Any book that is (1) a krillion pages long (2) ends up with an architect on trial for blowing up a huge housing construction project, (3) with that architect representing himself, (4) and deciding to give a closing argument where he justifies his conduct based upon "individualism" because the project was not built as he had designed it . . . is silly.

Mark Cuban employs minorities that have no actual skill at anything except running, jumping and throwing. I'd say he was helping the underprivilidged. Make fun if you wish but he I don't think he cares what YOU think...
Let's not kid ourselves, you don't like the book because it's by Ayn Rand.
I can't speak for Barry, but I read that book and didn't like it not because it was written by Ayn Rand but because it just plain sucked. And I'll bet most of those who clutch it close to their breasts and wail about how great it is have never read it. Same with Atlas Shrugged. Sucked.
Not picking on Rand. Same is true with William Faulkner...we in the South are supposed to love his writing, but it sucks too.
I find it amusing that so many on the Right hold The Fountainhead in one hand and the Bible in the other. You can follow Rand or you can follow Christ, but you can't follow both. Those who think you can have not read one or the other (or likely not read both).

4:38 - Disagree. Many people hold that Ayn Rand was nothing but selfish, but her work does not reflect that. She simply put value on the creativity of man. You can say that this comes from god if that is what you believe, or say that it is part of man himself. She was certainly against compelled compassion, but did not prevent others from showing their compassion if they choose to. She was very much against big government, and if you read her work and look around, you will find that many of the things that she warned about are true in the US today.
FYI, I am a Christian and have read both. I don't worship Ayn Rand but do value what she had to say.
Well, I can't speak for Barry or 4:27, but studies have shown that when reading Rand it helps to have an I.Q. over 100.

Ayn Rand was a self-described atheist. I am a Christian. I have read Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, and I read from the Bible regularly. I think she could have expressed her ideas regarding Objectivism with fewer words than she chose to use, but still enjoyed both books. She showed amazing vision regarding where the USA is today and where we are going. Her depiction of arrogant, inept Bureaucrats taking over is spot on. Perhaps being Russian gave her a perspective that many of us don't have. I agree with her on some issues, disagree on others. Mark Cuban, or anyone else, earning wealth legally, and then his buying goods and services, is the only sustainable way to go. He accumulated his wealth by selling something to willing buyers that they wanted. Taking $$ away from him, with the threat of loss of his freedom, and simply distributing those $$ to people from which nothing is expected is not a new idea. It has been tried over and over throughout human history, and it never has been sustainable. Revolution will come again to America, and it will be for the same reason revolution has come all over the world over time, that is, that those who produce will finally say "I will toil no more for those who will not". Notice that I did not say those who cannot. We can have a safety net without making those who choose to produce forced slaves of those who choose to not produce.
