Guess I should take the family safe down to Exxon and fill 'er up....
When they fight with us it goes up. When they fight someone else in the middle east it goes down.My son is off evacuating Lebanon. I think he got to go to Greece as his base of operations. I would love to go to Greece but not that way.
Condo,I guess by your reasoning, we should just pull out of the middle east and let them have at it. Who is the "they" that you are referring to?
They did blame the oil going up over $78/barrel last week on the escalating war in the middle east. Now, they are saying the same war is causing it to go down? Just goes to show you they make up the reasons for any fluctuation.
Who in the hell is "they"?
'They' are the oil companies. They are the ones that come up with these pseudo excuses when they make thier public announcements about the price changes. You can hear them everyday when they give the market reports on the radio. Awesome excuses everyday.
Nice try but you just exposed your stupidity. It is the market driven prices that fluctuate. Simple business lesson. Demand goes up, prices go up. Big oil has nothing to do with the price. The market drives the price. Stay tuned to CNN for more big oil hating updates.
The "they" I was referring to was Middle Eastern Countries that produce oil. No I don't think we should pull out of the Middle East. We aren't there over the price of gas.
See the boys on the trading floor in the picture? What do you think they are doing? Watching American Idol? They are bidding on gasoline futures.
Everytime the media announces oil price changes on the news and with their market reports, TV & radio, they give some excuse as to what caused the change. Who makes up those excuses if not the oil companies? Same thing with natural gas, propane or electricity. Anytime there is change in pricing there is an excuse given. Who makes those excuses? Do you think the news media is writing and making up their own excuses? Those excuses come from the energy people themselves to appease the public.
Eminem, I think I figured out your problem. You are getting your spin from the media. Take a business class and it will all become clear to you why prices go up. Has the price of anything ever stayed the same? I am going to repeat this one more time, the market drives the price of oil.
This post is not who does or doesn't control the pricing, it's who issues the excuses for the prices going up or down. I maintain the media issues quotes from the energy companies themselves. One week it's tension in the middle east, then problems with Chavez in Venazuala, then Katrina, then on and on the excuses come. A couple of years ago when the blackout occurred in the northeast, they used that as an excuse to raises prices. A side note to address what you are talking about. The oil companies may not control oil prices, but they do control the price of gas and diesel at the pump.
