In honor of the first moonwalk, Letterman just remarked that while our country could put a man on the moon, we just cannot put one on Condi Rice. (rimshot)
Jeeezzzzz! When EVERY abortion and stem cell research opponent steps up and embraces with the same vigor the anti-death penalty position then and ONLY then can they claim to be "pro-life" and possess some sort of moral superiority that grants them the right to foist THEIR beliefs on the rest of the country. Until that point they remain just as morally flawed as the rest of the country and are entitled to make choices for THEIR lives and let the rest of the people make their own choices.
How many innocent precious lives have been snuffed out since Roe v Wade was found constitutional? Liberals are so hypocritical when they sympathize with Hezbolla being killed by Israelis after invading Israel and then retreating and hiding behind women's skirts but it's ok to kill babys that were supposedly safe in a mothers womb. Save the terrorists, abort the babies. How many Iraqis were murdered, tortured and raped under the regime of Saddam?
Why hasn't he banned in vitro fertilization if he so worried about the sanctity of life? Many more embryos are stuck in a freezer never to be used, and are tossed out.
Oh "The Good Years", first bombing of the WTC, Waco, USS COLE, The Khobar Towers, little Elian Gonzalez, Whitewater, Monica, Kosovo, Mogadeshu, the lost FBI files found in Hillary's bedroom with her fingerprints on them, travelgate, etc. etc. Gosh, I'm getting moist just thinkin back on them.
11:10 Get a clue! Israelis aren't killing Hezbolla! They are killing innocent people and thereby creating more terrorists. Killing and violence won't stop terrorists. It never has and it never will. Just like prohibition didn't stop people from drinking and laws won't stop abortion. If you keep falling in the same hole, take a different path.
Too bad you neocons can't reason through anything!

Every life is precious, except the aborted ones. Let's just do away with all laws and anything goes. Is that what you are saying? NSA, please keep an eye on Txsharon.
Every life is precious, except the aborted babies. Tx, the village called and wants their idiot back. Did you and Cindy Sheehan fall out of the same tree? Calling all cars, calling all cars, Txsharon has escaped and blogging in Wise County.
Kool-Aide is your drug. It makes you feel good and keeps you from thinking. Kool-Aid is your mistress. With Kool-Aid you don't have to think or worry about the realities of life you can simply rest your head on the soft shoulder of your mistress, Kool-Aid.
Have a big long pull off that Kool-Aide because where we are headed you are sure going to need it.
Txsharon, I think the fact that your ID links directly to the Wise County Democrat site should be kept in mind when you post. The level of integrity in calling people "neocons" and slamming all-things Republican isn't an attractive representation of your party. It merely promotes that all-encompassing, widening divide that gets us nowhere.
Thanks comment for pointing that out. I went to the wcd web page and they have a popular stories section and the first one says "Hard to swallow'. I didn't know Monica Lewinsky was writing stories for wc democrats, but I guess anything is possible. I guess she speaks for Sharon also.
Comment: Thanks for pointing that out. I'll leave the link off from now on. However, neocon is short for neo conservative. Is that a bad thing in the conservative world? Is it worse than the many names I have been called? My preference is to rise above the name-calling but there are too many here deeply ingrained in that and they are afraid to show their identity.
Have I "slammed all-things" Republican? Hardly. Exposed some hypocrisy of the current president, yes. I find it distressing that there are no more Nixonian Republicans left. Very sad indeed. If I were a Republican, I would be most upset with my party.
anon: Did you read the "Hard to Swallow" article? I doubt it.
I'm pro life, of course. But, sadly, it's too late to have a dialogue about it today because I have many promises to keep and have been looking into this box for long enough. Maybe next time. I'm looking forward to the day you people can talk about something other than abortion and Clinton.
Anon, you can keep your Icon for Unity. Wasn't applying for it...don't think anyone suggested it either. But, true to form, if ANYone says anything w/an ID outside of Anonymous "on this board," the punches start coming...
I'm used to it. And yeah, Txsharon actually took the heat in place of me, for a change....I should really send her flowers....
What heat? I think it was the other way around, Comment.
I haven't seen anyone address the issues I posted. The only thing any of you can say to all the horror that is happening around us all the time is "Ack! Abortion!"
Pro-abortion is neocon framing. I have never known anyone in my entire life who is pro-abortion--not one single person.
Sharon, meet Hillary. Hillary, meet Sharon. Sharon, now you've met someone that believes in abortion. At least she did this week. There must be about a million woman out there that believe in it. Ack
To txsharon... Perhaps the reason people are unwilling to address the issues posted by YOU is because this is Barry's blog and the particular issue is "Every Life Is Precious."
If you are interested in having addressed YOUR issues you might consider producing a blog that is interesting enough to attract people who are willing to submit their comments.
Incidentally, though I am most comfortable with the Libertarian ideology and find it difficult to embrace MUCH of the Republican ideology people like YOU make it abundantly clear why I could NEVER feel comfortable in finding common ground with the Democrat's ideology.
mzchief: Your comment is interesting to me since it was your 11:01 post that, in part, motivated me to show how “they” never really answer any of the challenges to their stance. Nor did they respond to clue patrol 11:51. Both posts are valid points that, I believe, merit a response. Also worthy of a response is the link I posted where U.S. soldiers claim they were ordered to kill young men of military age—talk about your late term abortion--and the subject of war fits nicely with the topic.
I’m guessing that the purpose of posting such topics is to cause people to think. However, I could be wrong about that. Maybe the purpose is for people to sling barbs at one another and make lewd comments. If it’s the latter, well…good job everyone.
Let's let txsharon have the last word so she won't lose her lunch. I have things to do also, so I am going to make like a true democrat and cut and run.
To txsharon... I have no reason to doubt your explanation of your original intention for posting your initial comment however; your original intention does not explain your subsequent posts. Perhaps you would be well served to review YOUR post at 10:35 AM.
My commentary regarding my political preferences was done in an attempt to allow people to better understand MY perspective. Rarely is MY reason for posting a comment to “sling barbs” or to attempt to make anyone feel inferior. However, there is the exception of my comment regarding Christina disrespecting my favourite pair of sling backs. I am still outraged she would pair an animal print bag with an animal print shoe. Animal print needs to be done in VERY small amounts.
My personality prevents me from being able to spit into the wind and swear it is raining. Explaining why I frequently elect NOT to redress the comments from another poster upon my realizing that my effort would be wasted on someone who is so solidly entrenched in their opinions that there is NOTHING I could say to alter their position.
There is no doubt you are articulate and have a great passion for your opinions. I respect those qualities in you just as I respect those same qualities in reagan rip. I must admit to a greater sense of respect and and that I give greater weight to the opinions expressed by those who have taken to time to obtain a "blogger display name."
Gawd...what f&*%king difference does it make if someone has a blogger name? I have created two blogger names, but I can't remember the password for either one. REAL people are behind anonymous! I just love that about some of you people....you just write off whoever you want, especially if their anons. Give it up sister! Txsharon....I love you.
mzchief: My 10:35 post was a parody of the comments here from my view and not an attempt to engage in conversation on those particular subjects. It seems that often the only response given by certain posters, no matter the subject, is the abortion response. Surreal.
I do think that killing innocents in war is pertinent to the topic as is the fact that our troops have inferior body armor. People die in and because of both of those situations. Are Lebanese lives less valuable then Israeli lives? Are the lives of the Secret Service more valuable than our sons, daughters, brothers, husbands, etc.? Those are questions deserving of answers. I find the hypocrisy unfathomable.
If you read my comments again, you might see that they are on topic especially if you read the comment to which I was responding.
I have not witnessed excessive barb slinging coming from you so that part of my comment was an observation that did not include you.
There is an interesting culture here—not desirable but interesting.
Anyway, I thought your 11:01 comment was an excellent and logical contribution and would have appreciated some response. Ditto per the in vitro fertilization comment.
txsharon, you love and use quite frequently the term "neocon". Would you care to explain to the rest of us, in your own words, what that means? From the info. I gather about it, it really isn't the proper term to label a group of people with certain political beliefs, seeing as how many "neocons" are in extreme disagreement on many issues.
LoveLit "Every Life is Precious" must cover more than abortion while a war is raging in the middle east.
Israel is dropping bombs on innocent children and civilians in Lebanon.
Anyone who truly believes that "EVERY Life is Precious" has to be ashamed that our tax dollars went to buy the bombs and we have given Israel the "green light" to destroy homes, bridges, shut down hospitals.
Last night on CNN, the reporters went to a hospital nursery to show how a bomb blew out the windows where new borns slept in their cribs! The hospital has been closed. Other hospitals have been closed due to the bombing.
No one, no one who truly believes "EVERY life is precious" knows this action is immoral. (don't anyone say Israel does NOT have the ability to place the bombs exactly where they want them to go...)
"Neocon Larry Kudlow says that "Israel is doing the Lord's work" by murdering Lebanese, a claim that should give pause to Israel's Chritian evnagelical supporters. Where does the Lord Jesus say, "go forth and murder your neigbors so that you may steal their lands"? by Paul Craig Roberts.
Rumsfeld's neocon Pentagon have drafted the new US war plan!
Neocon promotes strong governmental enforcement of their morality. They are pro-business at the expense of citizens and support a forceful foreign policy that includes preemptive attacks.
I still can not forget the First American Casualty I saw come off one of our American Airlines planes here in DFW.
His "Flag Draped" coffin and the tremendous grief as his young parents stood beside me at the foot of the airplane and watched their only son come home.
To me his life was precious & "Every Life is Precious". I do not like wars nor do I condone wars but it seems that the Republican party wants to yell every time you speak out about war..."HE IS FOR THE OTHER SIDE".
Have we not learned anything from Viet Nam ? I see more McCarthy-ism ideology in America than ever. Just because I do not agree does not mean I am pro Iraqi or Jew or Lebanese .... and yes ... I am Pro Life .. but also Pro Choice.
Cheers to Txsharon and Comment4u and Mzchief and others for being on this blog and speaking with respect for others ideas and feelings. It is people like them that make America the greatest land in the world ... a place where we can agree to disagree :)
I am pro life...but also pro choice. I actually voted for the war before I voted against it. Sound familiar? Yes, we learned from Vietnam. Only fight a war that needs to be fought to protect us. I feel sorry for all Hellabazoo and terrorist sympathisers.
"dead or alive."…"I truly am not that concerned about him.”
"I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action."
"I will swear to uphold the laws of the land. But I will also swear to uphold the honor and the integrity of the office to which I have been elected, so help me God,"
I feel sorry for anyone who still thinks that Iraq was a necessary war and that we are safer because of it.
I got a real chuckle when you bring up the quote about the Valerie Plame leak. Seeing that she wasn't an undercover operative and Patrick Fitzgerald spending untold millions investigating without one indictment related to the case.
I agree. It's all about the OIL. Some people may find that hard to believe, but THAT is the problem. No one wants to believe something so immoral as invading a country with a hidden agenda (controlling oil) could happen, especially when we have a GOD loving president in office. Face it folks, we've been had. There is such an outrageous amount of consumerism in this country and we need OIL at all costs. We gotta have it or we are ruined! The reason the government does not want to make big changes in how we get our energy is becasue too many people are getting rich of the shit!
Let's eliminate by-partisan politics! Let's invest in ethanol gas as Brazil did. Or how about biodiesel, which is made from the leftover oil from frying food, obtained from such places as McDonalds. The trash trucks in Denton use this fuel and even make it at their site.
Oh, but wait....WHO will get super rich from this? Nevermind, the corporate elite are still controlling our country.
Anonymous at 5:25, you need to source that statement.
Because according to the CIA, Valerie Plame Wilson was indeed undercover.
The lies by people like Victoria Toensing, Representative Peter King, and P. J. O'Rourke insist that Valerie was nothing, just a desk jockey. Yet, until Robert Novak betrayed her she was still undercover and the company that was her front was still a secret to the world. When Novak outed Valerie he also compromised her company and every individual overseas who had been in contact with that company and with her.
Remember that the investigation by Fitzgerald was begun at the behest of the CIAitself. These aren't some lefty peaceniks agitating against the gov't.
WOW! You people need to keep two things in mind when discussing politics: 1. The majority if not ALL politicians are at best lying, self-serving, sacks of flesh wrapped filth. I choose to believe they are not that way because of inherent character flaws but that they are that way because it is a job requirement in order to succeed within the political arena. 2. NO ONE knows the real facts. The public ONLY knows what they are told by the left and right wing biased media.
Clearly NONE of you will change the other's mind. Give it up and be satisfied with the fact that each of you are secure in YOUR own interpretation of what YOU believe is correct and that every other person is nothing more than a deluded idiot and LET IT GO!

Hell, Let's just ban war and abortion and nobody gets hurt.
ban coat hangers, too. i had to dodge one just to be born
ban straight pubic hairs too. those things can poke an eye out.
You have to admit that George Bush is about articulate as a fruit fly.
It really is not his fault. We had "The Good Years" of Bill Clinton (Rhodes Scholar)followed up by "The Bumbling Bush".
Those two are polar in comparison not only in education but as leaders. I hope America will ask themselves at the "Polls" this year ..
Do I feel safer under the Republicans in America and the World? Do I feel better off under the Republicans?
I would advise some Republicans to start getting the moving companies ready :)

A real chuckle anon 3:36 since she certainly was undercover and investigating WMDs in Iran, no less.
Try, try, try to listen to something besides Rush and O'Liely. You might even pick up a paper occasionally.
But, I thought the game was flip flops. Oh well...
Her manager even said that she had not been undercover for over 5 years. Do your research.
Remember that the investigation by Fitzgerald was begun at the behest of the CIA itself. These aren't some lefty peaceniks agitating against the gov't.
Plame resources other than Rush
Much of the controversy about Valerie Plame relies on her undercover status and that of her front company, Brewster Jennings & Associates. The cover of Brewster Jennings was that of a private company performing consulting in the nuclear technology field; it published public information supporting that cover.
and
For 18 years as an undercover agent for the CIA, Valerie Plame Wilson kept her occupation and her identity a secret, even to her own friends and family, to avoid compromising her work as a spy.
and
Compounding the damage, the front company, Brewster-Jennings & Associates, the name of which has been reported previously, apparently also was used by other CIA officers whose work now could be at risk, according to Vince Cannistraro, former CIA chief of counterterrorism operations and analysis. Now, Plame's career as a covert operations officer in the CIA's Directorate of Operations is over. Those she dealt with -- on business or not -- may be in danger. The directorate is conducting an extensive damage assessment. And Plame's exposure may make it harder for American spies to persuade foreigners to share important secrets with them, U.S. intelligence officials said.

WOW!
You people need to keep two things in mind when discussing politics:
Trust me, I have!
