Nobody Puts Baby In A Corner

Fox 4 News aired a story tonight on Argyle High School's crackdown on Dirty Dancing. For some crazy reason, the superintendent showed this youtube video on a big screen tonight during a community meeting. Apparently, he was using it as an example of what he saw at a "school dance earlier this month." Fox 4 played a bit of it as well.

His quote: "He's grabbing. He's pressing his privates up against her . . . . And then he picks her up and puts his hand right on her private part . . . . Some of these students [at our dance] . . . are actually having their private parts touching each other on the dance floor through the clothing and that could be determined sexual assault."

Edit: A caller to The Ticket this morning claimed the superintendent was a Mormon who was trying to force his values on the students.

The Mom who said "they just don't understand times have changed" seemed to think it was ok for her darling daughter to get cornholed through her clothes on school property.

The fact that they had to stop the music several times at the dance to break the kids up shows a lack of leadership. They should have stopped it once with a warning then the second time shut the dance down - or at least throw the offenders off of the dance floor.

I remember church dances where our youth director would go around saying "Leave room for the Holy Spirit!" The 80's - good times.

How about it, Lawyer Barry:Does Dirty Dancing between consenting teens constitute sexual assault? And if so, which party do you charge/indict?

Good post 10:42 - the leaders should tell the kids what kind of dancing will be unacceptable.

Even dancing apart can result in bumping and grinding.

I guess moderation is now out the door.

What is wrong with Argyle ISD? Those old fogies need to get with the times and realize dry humping on the dance floor is what every NORMAL kid does.

The girls are ONLY buffing up their routine for their job at the local strip club.

Geezzzeeee!

The horn dog kids need to be kicked out of the dance the FIRST time they are caught nasty dancing. It is the SCHOOL'S dance and the SCHOOL gets to determine the type of dancing and music permitted at the SCHOOL'S dance.

I'd love to look some of these parents in the eye and give them a big "DUH" - "what were you thinking?"
It seems that anything goes these days. Our society has become way too permissive. Sock hops in the gym with nuns chaperoning - now there's an experience and we could use more of it in these days of bumping and grinding.

I still say we could use a few good nuns around. They made sure to enforce manners, decency & courtesy. I know there are currently many good teachers in public schools as well; our family has several. However, as indicated by the parent interviewed on TV last night, when common sense and basic values aren't practiced in the home............

Maybe we can keep lowering our standards and expectations of our kids so that anything and everything is acceptable.

I realize I'm old school but "they are just going to do it anyway" is not an acceptable reason for becoming more and more permissable of sex, alcohol use, etc.

Man, that school looks a lot like someone's living room or den.

But "slow dancing" is OK? Aren't there just as many points touching when two kids go face to face from top to bottom?

Here's the deal, Wake Up America!
The students Mother is an idiot. I am sure she's also a big supporter of talking to her child about sex and how the daughter should abstain from sex until she's married. However,"kid's are from a different generation" wake up you "ditz". You don't want her having sex at an early age but you will allow her to bunp and grind with some kid who's hormones are flying out the roof, get real lady. If they get a "charge" from that type of dancing you know they're thinking about what type of "charge" they'll get with their clothes off. Generations may have changed but being human hasn't. Look what happened to baby.

...er... I'm pretty sure that I was taught that dancing was a sin. This might be why.

Where was the old coach who should have been in charge of this thing? All he had to do would have been warn them about the dry-grind and then turn all the lights on until it stopped. There's nothing like getting all the other kids angry at you about a "lights on" dance to make a point.

If her butt cheek counts as a "private part", there are some coaches that need to go to jail.

Helloooo: I'm Dr. Phillip U. Spinkter.

Banjo music has long been associated as a source of sexual arousal in post pubesscent public school people.

It's Rhythmic droning rolling motion entices youngsters into a kind of musical mating madness characterized by a hypnotic hip displacing humping ho-down.

It would behove the school adminstration to immediately mount a "Ban the Banjo" campaign by bearing a brightly embossed banner of said campaign on the front steps of the building boldly banning Banjo's.

I have seen a dance like that, it only cost $20.00 and happened right at my own table. Fun times

If they were actually f***ing, then I would say it is a problem, but they are not. Wake up old farts, quit trying to legislate morality. Take responsibility for your own kids, not everyone elses.

10:42..The Holy Spirit has been responsible for far more teen pregnancies than dirty dancing. At least properly educated children will use protection when they have sex, and yes they will have sex, dance or no dance. I would rather teach my child what to do if they decide to have sex, rather than just tell them don't do it, since about 80% of all teens have sex anyway.

I do agree with mzchief though, it is the schools dance so they can call the shots!

I'm just glad the folks in Argyle are focused on this dirty dancin thing this week instead of the Bridgeport Bulls coming to town to crush their football team on Friday.

The DEVIL is RIGHT!!

Kids will do what ever(i.e. sex)they want to do when ever they find the opportunity to.

Been there-done that!!

All you can do is educate them, and try to hinder all opportunities!!

Otherwise, I really dont see a problem with the dancing if its just that-DANCING. Hip Hop,bumping and grinding, whatever you want to call it is what is HOT these days.

remember: SEX SELLS is'nt that why all you guys are here anyways, to see BARRYS HOT PIECE OF A$$ for the day!! Us ladies are only here for the NEWS that seems to be all we can get ;)
