We are also hiring a Elections Administrator for the county. This is going to be a very valuable position within the county and somewhat financially rewarding. Anyone reading this please contact Ms. Parker-Lemmon for more onfo.

Hopefully we are going to hire a couple of new county commissioners this November ;)

Biligual?? WHY???

Anonymous said...

Why not trilingual or quadlingual? I feel discriminated against at my ATM machine when it doesn't ask if I want my transaction in Japanese.

Barry, Mzchef is gonna come down on you like a 300 pound fat girl for mispelling bilingual.

Learn the language if you want to live here.

Commissioners,

Yes we will definately hire some new ones. Robert Rankin WILL be repleaced...he is not a bit concerned about county business..I called him three time and he was out all three times. Hell they work 10 hour shifts, I am here at work from my ten hours and NEVER see my boss.....Yes I work for PCT 1 and am tired of not seeing the man I VOTED for work. He is better than KYLE by I am still wanting a commissioner that works a full work week. Richardson needs to work hard to get re-elected as well, but will do a lot better than Robert "2-day a week" Rankin....

Most English speaking Americans don't know who or what they are voting for, and those people have been living here the whole time. What makes anyone think that a person who has to have the ballot read to him will have a clue? Oh yeah, they can get information from one of the gazillion spanish language newspapers, TV stations, or radio stations. You know, my history books in school had the US winning the Spanish-American War. One of you liberal capitulators needs to go back and tell those boys at the Alamo that their deaths were in vain because we're handing our country over to them anyway. By the way, whoever the elected public official was who authorized the expenditure of tax dollars for this should promptly be removed from office. I guarantee you that this is backed by a democrat. Do you think the people of Wise County who actually work for a living want their tax dollars spent that way?

No, Wise County should not be paying someone extra to speak and understand Spanish at election time. If they are "U.S. Citizens", then they need to learn the English language. That is outragious. We all pay for those positions. I would like to see that position up on the next ballot for approval by the citizens of this county.

Wise County officials seem to think that their taxpayers will go along with anything they decide they need or want. It has got to stop. When I start seeing lots of companies and businesses moving this way, I might feel different. But that is not happening.

Our tax base now is on the individuals living here. We have no industry nor do we try to attract industry.

I was born and raised here. Moved to Dallas after college and lived there for 25 years. Never paid school or county taxes as high as I do back here in Wise County.

What is wrong with this picture? What is our Economic Development Committee doing?

Maybe we all need to get more pro-active and quiz some of the folks that are running the county. Let us find out how and why we can hire someone to speak Spanish to help with elections.

Okay Crud Bonemeal. Prove a Democrat is the one pushing this. Aren't most of the country and state elected officals Republicans? Hasn't this county and the state voted Republican the last few elections?

The ballot is printed in English and Spanish. The Department of Justice requires a bilinqual election worker in voting precincts with 5% or more Spanish speaking voters.

The county commissioners upon the request of the County clerk voted to raise the pay for election clerks to $8.00.

Collectionsite, this November election ballot will be consitutional admendments and the Upper Trinity groundwater conservation district vote.

The County commissioners serve a four year term, not a three year term. At this time, no one has announced they are running to oppose the incumbent county commissioners Robert Rankin and Mikal Richardson in the November 2008 election.

Regarding your request for anyone reading this to please contact the County Clerk regarding the job of the Election Administrator, I'm sure certain quailifications like election experience may be required.

Will they also check all green cards and social security cards of the voters at the time of voting?

You are correct this November election (Now) will be constitutional amendments and the Upper Trinity groundwater conservation district vote. Early voting starts today !!!

This is a very important non-partisan issue that I hope the citizens in Wise County will come and vote on.

Also coming this November 08 is the General Elections for the Nation and State and our county commissioners will be up for re-election. Since I do not see anyone opposing them I guess it will be business as usual. But ... It is still early !!!

About the the A.E. position for the county. You are incorrect. Qualifications like election experience are not required. It would be helpful but not required.

I think it is important for anyone who may want to get involved in the community to do so without fear or intimidation. This county has some of the best people I have ever met. Citizen involvement is the key to a better America.

Serious question. You have to pass a test to communicate in English to become a citizen, correct? You have to be a citizen to vote, correct? What would be the LOGICAL reasoning behind needing bilingual election workers and having the ballot in two languages? I'd really like to hear the justification for this; it should be entertaining.
