Gold

A fellow friend and defense lawyer just got through trying a case in a nearby metro county. He emailed me some of the jury questionnaires that were used to ask the prospective jurors what they thought of cops, prosecutors, and defense lawyers. (Click to enlarge.)

what does that tell you, anyone, about their chosen profession? Seems most like mine!

You know, I've been conflicted...which way to go - criminal defense? Prosecution? Thanks for helping me make my choice!

Looks like they have a pretty intelligent group of prospective jurors for the trial...

Well, they are right. Truth hurts sometimes.

Barry, have you considered changing professions? (Oops - how you fleece the public?)

It looks like a few of them were intentionally trying not to get picked.

I guess this might explain why the bumper sticker:
"Have you hugged your lawyer today?"
... has not sold very well in the USA.

Well that sounds good until you need a good defense lawyer. When you need a good lawyer go hire Barry!!!

All defense lawyers pick up hitchhikers and take them back to Fannin county to show them their horse barns.

A person is screwed unless they need a good defense lawyer!Glad we have them.

Police Officers --- No better then the criminals.

Prosecutors --- Corrupt.

Defense Lawyers --- People I can't afford.

Reminds me of the fact that the Supreme Court Justices, whose opinions are considered holy writ, are just a bunch of lawyers.

Yeah...some people have those views about defense attorneys now -funny thing though, when they really need one, they will want the slickest junkyard dog attorney money can buy.

Unfortunately, what this poll really shows is what most polls in America show nowadays, the increasing ignorance and misguided belief system of the American public.

The Serpico comment was the best.

Incredible...the truth is, where would we be without the police officer, the prosecutor and the defense attorney? Police officers literally put their lives on the line for the public every day, the prosecutor tries to present a case that will punish the guilty offender and the defense attorney defends those that perhaps have been wongly accused. Granted, each profession has its share of "bad guys", but for the most part, these people deserve our admiration and respect. I get so tired of hearing only negative things about each of these difficult professions. I would venture to say that most of those prospective jurors have had a bad experience with one of those professions, thus the negative responses, or maybe they did just want to get out of serving as a juror. Most police officers, prosecutors and defense attorneys I know are hard working, kind and professional...and Barry is one of the most intelligent and best defense attorneys I have ever met. And if you knew him as I do, you would also respect him as much as I do...even though I don't always agree with his liberal views!
