I simply do not believe that. I don't believe a cop was "randomly" pulling people over nor do I believe her kids said that. I think she is simply calling attention to the Irving "arrest and deport" policy that is all over the news.
Uh, and let me label this post an opinion.

Don't believe which part? The police officer pulling people over or sending them to Mexico? I don't believe anyone is being sent to Mexico either from what I can see.
Lets all be mindfull of the effect the "Kids" are having on the nation! The ones that are being taught not to trust the police. The ones that are being taught that any action taken is bigoted and racist. Yep...Lets ALL be mindfull.
I don't believe that the police are randomly pulling people over without probable cause or some traffic offense. I don't think they are deporting anyone either. It's kind of scary the way the authorities can choose not to enforce a law. It's like they decided that they weren't going to arrest anyone for rape, robbery, murder, or burglary any more. It's not a matter of bigotry; it's a matter of enforcing a law equally. My grandparent and great grandparents immigrated legally through NYC. They didn't just come swimming out of the Atlantic Ocean and scurry inland to sneak around hopeing the authorities wouldn't find them.

We just FIRED the hired help (caucasion) who were taking advantage of our elderly folks. Strange how we can do that to "our own" yet we cannot deport foreigners who come here illegally to take advantage of all Americans.

Oh, their being deported alright. The problem is, they make it back to the US so fast you hardly know their gone.
What a pathetic parent. If your kids are afraid of the boogeyman, why let them continue to believe it exists? This lady just needs to tell your kids to relax and that they are NOT going to be sent to Mexico. If my kids were having nightmares and afraid of the cops and being picked up and sent to Mexico, I would find the nearest police officer, take my kids up to that officer, and say "officer, my kids have this crazy idea that you're going to haul them off to Mexico".
makes me want to go to irving and spend some money. maybe that way they can afford more cops to deport some more illegal immigrants. this to me is such a black and white issue to everyone except THE ILLEGALS AND THERE FAMILIES. hince the term ILLEGAL
got this in an email from a friend, don't know if it is true or not but thought it was funny.
I have a friend who is president of his homeowners association in the Dallas, Texas suburbs. They were having a terrible problem with litter near some of his association's homes. The reason, according to Wallace (my friend), is that six very large, luxurious new houses are being built right next to their community.
The trash was coming from the Mexican laborers working at the construction sites and included bags from McDonald's, Burger King and 7-11, plus coffee cups, napkins, cigarette butts, Coke cans, empty bottles, etc. He went to see the site supervisor and even the general contractor, politely urging them to get their workers not to litter the neighborhood, to no avail. He called the city, county, and police, and got no help there either.
So here's what his community did They organized about twenty folks, named themselves "Inner Neighborhood Services" and arranged to go out at lunch time and police the trash themselves. It is what they did while picking up the trash that is so hilarious.
They bought navy blue baseball caps and had the initials "INS" embroidered in gold on the caps.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what they hoped people might mistakenly think the letters really stand for.
After the Inner Neighborhood Services group's first lunch time pickup detail, with all of them wearing their caps and some carrying cameras, 46 out of the total of 68 construction workers did not show up for work the next morning -- and haven't come back yet.
It has been 10 days now.
The General Contractor, I'm told, is mad but can't say anything publicly because he could be busted for hiring illegal aliens.
Wallace and his lunch buddies can't be accused of impersonating federal personnel, because they have the official name of the group recorded in their homeowner association minutes along with a notation about the vote to approve formation of the new sub-committee, and besides, they informed the INS in advance of their plans, and according to Wallace, the INS said basically, "Have at It"!
So folks, I think you could say that Texas ingenuity triumphs again!

Wow, fight an apocryphal story with apocryphal stories. Way to go. Look, people are being deported. In case you missed the news, Irving leads the nation in deportations (see story at http://threewisemen.blogspot.com/2007/09/is-city-of-irving-practicing-racist-law.html). There are some, to be sure, who think that we shouldn't enforce the immigration laws and are whining about this situation. That's not the issue though. The issue is whether or not Irving is practicing discriminatory enforcement against Irving's citizens. Unfortunately, it seems likely that it is (see also http://threewisemen.blogspot.com/2007/10/constitution-and-racial-profiling.html). Now for those of you who always say you don't hate Mexicans, you just hate illegals, are you not against racial profiling of Hispanic US citizens or legal residents?
My ancestors walked here about 12,000 years ago (the most agreed-upon probable era) and everyone else is a recent arrival (Mr. honcho's ancestors were wetbacks too). I don't recall Native nations handing out Visas or Green Cards, and surely the height of illegal immigration is killing the previous landowners. At least we don't have to deal with that.

What a heart-warming story. Clearly back in the old days immigrants from other countries had so much greater respect for our law, and Americans were so clearly not nativist and welcomed them with open arms. Yes, I too yearn for those days.

I am presently teaching my child that when people whine and moan about hearing telephone menus in English, it has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with nativism and xenophobia and yes, racism. Better deport me or lock me up.
By the way, for what it's worth I'm a Native American and consider about all of you to be illegals and criminals. And yet you won't heed your own arguments and go away. Too bad.
Good for the Irving Police Department. If you are here legally then you don't have to worry about anything. If not then I suggest that you high tail it back to Mexico before you get arrested.
