Do you suppose that the "day without immigrants" included sending back welfare checks, reducing school overcrowding, avoiding all taxpayer assistance such as medical, therefore showing the U.S. what illegal immigrants COST this country that would be saved without them? Nah.
10:54 The conditions in Mexico is a non-issue. The issue is whether they come from Mexico to the US legally or illegally. If they are so concerned about the conditions in Mexico, then why don't they protest the corrupt Mexican government that created those conditions?
The living conditions in Mexico most certainly is an issue! That is why they come...for a better quality of life. If you were living there you would come any way you could! Look how many of them have died a terrible death just trying to make it to el Norte. Like I said, human compassion, which is something that most folks in Wise County don't have.
No compassion, huh? Why is it that only the ones who want the illegal immigrants here have compassion? What about having compassion for all the people who are residents here who can't afford things the illegals get freely by government handouts? You know, like the elderly, handicapped, families with a lot of kids, etc. I'm all for helping people in need, but the day that evryone decided they DESERVED what they get more than we Americans deserve things soured me on the whole immigration thing.
America is a compassionate people! Why do you think that ANYTIME a disaster strikes anywhere in the world, the Americans are always the first to be asked, and are the first ones to GO and HELP! Anybody that thinks we don;t have compassion ought to just leave and go somewhere else. And KEEP THE ILLEGALS OUT!!!
Like someone else said in an earlier blog...same redneck comment every time...just leave if you don't like it...
By the way, the elderly are not getting that much help, because white people don't see it as a priority. We don't much care about our elderly like other ethnicities do. Most elderly in the nursing homes are white females. The illegal immigrants have nothing to do with our country not caring about our elderly. As a matter of fact, they are probably the ones taking care of them over here.
Our capitalist society cares mostly about money...
Like I said..too much group think around here. Wise County people should broaden their horizons and stop getting all their "scholary" information from the television news.
12:15 The conditions are still a non-issue. If the people of Mexico don't like the conditions they live in, then they need to either stay there and try to make a difference and try to get change in the homeland or immigrate legally. Just don't immigrate illegally. That's the issue. Legal or illegal. Can't get any plainer.
Mexico is so double faced on their border policy. With the US, they want open border policy, but with their southern border, they have their military enforcing no immigration. And they treat the illigal immigrants who make it through horribly.
yeah, im sure dos chilis crushed the wise county economy by closing yesterday. in fact, all they did was hurt themselves because we are now eating at case torres. thanks dos chilis for making our decision easy.
and you poster who favor this crap, there is no need to have people here illegally. we cant even take care of our own poor people, we dont need another million -- some of who will effect others with the criminal activity they bring.
Living conditions in Mexico are NOT horrendous. I deal with people living and working in Mexico on a daily basis and most live middle class. We tend to get the poorest of the poor here. The people that work for my company in Mexico that are college educated make almost as much as we do and have health insurance and etc.
I agree if you don't like it where you are at then fix it. If you want to come here okay but don't expect our schools to teach in your language and expect free health care and etc because you don't have the skills to get a job that provides them.
Frankly, the people coming up from Mexico right now are like the Cubans that came when Castro emptied his jails and sent them here. Any Mexican's with skills are staying there and getting good jobs with all the American companies moving work there.
Condo, I normally agree with everything that you post. But I truly have a problem with this issue. Yes, the folks that you deal with daily may very well have a good life in Mexico. However, I must say, that many of the folks that I have come into contact with here - even some illegaly, do not have a good life there. I know one person, in particular, that at the age of 14 did indeed "swim across the river" and has, in the last 15 years, worked very hard to make his place here in America. He has never, ever excepted any kind of "government handouts" but instead, worked diligently to provide for his family. There are indeed exceptions to every situation. In the last 15 years, he has never once called in sick to work. How many of your co-workers can boast that. He has done this only out of his great sense of pride to work and do a good job. All of this for 10.00 an hour. And he is very proud of it. If we choose to gripe about the system and people taking advantage of it - let's then look at folks who are still here in the Dallas and Houston area that were displaced by the hurricane and floodwaters. They, for whatever reason, cannot find work. I do believe that there are jobs - maybe at fast food restaurants - that they choose not to except.....they would rather to continue to live off of the government. By golly - they are born and bred right here in the ol us. Go figure - I am not supporting nor condemning either - I am simply saying, once again, that there are very few Hispanics, that I know of personnally, that are taking advantage of our government.
So why didn't he do this legally? He's been here 15 years; he's certainly had time to follow our law! I know some hard working bank robbers too! Hey... maybe al Quida could peacefully protest here too and we could grant them all amnesty! Taliban too! Where does it end? We have LAWS... we legal citizens have to obey them or face consequences, right? What makes these illegals think they can scream and yell and make our government change LAW!
"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." I can make a burrito. Go home.
I make a pretty good burrito, too. I make good fajitas, enchilada's etc. Let's see them make much money fixing them in Mexico.

Has anyone on this blog ever heard of human compassion? Does anyone understand the horrendous living conditions in Mexico?
So sleepy.....

Is this one of the "Dos Chiles" employees that protested Monday making them close for the day?
Can't we just fill up the Rio Grande with crocodiles or sumthin?
