It was never a racial issue. The rule amongst cops everywhere was whomever runs get an ass kicking when they are caught. People never understood that..
Those cops would only have to hit me once with a stick before I stayed down, Rodney King was a stupid man, was stupid then was stupid till now and probably died in a stupid man way.
King was drunk when he decided to resist arrest. Been in and out of jail since he began drinking in junior high. He had a California medical marijuana card and was s drug addict. He was awarded $3.8 million for his resist and was "dead" broke in April. He found a niche in homosexual prostitution rings for most of his life and was found dead in the bottom of a swimming pool.
The black community felt the need to defend this behavior by causing over a billion dollars worth of damage. There were 58 people killed by rioters....while King was not only alive but became a millionaire by California tax payers.
You know, there was a reason those African tribes parted with their criminals.
Rodney King was drunk and resisted at the time of his beating, so his judgment was suspect at best. Despite that fact, no one deserves the beating he received in the video, under those circumstances. Police officers have to be brutal at times to enforce the law -- it's a rough job -- but this was police brutality of the most liberal bleeding heart definition. The overreaction, rioting, and attacks targeting white people afterward were stupid, of course, and just as brutal if not more so. The difference is that the LAPD was supposed to uphold the law. The phrase "Who watches the watchmen?" is a warning against just the sort of mindset that compelled those cops to beat Rodney King. Law and order applies to both sides of the badge.
(FWIW, I worked with a former LAPD detective at the time of the King incident, and he said those guys were the stupidest bunch of cops he had ever seen. "You just don't do that," he said.)
"The overreaction, rioting, and attacks targeting white people afterward were stupid, of course, and just as brutal if not more so."
What kind of idiotic statement is this? Dozens of dead people, buildings and shops burned, and weeks before organization was restored MAY have been more brutal than four idiots giving a drunk homo prostitute, who's resisting arrest, a black eye?
557 - I don't have a medical license, so I'm not sure how cops using a baton on Rodney King's back and legs gave him a black eye. I'm also not sure how much resistance King is putting up in the part of the video shown. Maybe you can shed some light on that.
Level of brutality is a hard thing to measure definitively. Of the 53 killed, eight were shot by law enforcement and two others by National Guardsmen. Six died in car accidents. Property damage and lack of organization you cite were unfortunate and as I said, stupid, but I'm not sure how "brutal" they were.
As for the rest of your comments, I'm pretty sure neither one of us knows what you're talking about.
King was awarded millions of dollars for his ordeal. Reginald denny , who was just trying to do his job was beaten by six gangsters, and received nothing.
Rodney King was, unfortunately, the poster child for blacks in California. So sad.
I'll withold my comments regarding the swimming challenged nature of of our melanistically superior fellow Americans as they may be construed as racist and get axed during comment moderation.
Every once in a while I agree totally wth Wordkyle, this is one of those times. WK and I do not agree politically but we agree when it comes to right and wrong. That beating was brutal. To all of the posters that said he should have kept still, tell you what I'll do. Let me start beating you with a club and see if you are still not resisting after the fifth or sixth blow. uncle wally
The reason you agree with WK this time is because he made a liberal, idiotic statement. He obviously had a lapse in judgement. You disagree with him when he makes sense. Therefore, you're an idiot all the time.
Ah, you kids, I worry about you. I criticized the over-reaction and recognized the brutality it engendered. I'm not sure what caused the over-reaction on your part, especially in resorting to personal attacks so quickly. That's normally a Liberal tactic. Learn to disagree better.
Now you're resorting to incorrectly reinterpreting my words to try to score points. That's yet another Liberal tactic. (If I were gracious, I would say that you inferred something I didn't imply. If I were even more gracious, I'd realize that you wouldn't understand that statement and so I wouldn't say it, which I didn't.) I gave you the chance to abandon your attack with some class, but it appears my effort was wasted.
My original point stands. If you haven't understood it by now, you're not likely to, ever.
WK, Ok, ok.....maybe I misinterpreted your statement. I guess you weren't defending the rioters like I thought. I'm sorry. Please disregard my post at 12:39.
But, its always suspect when the libs are agreeing with you. Give me that much?
1250 - Good enough. Your suspicions are understandable, but don't ever, ever worry that I've gone to the Dark Side. If it's any consolation, think how hard it was for them to admit that they agreed with me about anything.

Well, he was a homosexual prostitute. That's not something I want to get doing with.
Is my opinion ok to have or do I need your permission?
Was it the mean whites who rioted or the poor downtrodden blacks who don't know any better?
Those cops would only have to hit me once with a stick before I stayed down, Rodney King was a stupid man, was stupid then was stupid till now and probably died in a stupid man way.

I remember being very young child watching this video and being so sad for that young man.
Then, as I grew up and matured, I understood the situation.
Is there a more worthless breed of humans?
Our golden boy is dead??
Let's riot and kill whitey! It's his fault!!
DF Alvin Sharpton
Why can no story say what happened to him?
BG, I hope that you never mention my name.....
Wonder if big tex was one of those white thugs that tied up that guy in Briar.
One less tax dollar

Another great American hero gone too soon. We hardly got to know you Rodney.

Any chance you could start watching a bunch of Obama commercials?
And I mean a bunch.

Has Rage castrated you? Have you had a lobotomy?
thanks wordkyle one of the 25% of the time I am in total agreement with you.
*yawns.... thinks maybe RK should have spent some money on swim lesson*
For 47, he had a lot of miles on him...
Proof that Rage and Wordkyle are the same person. He just forgot what name he was posting under.
If he had hit a kid while driving drunk in that neighborhood, he would not have been alive when the police arrived. Remember where it all began.

How's reginald denney doing?
Matter of fact...why don't you post the video of the reginald denny beating and give some background on the six young afros that beat him?
I'm surprised nobody mentioned that colored people can not swim... the stereotype has been proven.
I don't care what your color, those cops did over kill and in the long run white folks had to pay! Rip Rodney!
I wish you would mention something about the Obammy documentaries.
wonder if he took swimming lessons from Whitney Houston??
i luv u rotnee..go oj i luv u2..
No we all can't just get along. Too many people got their hands out for free stuff they don't deserve.
Most people know that when the nappy heads get wet they sink to the bottom of the pool.

Yabba dabba doo, the king is dead.
Next step?
Immortalize him right next to the sick twisted pedophile Michael Jackson.
You people sure pick some crazy folks to idolize.

Lol...don't crawfish.
It's ok to admit a mistake, WK.
You said the riot MAY have been as brutal as the police beating. That's laughable!
Just admit you spoke before thinking. It's OK.
