senator and his family.

Barry's an inciter, not a uniter.

Anonymous said...

Ok JARHEAD - how much passion do YOU have for our screwed up political system?

Enough to run for office?

Doubtful!

Were drugs or alcohol involved?

As a comparison, read the comments on the Daily Kos when Reagan died.

Samples:
"The pits of hell are filled with people far less vile than Hitler. Ronald Reagan joins them"

"A man's immoral, unethical, criminal behavior is not changed by the natural, inevitable fact of his eventual death."

"If the right people will be involved in Reagan's funeral, his casket will be launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man, and a jabbering dupe of a president."

I take no pleasure in another man's death. I will not speak ill of the dead or dying. On the other hand, Kennedy has conducted his life in such a way that elicits no sympathy or compassion -- at least not from me.

Anonymous said...

Yes, he needs to account for the dear soul he needlessly killed.

Now someone else needs to atone for the 4020 he has killed.

Somehow, I think both will sleep well tonight, not much bothered about it.

Anonymous said...

As a CSPAN/CSPAN2 junkie I miss the debates between Jessie Helms and Ted Kennedy. When you heard the two extremes it made the answer much easier to figure out.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if having a tumor on your brain feels anything like trying to swim with a 4000lb. Lincoln Continetal tied to your ankle??

Anonymous said...

I cried through the whole movie.

Anonymous said...

The guy has dedicated his life to public service....which....whether or not you agree with him.....is more than ANY of you have ever done or will ever do.

So all of you....STFU!!!!!! You are not worthy!!!!

As B.Hussein's pastor said, his chickens are coming home to roost. I love Karma.

Mary Jo's revenge.....finally. Good riddance!

He still will be more alert and coherent than brain dead conservative Geroge W. Bush administration worshippers, voters and supporters.

Anonymous said...

If you have to preface condolences or statements of respect they lose a lot of meaning(all?). You don't need an excuse to feel for a human being,a family or a nation.

Anonymous said...

Well we still have a few conservatives who show compassion. Even John McCain has some kind words for Ted Kennedy calling him "the single most effective member of the Senate".

Powerful words about a powerful Democrat.

Anonymous said...

I haven't agreed with much of what he does/stands for, but I had a family memeber die recently of the same type of brain cancer. Ted Kennedy and his family are looking of a few months of hell ahead. God be with them!

mzchief said...

From what I have seen of Ted Kennedy he is a Loony Leftist Elitist Liberal who spent 45 years drawing a paycheck from the American people while foisting his leftist agenda on the U.S. all the while living a life of debauchery.

I wonder how long it will be before Teddy is driving the bus to Hell. Though his ego will probably prevent it, with any luck Teddy will immediately leave public office and put an end to his 45 year career of shoving failed socialist programs down the throats of the American people.

Anonymous said...

You guys surely give the guy a lot of credit........in fact almost prove your opposite point.

The fact is, he is one vote of 100. Any piece of legislations he supported had to have 59 more to go with it according to Senate rules.

Could it be that his successful legislation at the time represented the "will of the people" elected by the people.

No, I didn't agree with some of it, but he forged a majority to get the job done.

Let's just say that there are a few, er, "events" in my past that might prevent me from successfully running for office. ;)

My father passed away from a brain tumor. After his first surgery the Doctors told us he had a year. And he didn't even make it that long. You people who have horrible things to say about Ted Kennedy should be ashamed of yourselves. Him & his families lives will be changed forever.

mzchief said...

To Betty Boop...
Thank you, ma'am. It is nice to still see your alias on Barry's blog.

mzchief said...

To anonymous 9:23...
Just because Kennedy is going to die from brain cancer does not negate the fact he has lived his entire life as an elitist, rat bastard, sleazebag.

What is really sad is that with all of Teddy's faults, he is still better than the best Republican Senator or any other Republican Office Holder including our "I don't golf in Honor of our Patriotic Fallen Heroe Warriors" President. And probably has higher moral standards than most/any Republican citizens.

mzchief said...

To anonymous 9:54...
You may want to slow down a bit, Skippy. I doubt fewer than a handful and certainly far fewer than "most" Republican citizens have left a young woman to drown while trapped in an automobile on the bottom of a river after having been the person to have driven the vehicle into the ocean. If Ted Kennedy is your poster boy for morality and integrity you really need to raise the bar so you have a hope of crawling out of the gutter.

Judge on, Mzchief.

9:54's comment made Crown and 7 shoot out of my nose in a mixture of laughter and pity.

That was indeed the best joke I've heard in awhile! Thanks for the chuckle.

Crown & 7 at 11:53 a.m.??? Are you having hair of the dog or you just do not want to mess up a good buzz?
*LOL*

9:54, please don't make that comment in another public forum unless you are joking. If you are joking please say so because right now I am about to believe you are the BIGGEST FRICK'N IDIOT on earth. What Bean-Town clam did you crawl out of? Jeez!!
