Great Question

The Texas Public Utility Commission had a hearing today (or maybe yesterday) about whether the non-payment of an electric bill should lead to the disconnection of electricity at a home during the hot summer months. It's expected to be rejected. Heaven forbid a poor person's electricity to be cut off in this blazing heat causing the rest of us to bear the cost. We've got satellite TV bills to pay!

Yeah, many people have died after the electricity company cut off their service. That is pretty pathetic that a person can die like that in America!

Many of these people are elderly and disabled.

I agree with anon one - elderly folks can sometimes just forget to pay a bill due to a disability.

Most utility companies would give a person a grace period before cutting them off.

If you really are worried about the elderly and the poor, there is a way to help them.WARM is there and helps those in need, they will be happy to have your donation.

....and many churches kick in some funds toward utility bills.

I about died when I opened ours the other day!!!!! TXU's increased by 24 percent this year!

I think it's time for a change. Any suggestions from other electric users on who the best company to go with is?

So, go pay someone's bill then. The companies providing the electricity have a lot of crazy costs, too.

I AGREE THAT THERE ARE ELDERLY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT FORGET OR JUST CANNOT AFFORD THE ELECTRIC HERE AND THAT IS AWFUL.

IT IS THOSE LAZY PEOPLE THAT JUST DON'T WANT TO GET OUT AND GET A JOB BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO CAUGHT UP IN GETTING THAT NEXT HIT OF DOPE THAT MAKES IT HARD, BECUASE THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE WHERE THEY CAN. IT IS THOSE PEOPLE THAT MAKE IT HARD FOR ELDERLY.
