ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Jurors in the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui completed their sixth day of deliberations Tuesday without deciding whether the Sept. 11 conspirator should be executed or sentenced to life in prison.
Even if you are pro-death penalty, I think this is a hard choice. The guy is a nut and, due to his many outbursts in the courtroom and outrageous testimony, he clearly wants to get the death penalty in order to be a martyr.
I'd sentence him to life because it's exactly what he doesn't want. (Not to mention the fact that his execution would certainly fire up the radical Islamic faction).

A Collision Of Thoughts

This man is programmed for life. Likely there is nothing that could be punishment that would even phase him. Death is life. A mindset that will never change for him or folks like him.
Bewildering situation for the law.
Hmmm... good point. I guess if your goal is "maximum punishment"; then sticking the guy in a cell for the rest of his life might be a good idea. For once, I would be happy to spend a few of my tax dollars knowing this SOB was miserably locked up and not allowed to meet "Allah" and inheret his women heaven sluts for a long time.
Someone in law, really creative and not into it for the usual "money" or "fame" could come up with a suitable punishment for this man. Surely there are those who lie awake at night thinking about these kinds of things.
If dying doesn't do it, then make what is left of his life so miserable, he would wish he had been given the death sentence.
Perhaps our own blogger Barry can come up with something?
