Those dang Cop's are always messing with me when I speed thru there. Somethings got to be done about them!!! Dang Mayberry wannabees. Maybe they can hire Tom Bishop, he will be available after the election.

Anonymous said...

30% of its budget may have went for police but I would venture to say 60% of its revenue came from traffic tickets. Just another speed trap town, hope they are making a permanent change!

Runaway Bay needs to contract with Bridgeport Police or Wise County S.O. and disband........cheaper and us residents of Runaway Bay will get professional service...

Anonymous said...

You two first commenters are among the same old curmudgeons who don't like the Runaway Bay police because you might have gotten a ticket once.

Grow up!!

Anonymous said...

Does that mean that Obammy's unemployment rate just went to 9.1%?

Anonymous said...

first two commenters are like 99% of people who are ashamed of RB and what it has become.
hopefully, big changes comn.
rinky dink cops SUCK!!!!

Tom Bishop could whip em into shape and then go for a cool swim in the ole lake.

I'm a resident and I'm very Happy with our Officers. I hope common sense prevails

So Runnaway Bay lost some politicians. Well Wise County Animal killed 7 dogs today. They need rescues/adoptions...at least more time to get out. To hell with politicians, I say!

After attending the council meeting I saw the evil three headed monster on council first hand! Its sad when councilMEN have to cue each other on how to vote! Maybe I mispoke on them being MEN because they are not that at all!

Anonymous said...

It was really weird when evey person on nthe public forum portion of the meeting supported the police department and then a hiring freeze was voted on, envoked, revoked then tabled??? I left confused. I sure don't blame them for leaving after that mess.

Anonymous said...

I wish Bridgeport had their mayor.

Anonymous said...

Didn't the police department get $400,000 worth of grants for the entire city, including the city's first ever brand new fire truck?

The mayor and city council are idiots for getting rid of the chief who turned the police and fire departments into real departments. As usual, 99% of the people posting here don't know the whole story. Maybe they should do some open records requests instead of listening to gossip.

Anonymous said...

Common sense.....Runaway Bay.....City Government of Runaway Bay........

Laws are best applied to the other guy..

Anonymous said...

Why do you have such a man crush on Spud Kennedy

Anonymous said...

anyone that was for the chief has never had to call him for help.
WORTHLESS if you needed something. They need to get rid of Richie while they are at it.

Daily blog observations...
1) you down-played a populated high school bball star after a dwi arrest.
2) you can't understand a man like Ken Star.
3) a guy walked into sisters furniture store and tried to kidnap the cook of the in-house restaurant while spraying gasoline all over the place...and you use the word "alleged".
3) you said "I gave the zombie people a ton of free press".....really? A ton of free press? What do you think you are? Do you want to reveal how few people actually visit this place?

Anonymous said...

Could not stand Liberal Kennedy in Arlington and God knows we dont need him Wise County

Pretty sad day for Runaway Bay. The only people who don't like law enforcement are criminals. The thugs got a big win today. Go job Berry, St John and whoever that old dud was on the end who looked to Berry before he voted. What a disgrace.

Anonymous said...

RAB is on track to becoming the new Rhome, minus the double wides.

Anonymous said...

Hooray, Hooray for Runaway Bay!!! And the crime spree begins. You better hide your walkers and hoverounds before they get stolen!!!

Anonymous said...

Way to go Berry and St. John!!! Best City Council members ever!!!

Runaway Bay FD is not a real department, it's a real joke. Worst prepared and trained department in the county. No, I'm not a disgruntled citizen, I am a firefighter in the county that is embarrassed to be associated with those wanna be cops dressed up like firemen. The citizens of Runaway Bay should be afraid.

Anonymous said...

I would like to thank Chief Paschall for all of the positive and professional changes he brought to Runaway Bay. Before his arrival cases were often unsolved and put on the back burner. He made that change for us as residents. I hope he is moving on to better things and realize that dirty politics is why he is leaving.

One of the other Bay police officer's resignation was announced at the council meeting!!!!!!!!!! Are there any police left there???? Get ready to swing your golf clubs in defense geezers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a very sad day in Runaway Bay. When a Council can eliminate a Chief and City Administrator as this one has, they deserve whatever crime they receive. Citizens who complain about officers doing their job by too many PI/DWI arrests have never spent enough time in jail nor worked any fatality accidents involving alcohol. To those of you that wanted to get rid of our police department; How long do you think the response time would be for the S.O. to arrive when you need an officer five minutes ago? That line of thinking is just ridiculous! I don't work for Runaway Bay, but retired from one of those "professional" agencies mentioned. Here is my question: Why is the council spending "Undisclosed amounts" of money they don't have to rid themselves of these employees contracts, when they can't even fix their own water problem issues? Maybe because the council can't control who the Police write tickets to or who they arrest? Citizens of Runaway Bay: Think long and hard next year before you re-elect Barry White, Jerry St. John and Dan Ticer! These men on the city council have their own agendas in mind and not the greater good of Runaway Bay and it's citizens. Maybe Barry needs to put on his big girl panties because no one wants to go into One Stop, or the Current Chief could not be bought! We all need to attend the council meetings and support our Police and Fire Department before we have none! Some call what we have "unprofessional" but have you looked closely at the council you elected? It's time for a change and I don't mean in the police department! I hope someone calls Tom Bishop to come patrol RAB and get some DPS Troopers to work traffic! RAB won't get the revenue, but the Council might suddenly get a taste of their own vile medicine, and the complaining citizens will discover a whole new definition of "professional".

Daily blog blogger observations.....
1) Give-a-shitters raise their hands
2) You love Ken Starr. You can't even spell the name of a man like Ken Starr
3) Alleged is what is says, until proved otherwise in court. The rights are guaranteed from the Constitution, unless you hate the Constitution.
3) (really 4) You read this blog it seems. Probably about 1,835,002 per day total.

Sometime after the last post and 10pm, I anonymously commented on this topic. Please disregard it's content. It was written in anger not in a rational manner. That was the wrong way in which to protest and could ultimately hurt people. I request that my previous comments this evening be destroyed and not posted on this site, if they were being considered. Thank you.

The Club is getting a fresh new face. Welcome Duffy. Duffy previously directed the Civic Center of Decatur.
HaHaHa, 7:48 if you knew these people you wouldn't have to call one an old dude. You obviously didn't have to deal with the chief. You probably just sit in your home and never get out, and if you really think about it are armed and ready so who needs them. RAB will never be the Rhome Gateway except for their police force. Glad to see RAB is on track finally. Alot of good people have left the city due to the politics and stalking of peace officers.
I've had to deal with Bishop also, but he was alot more curtious
than the RAB wannabees.

Anonymous said...

the chief deserves better at the mayor is a coward

I have driven through Runaway Bay hundreds of times...never been pulled over by a police officer. Why is that? I hear they just "pull you over and give you a ticket" there. I've never been trapped. Is it because I can read? And that I've "learnt my numbers" in school?

Anonymous said...

Double wides are in route. Just wait until they they get rid of the PD, the FD will be next. I ordered my doublewide today.

5:47, "Wise County Animal" did not KILL dogs. The sorry ass, lazy, so-called owners of those pets killed them. Any animal shelter's best day is when no pets get dumped there, and when they don't have to put any animals down.

I wished Bridgeport had their Berry.

I used to live in Runaway Bay and relocated for a job. I am glad to be gone now that it has gone to Haiti in a handbasket! I went to a few council meetings and on the whole they seemed like a bunch of uneducated fools that spent too much time getting baked on the golf course.

BigTex said...

This is great news for Runaway Bay. Runaway Bay would be much better served by the wise county sheriffs office. The majority of these small town cops are too fat or too ignorant to make it on the big forces, so small towns get stuck with these flunkeys. I say do away with the whole force.

Anonymous said...

Wait until the citizen,s of Runaway Bay find out how much $$$ the bill for the contract buyouts is going to cost them.

Anonymous said...

Big Tex u r a dumb arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Not only did RAB lose two police officers, they lost two fire fighters and EMTs. People need to be just as concerned about accidents and fires as well as crimes. Wish them the best, but looks like something is wrong over there. BigTex, you obviously haven't seen several of these police officers at vehicle accidents or fighting fires.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations to Rex Richie for leading the RAB officers. The police force will be strong, and will continue to serve RAB.

Anonymous said...

Haiti in a handbasket? I assume you meant Hades. Just go ahead and say hell. That way, you don't show you massive ignorance.

Anonymous said...

I guess all you unarmed/helpless RAB residents better get by the gunshop down the street and pick you up a shootin iron and some bullits before Obamy says you can't have one.

Anonymous said...

The only thing they fight at a fire is their own stupidity.

Jack Daniels said...

Oh sure, I want to go buy a gun from the person (I believe) to be the biggest RAB police force problem out there.

Anonymous said...

10:25 you are right on.

Big Tex you are an idiot. Most small town officers don't want to work for a big city and do the same thing day after day. Traffic officers write tickets, DWI enforcement officers just arrest drunks, and patrol officers just answer calls. Small town officers get to do it all and have a chance to be tri-certified (Peace Officer, EMT/Paramedic, and Firefighter). You can't blame any small time public servant for that. Jerk...

No, I am not a small town officer. I work in the big city and deal with jerks like you everyday.

Anonymous said...

Buy your gun at 2K in Decatur, they are nice and not jerks like Bport.

Anonymous said...

Big Tex your wife is hot....She looks different with a clean face :)

Anonymous said...

Ever been to Haiti? Pretty accurate on that one 11:47. I thihk its pretty sad for the residents. Just wonder what the council was thinking and more what the folks who voted them on the council were thinking. If they lost 2 officers this week how many are left?

Anonymous said...

At Tuesdays nights meeting, the RAB CC thank Jones for his service and the 400,000 dollars in grants he got the the FD. The then wanted to freeze hiring because the city does not have the money to replace the budgeted position. They know in Tue night they were going to run Drew and Greg off on Wed morning. Now the city will be paying out Drew and Greg's contracts. How in the Hell are they going to do that!!! Remember they did not have the money on Tue night.

Anonymous said...

Test to RAB, are there any smart people living there? Go to meeting and find out what the Hell the are doing.

Anonymous said...

Runaway Bay is a lot like Rhome.

Anonymous said...

Called RAB PD today a few minutes after 5:00 and no one was on duty. Imagine that...it's been the same story several times over the last few years, so it has nothing to do with yesterday's events.

Anonymous said...

07:15 since Wise County S O answers their phones, and they are there 24 hours, either your lying or don't know how to dial the right number. City Hall is not the number you call for the police. Educate yourself.

Anonymous said...

I agree. I think she use to date a RAB officer. That's why Tex hates them.

Anonymous said...

Runaway Bay PD is dispatched by the county.....no one ever answers the phone. It always rolls over to county dispatch. You are an IDIOT!

Anonymous said...

YOU ARE AN IDIOT. THE ONLY CITY PD IN WISE COUNTY THAT IS NOT DISPATCHED VIA THE SO IS BRIDGEPORT. THIS IS WISE COUNTY, NOT A BIG CITY LIKE IN DFW. CAN EVERYONE SAY STUPID!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey genius that calls others an idiot, and stupid and make big statements like those above, you might should educate yourself about the Decatur PD and dispatch. Because I am pretty sure it's in Wise county also.

Anonymous said...

Let me clarify, when I said no one was on duty ~ someone answered the phone. It was not the SO. the person who answered the phone said there was no OFFICER on duty, and that if it were a true emergency, I needed to hang up and call 911 or call the SO directly. They didn't even offer to take down the information and have someone return my call. Fortunately it was not a life or death emergency, or I would have called 911 to begin with instead of calling the actual police department. And no, I'm not stupid. I know the difference between the city hall and the police department. Just like I know if it had been a life or death emergency I wouldn't even bother calling the police department. Some of you people are ridiculously ignorant...

Anonymous said...

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

I always wondered if the RAB cops ever get off 380 and troll the neiborhoods? I see them stopping cars all the time on 380 and just wondered if they are allowed to drive any where else.

Speedy Gonzalez

Anonymous said...

It's just sad that you can't have an old fashion speed trap in this day and time. What's next, doing away with City officials that have personal agendas?

Anonymous said...

So you did call city hall and not the Police number. What did you expect there to be Officers just waiting around when the City council just cut the size of the Police Department from 4 to 2. Your complaint is invalid and stupid.

Jack Daniels said...

1:10 - You need to stay off of here. It would appear that you are way too stupid to compete on this forum.

Anonymous said...

I am glad it was not an emergency and you're able to extract the coke cans from your own b*** . quit asking the city hall ladies out . they don't want anything to do with your freaky ways . how dare you offer to buy them Depends if they will go to dinner with you .

I have heard many complaints about citations being written to residents. However, if you would do an Open Records request at the city I believe you would find of all the traffic citations wrote, 98% were not to residence. But then if you had the facts you “whiners” would have nothing to cry about.
Runaway Bay has one of the safest stretches of roadway along the 380 corridor; 2 non-life threatening accidents last year. You want the county to work your city, but watching their response time to an accident last year was to say the least, disappointing. And when the two county deputies did arrive they stood along the highway conversing with each other. I guess they thought the “un-professionals” had it all under control by the time they made it out there; 15 minutes, is what it took them. The complainers ask, “Why work the highway so much?” In a traffic study done on two comparison cities, the study found a high visible presence by a traffic enforcement unit, lowered the crime rate in the city with the enforcement unit by 4 to 8 %.
An officer working the highway, in RAB, one evening stopped a car traveling through the city and the driver began asking questions about how many officers work here, what times do they work, and shifts? She is associated with a known burglar out of Bridgeport. Now they, the criminals around you, know, it went from 4 to 2, their chances of robbing and stealing from you has just improved. And the City Councilmen are not going to be immune from the crime wave about to sweep through the bay, nor are the whiners.
One of you said it was because our officers cannot get a job in the “big agencies.” But the one who just received $400,000 in grants for this city, and a new fire truck, left to go work for a “bigger agency.” As for the complainer who does not like to be associated with the “wannabes”? Our “wannabe firefighter / officer” who has a Masters Peace Officers License, and a Bachelor’s Degree, just got himself hired on with a larger agency, who has State wide jurisdiction, and is most likely making $30,000 more than you, starting out. Makes me wonder who the “wannabe” really is?
When the fires were sweeping through our surrounding area last summer, our “non-professional” fire department risked their lives to save our properties and friends. You are right they are “volunteers,” which means we need to appreciate them all the more. For those of you who do not understand what that means, they do not get paid for their services they provide to us. As far as a lack of training, that is not their fault, that is on the city for not providing the training they need or would like. Why should these working professionals, pay for the training out of their pockets, for which they are not going to get reimbursed.
One of our fine outstanding citizens stood up and complained in a city council meeting one night, which made no sense at all. He said, “why do we even have a police department, we have zero percent crime out here?” We have zero percent crime, because we have a police department.
As far as being like Rhome, thanks to our PD we are nothing like Rhome:
According to our research there were 19 registered sex offenders living in Rhome, Texas in July 2011
The ratio of number of residents in Rhome to the number of sex offenders is 56 to 1.
http://www.city-data.com/city/Runaway-Bay-Texas.html
According to our research there was one registered sex offender living in Runaway Bay, Texas in July 2011
The ratio of number of residents in Runaway Bay to the number of sex offenders is 1450 to 1.
The number of registered sex offenders compared to the number of residents in this city is smaller than the state average).
Believe it or not we do have children living out in the Bay. And we have thousands of children that visit the boy-scout encampment each year.

Wow. I'm not a wanna be cop and as far as I am concerened, this department has came along way since I joined in 2009. As of now I am the only certified firefighter and to think another "brother" would comment like this makes me very sad. Our residents have nothing to be worried about.

I am a career police officer with a major DFW surburb and have been in the command ranks since 1987. I am retiring soon and was looking for a job as a Chief in a smaller community and found the Runaway Bay posting. WOW it I think I'll pass on this one..Good Luck to the new Chief and the community!
