Not to nit-pik, but isn't KXAS actually Channel 5?
And why does everyone always say they are going to spend time with their family?

This may be speculation, but her cancer may not be in remission any longer...
They want to spend time with their children. If you had your own children...you'd understand why they say that.
Good. I've never liked her anyway. I never knew that she had cancer, but IMO she's always seemed pompous, arrogant, and uncaring to me. It's always seemed that she's in there for the rich man and the poor has fallen by the wayside in Dallas. But, then again, what do I know. I live in Decatur (a Dallas wanna-be community).

Deep down when someone says they are going to spend time with the family I really think they got caught doing something wrong and it's all being kept under wraps.
Is that a sign that I've become cynical?
Sometime I think "spend more time with family" means I'm not sure what I'm going to do-so until I figure it out I'm going to spend sometime with family.
She would have to be tough to be mayor of Dallas.
But it takes more than that to raise kids.
I wish her well.
I think she's great and I do believe her when she says she is spending more time with her kids because of their ages and if she had sought re-election, the would be entering college.
I don't think 'spend time with family' is quite the term as spend 'more' time with family. She is a great leader, role model, articulate, tough, and a lady.
I do hope that her health is not the issue as 7:07 said, but one never knows these things as we should not. I hope her privacy is respected.
I have to add too that I loved Ron Kirk when he was mayor. I also think Mike Moncreif (Fort Worth mayor) is a pretty good guy too.
I find her a very attractive middle-aged woman who knows how to dress which makes her all the more sexy to me.
