The second Pirates of the Caribbean movie opened yesterday to a record toll of $55 million. No movie has made more money in a single day than that.
Of course, you never hear about what the figure would be if justified for inflation. I paid $8.50 for a single ticket last weekend. It's a lot easier to get to $55 million at $8.50 a pop than it would be at $3.50 a pop twenty years ago.
And I'm not sure I understand the fascination with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Part of it is because Johnny Depp is VERY sexy and is a terrific actor who does a great job in this movie!
I went to the second one after seeing the first when it came out, andI was disappointed. They took the best thing about the movie(depp)and just made him a parody of himself.
In my opinion Superman returns was the beter movie.
I thought it was well done....one of the better sequals if you ask me.

You would not believe the line for this movie last night...
thats why you buy tickets at 9:00 am from the comfort of you office chair...he he he. Yeah...there were people trying to buy tickets off of my friend (who also bought ahead of time.)
I love Depp, and he was still great in the sequel. The movie itself was too drawn out and kind of scattered, but that's just me. I did like how they didn't forget even the minute characters; everyone was back in II. And I'll still go see the third one seeing as how they HAVE to make it a trilogy.
