. . . story tonight on a person allegedly posing as a Brinks Security expert in Runaway Bay in order to . . . (look really seriously into the camera) . . . "try to get into homes and con homeowners out of cash."
The story was pretty boring but the High Sheriff made an appearance.

David Walker is great and really does a good job even if he does have the "R" associated with his office. He is probably not really a "R" hardcore, but that "R" is what it takes to be elected in this county. We have lost some good civil servants in the last few years because they refused to be associated with the "R" factor and stayed loyal to the Democrat party. Even tho 25 years ago or so, only the nutjobs ran on the Repubican ticket in this county so they could be assured a spot on the ballot. The old timers remember that probably Wise county used to be BLUE, as well as Texas. Maybe due to the Yankee invasion to the Great State or something, but Liberty Loving native Texans in the past did not have the "R" always as the only way to vote.
It does not seem to me that Texans have changed. Both parties have moved to the left over the past 25 years. The D party is too far left for most Texans, and the R party has moved closer to where the D's used to be. Even with the planks in the R that we don't agree with, the D's have simply run us Liberty Loving Texans off.
Actually, let's get real, folks. What is Republican or Democrat about ANY local, elective office? Absolutely nothing. It's the person who counts, ultimately. (This is from a local, elected official.)
Walker is definately doing a great job and we appreciate it. I do not care if he is a Republican or Democrat,,,,he will have his people put both parties in jail if need be.
What???????????????????????Channel 5 has taken over from FOX 4 here in WISE COUNTY.......Barager must have pissed off the Sheriff......
Amen, 8:44.
And 8:41, you're right. The Rs are where the Ds in this state used to be: run by a racist, fat-cat power elite.
I think the Sherriff is doing a great job too but jeez, Dave... that tie is like 1995. Meet me at the Courthouse Cafe for lunch and I'll give you some of my old ties circa 2003. Image is everything when your the Wise County Sherriff!!
Blackwell,,,,you want to know what is more funny that the tie,,,,I was at a fish fry (in the country) where the Sheriff was....Channel 5 came and the Sheriff put on a tie, white shirt, and did the interview in his shorts.......funny deal and I think my wife took a picture of it.
Fine looking man! YES I would!
Is the nice Sheriff taken, don't really think he would be or his better half wouldn't let him out with that tie.
I think we need a change in Sheriffs' Walker is too young and I did vote for him but not again
The Sheriff needs a good haircut. That "country" look is way way out of style
Don't you think this should be MORE about the Brinks man trying to get into people's home than what the sheriff is wearing. You people need to look in the mirror at what you are wearing....
1:55.
Okay I just looked at myself in the mirror and I look fabulous.
Are you weraing the standard Wise County uniform? Dirty Wranglers, steel-toed boots and either Carhartt or RealTree camo shirt/jacket combo?
No, do you?
Mr. Blackwell...I know a plethora of outstanding individuals that that wear Wranglers, steel-toed boots, Carhart and/or Camo. It is people like you that buy into stereotypes that scare me. On one hand you (probably) fiercly denounce that you are racist or sexist, because you consider yourself educated, but ironically you are quick to embrace stereotypes as shown in your comments. Stereotypting is the gateway to racism and prejudice, which clearly shows their is an underlying problem with your thought processes. It is folks like you that are the reason we have still have a major problem with race and class in this country.
I tend to like to get to know someone, if you will, before I pass judgement. You have to let your stereotypical guard down, and reach out and shake some hands of these people you might think are beneath you because of the clothes they are "weraing".
A good portion of my friends from college are of other ethnicities or walks of life, simply because I found the courage to ignore the stereotypes and just get to know them. I am not saying you are not going to meet some bad apples, but do not let the few define the many.
2:23 I doubt it. Their probably wearing a blue uniform with a ossifers badge duct taped on.
Wow, "The Devil", are we in a bad mood today or what? I'm sure Mr. Blackwell was kidding and acted in defense only.
I've been trying to get my hubby away of those 'clean" wranglers for many years. I guess I need to stop because I certainly didn't realize it was a race or class thing. How dare I get him to look hip with the times. Shame on me.
Devil
One of my best friends and neighbors "weras" the exact uniform I described in my last post and I give him hell about it all the time. He is salt of the earth and would give me the shirt off my back if I asked. The best thing about him is that he can take a joke.
Can you?
Obviously not. Go back to Hell.
I don't understand you people, this is not about clothing it is about someone posing as a "BRINKS SECURITY GUARD" getting into your home and getting cash or whatever else he can get his hands on.
We would just like to see Wise County represented by a PROFESIONALLY DRESSED sheriff and not some back woods....well I wont go there BUT may I recommend buying some SOLID COLOR TIES (navy, burgundy, or BURNT ORANGE)you just cant go wrong with solid colors(NO PINK or you will get more he//)
The Brinks imposter is probably a "R" just trying to pull "himself up by his own boot straps" as Dick Armey says and this is the quickest way to pull he could think of maybe. Seems like the D's are the ones that moved toward the center with the R's moving noecon right. The R's of today do not compare with the Goldwater Republicans of the past. Not all R's go to the hard right, but not all D's go to the hard left either. The local election thing is not so "party mattering" either, except when Walker was running before, some of the political ads in the WCM were simply stating: "Vote Republican."
I like the sheriff, but I don't like how his officers keep arresting me. Whats up with that?
For the Freedom Loving Texans, a quote from W. And Texas Freedom Lovers must love the patriot act because giving up Freedom makes us safe. Hey, if that what's it takes...
"There ought to be limits to freedom."
G.W.Bush - May 21, 1999
4:19 I don't worry about it because I'm smart enough not to fall for some conn who shows up at my door trying to scam me into a security system. I may be wrong but, anyone who shows up at my door, calls or emails me, etc. trying to sell me something is pushing a scam. You can't be too careful with the way the world is today. You have to watch your back or you'll get taken everytime.
Yeah, we know what the story is about, but anytime our good sheriff is mentioned we get a kick out of messing with him.
The women think he's hot and the guys are jealous, even if he wears bad ties.
We loves us some Sheriff Walker.
