It's not real. First, it's not the space shuttle. The two shuttle launch pads are much closer to the ocean than from where the smoke plumes eminate on this shot. And, the flame trail is much too long for something at that distance from the photographer, given the scale in relation the the vapor clouds that at ground level would have dispersed a great distance. It's a very good fake, but not good enough if one understands relative distances and scales.

This photo is taken from space or very high altitude. The smoke plume is from the Fla coast.

yes, it is real.
The above-displayed photographs do capture the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis (NASA Mission STS-115) from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on 9 September 2006. However, the pictures were not (as claimed in the accompanying text) taken from the International Space Station (ISS), which would be at a considerably higher altitude than shown here, but rather from NASA/JSC WB-57 High Altitude Research aircraft.
