Wise Co. may have our share of undesirables, but we don't have a monopoly on that---every county is similarly blessed.
Wise Co. is a good place to live and work--plenty of good folks here along with those that everyone likes to associate with us. Seems like a few of our residents have some "axes" to grind because of some bad experiences they might have had in our area. I am sorry for their bad experiences, but you can't condemn the population of a whole county for the actions or appearance of a backward few---just as you can't stereotype and condemn the individuals of a whole race.
Let's all try to overlook some of the "stereotypes" that some have tried to hang on Wise County residents and do our best to continue to make Wise County an even better place to live and work by proper example and community service.
Is this the bunch they modeled "The Hills Have Eyes" and "The Hills Have Eyes 2" after? If we hunted and killed them, would it be murder, cruelty to animals, or littering? They might not be human.
I get so tired of people playing the race card. Just because she was stabbed, beaten and raped does not mean that they did it because she was black. I am sure these upstanding citezens have a perfectly good reason why they tortured her.
10:48 you've somehow lost the whole spirit and purpose of Barry's blog.
I mean, wasn't the internet made so consumers could go out and buy a computer on deferred payments, and from the safety and security of their homes, make fun of less fortunate lawless outcasts of their county or elswhere?
1:56--I laugh at ourselves along with you and Barry, but we need to occassionally let the rest of the world know that there are plenty of Wise County residents who have an IQ above 65 and don't resemble Larry the Cable Guy in appearance. We need to put our best foot forward when communicating with the media, visitors, or prospective residents---our county demographics are going to continue to change dramatically in the next 10 years---and I think this will be a good thing for all of us.
Hmmm... I live in Wise County and am often embarassed when I go into Wal-Mart and realize that I'm the only male not wearing either RealTree Camo or something NASCAR related... Anyhoo... I had the chance to spend a couple days in Hood County (Granbury) last weekend ~ 6800 people in the city and just over 50,000 in the county ~ and I was amazed at how much better the infrastructure is there for essentially the same population... and the taxes are lower!! The schools are better, there was a Corvette show on the square and the sidewalks were packed. What do we have? A flooring store, Sweetie Pie's, attorney's offices (waste of space) and a recording of some gawd-awful screeching (they stopped that didn't they?). I don't know, folks... I kinda felt like Wise county was Hood county's retarded little brother... Maybe we should flood part of the county and make a big lake out of it...
Decatur and Bridgeport fussing over who gets what is like two fleas arguing over which owns the dog. If the two would cooperate more fully, a lot of resources would become available for overall improvements that would benefit both significantly. Seems there are fits and starts to that concept, but nothing that sticks.
3:45,after two comments u wanted us to know, it's alright to come out of the Newark closet. Speak again young child and we will respond again and again. Don't get tired of reading and don't go to HOOD county, u will need an IQ of at least 66....and 70.. Barry can get u a GED for HOOD County, 72 is tops for the hillbillies.
MAYBE THE LORD WON'T BE AS HARD ON THOSE OF YOU WHO "JUDGE" PEOPLE BY THEIR LOOOKS. YA KNOW SOME FOLKS MAY BE DOWN ON THEIR LUCK BUT WHAT GIVES YA'LL THE RIGHT TO BE SOOO JUDGEMENTAL. JUST REMEMBER JUDGE NOT LEAST YE BE JUDGED!!! THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY AND GIVE THE LESS FORTUNATE A BREAK!! GOD HAS GRANTED YOU ONE TOO MANY!!! GOD BLESS ~~~
10:11, we're sorry for judging the ugly rapists so harshly. You're right, holding and torturing a victim for a week is indeed just a cry for help on their part. Their defense should be "just a little down on or luck" so we kidnapped and tortured a girl for a week. It was therapy for us, basically.
To 10:19... *OTFLOLHysterically* Wow! And people call me a "smartass" (among other things)? YOU just won the 2007 International Smartass Award! *STILLLOL*
10:11 - The saying is "Judge not, LEST ye be judged." But, I agree with you. Judging others is not wise. Another saying is "There, but for the grace of God, go I." Wonder how many of you people on here can't figure what that means, huh?

Is it me, or does the guy on the bottom-right look sorta like David Walker? Just wondering...maybe after a big tequila drunk...
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother.
Each one of these insects should be shot in the f*cking face.

The way you all talk about Wise County makes me so happy we didn't move to Decatur when we moved back to Texas.

These people look like parents I saw at "Meet the Teacher Night" at the school where I teach.

Gee everyone has been talking about Wise County residents looking like these people.
Uh have you guys been to Bowie here lately?
10:48 Good News! we're getting them all out on a PR Bond on the condition that they stay at your place until we can get this cleared up.
