Say What?

I don't think you can say that. (From The Evil Empire game a moment ago.) Edit: After creating this thing, I sent it to a couple of national sports blogs (Awful Announcing and Deadspin.) Both posted it immediately (with Deadspin incorrectly crediting Awful Announcing instead of me.) Bottom line: The number of hits this video is going to get will be mind blowing. Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it's kinda fun. Edit: And now a big debate has begun across the nation. Did he say "face rape" or "face rake"? And shouldn't every beautiful Saturday afternoon be spent debating that topic? Edit: As of Monday morning, the number of views were 49,486

I have been watching that game, and I have noticed a trend in college and the pros that the quality of officiating has declined. It's like they get confused over what they should call. In the Dallas/Chicago game and in the Dallas/Buffalo game, I saw several questionable calls, and watching the replay showed that there was no infraction. That particular play in the clip clearly shows a personal foul face mask worth 15 yards from the point of the infraction. I don't know what the explanation might be, but I don't think the refs are as good as they used to be.

Sounds like "raped" not "raked" to me. What do you suppose the announcer claims he said?

The announcer was exactly right. Call it what you want, the officiating is embarrassing. The metaphorical reference gets to the point as well.

I heard rake at first and rape the second time. Who knows.

True, the official should have called the face mask penalty - 15 yards. But amid all that debate & replaying it multiple times during the game, nobody seemed to notice that the ball bounced on the ground before he caught it & the official said it was a catch - which was more than the 15 yard penalty would have been.

It sounds like "rake" as in "rake your fingers across his face." Before I even read "face raped" I thought it sounded like "face raked."

Speaking of raped... the Aggies got azz raped by Tech!!

Where you at Saw Em Off?? Kinda quiet, aren't you?

It's no fun when you have to actually play a good team, huh?

What a joke.

Face raked. "Raking" is a term that is used to describe that sort of thing, so I'm sure that's what was on his mind.

Kind of like Texas playing OU?
Huh?

Never heard of the "face rape" but I am pretty familiar with the "skull f*ck".

As if it wasn't bad enough that my Cyclones got their butts kicked by Texas, Blythe for sure got FACE RAPED!

saw-e-agg, plese weigh in on this controversy. Aggy fans should definitely recognize a rape after Saturday's loss to Tech.

The Aggies didn't want to tackle the Tech players because they had "Tee Tee" on their helmets.
