Adios, Macaca

Amazingly, the Democrats took Virginia tonight (or at least the AP says so) and now will control both houses of Congress. I know George W. is a lame duck but, man, the Republicans are sooooo going to blame him for this disaster. He might as well have leprosy because no one will want to be near him. It's been a long fall from grabbing that bullhorn shortly after 9/11.

Dems seem to have had all the answers recently when using hindsight. Let's see how much better things get now that they are in control and are forced to actually act ahead of or during issues or crises.

Dems don't know anything! But big government! Now it will cost me lots of money!

Conservative Democrats won in Tuesday election. Let's hope a balanced budget and pay as you go policies are the first bills to be passed.

Tax breaks for the very wealthy did not help anyone in Wise County.

Both parties need to work together to solve many of the problems facing our country.

The election proved only a moderate to the middle candidate can take the White House in 2008!

Lets hear all the rah rahs when the Dems stick it up your rear with taxes and more welfare and more illegal immigrants. Who is going to pay????? ALL OF US !!!!

"More illegal immigrants"?!?!??!?

Get real. Like that problem could possibly GET worse that W has allowed it to become.

8:55...we are already the ones paying because of big business. Let's take Wal-Mart for example. They are the richest company in the world and they get away with paying their employees wages that are below the poverty line and no insurance for employees. Instead they actually tell their employees about the benefits they can recieve from the gov., including food stamps and Medicaid. So who is taking care of the Wal-Mart employees..............WE ARE!!!!!

Recall Bush's inane claim that his very narrow win in 2004 gave him "great political capital" to do what he wanted. He didn't really have that capital and he squandered what he had. This will go down as one of the most inept administrations in our history. I hope the next two years gets us turned to a better direction. The Democratic majority now has the responsibility do perform - not just talk.

Grow up people and get in the real world...Dems are notorious for using our money to take care of those who refuse to take care of themselves..and why should they? Liberals will take care of them...I never heard ONE alternative plan to W's from demos...just a lot of whining and complaining....hang onto your wallets...libs are coming !!!!!!

Hello tax increases. Goodbye booming economy. When is gas going back up to over 3 dollars a gallon like the liberals promised after the election?

Democrats and terrorists are celebrating the Dems' win on Tuesday. So let's use some pre-election benchmarks to measure how well the Democrat-controlled Congress does the next few years:

* The stock market recently hit historic highs;

* Unemployment recently fell to historic lows;

* No terrorist attacks on American territory in five years;

* An increase in federal tax revenues from "relatively wealthy taxpayers" (according to the New York Times), attributed by analysts to the Bush tax cuts.

That's a good enough list to measure against. Time for Democrats to shut up and put up.

Incidentally, 9:32 AM: Wal-Mart provides a zillion jobs for low-skilled workers at legal wages, and sells low-cost merchandise to consumers. Penalizing Wal-Mart for its success is beyond stupid. Read Aesop's "The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs," for God's sake.

By the way, if Democrats spend the next two years on witchhunts and high-profile hearings, you'll have Newt Gingrich for your next President. Now that would be a good thing.

2:53 Just let me remind you that the "record high" in the stock market you refer to is a DOW number that finally returned to where it was in 2000. Yes, it took 7 years to return to where it was where Clinton left it. And this is not adjusted for inflation. Besides, the broader indexes like the Russell 1000 or the NASDAQ are far below their levels of 2000. So let's not get too giddy over the recent DOW numbers unless you understand what they actually represent - not just parrot what limp-brained right-wing pundits tell you.

10:23 tell it like it is brothur ! I lost more money with "The cigar man " than Carter gots peanuts ! Demo's, dem some give it all to the po pricks . They even keep a good niger down ! Know whut I be sayin ?

10:23 PM: The "record high" is still the "record high," is it not? Are you arguing that 11,755.35 is less than 11,750.28? Please show your work.

Instead of wasting time trying to insult me, you should have done your homework before you responded. As it is, all you did was embarrass yourself. Try getting past your hatred of Bush and thinking instead of just bobbing your head and moving your lips to whatever your Liberal puppeteers say.

By the way, for those who want facts, the source for my numbers is money.cnn.com, October 3, 2006

And another thing, ANON 10:23 PM, Bush's economic policy had to overcome a recession that economists say started during the Clinton administration.

There was also that unpleasantness on September 11, 2001. (Although Liberals like to pretend it never happened.)

Those kinds of things can disrupt an economy a bit.

wordkyle, as your own link indicates, it has taken 6 years to get back to where some market indicators were in 2000. That's a fact. How much have your expenses risen in the same period? Yes, the economy is finally recovering to 2000 level - with huge increases in government spending. That's your tax money AND debt that your children will have to pay back. Government employment has expanded tremendously in the conservative Bush administration. I thot you were opposed to big government. And do you remember what you paid for energy back in 2000? What was oil then vs. now? 9/11 did cause a blip in our economy, while Bush mismanagement of his war machine has cost all of us money and some of us our relatives' lives. Not a record I'd be proud of.

11:13 AM: For some reason you keep trying to argue that the historic high is not the historic high. You're arguing against numbers.

To call September 11 and its aftermath a "blip" is ignorant and naive, at best. Ask the airline industry. Combined with the Clinton recession, it was a deep hole that America had to escape.

My initial post was to suggest benchmarks that the Democrat congress could be measured against. The benchmarks are facts; try as you might, you can't rewrite history to change them.

Again, Islamic terrorists, Hugo Chavez and Democrats are celebrating their election victory. Let's see what they do with it.

No one should blame the president. It is idiots like you and the riciculous inept media that we blame.
