While You Eat Dinner, Supreme Court Decides If A Man Will Die Tonight

One of these days, America will look back and shake its collective head.

Edit at 10:28: Don't worry, America. He's dead.

Two quotes to make you think tonight:

"No matter how many ways you explain it, I'll never understand how someone can be pro-choice and anti-death penalty."

"No matter how many ways you explain it, I'll never understand how someone can be anti-abortion and pro-death penalty."

Yep they sure will, and wonder why they didn't do it more often.

I shake my head every day at this country and the poor leadership of Obama.

Grandad, is it true our nation used to kill it's own people.

Yes, grandosn it's true. We know it's wrong now and we're ashamed of it, but yes we did. It was mostly people who weren't white and were poor.

Does that mean even if they start killing again, they won't kill me?

I hope not grandson. I hope not.

Stay out of trouble grandson,
it will help your chances.

Grandad, Check your facts.

Supreme Court denied the stay--

Grandad, did the murder victims have a choice whether they lived or died?
No grandson, they didn't, and neither did their families. But the murderers did. They chose to end their own life when they murdered innocent people.

But grandad, what will happen if I drink and drive and kill a family of four while on their way to church?
Haha, well, you don't want to do that! You will get the mandatory 100 hours of community service.... even though it violates the World Human Rights policy.

So Grandpa, we give them food stamps, free health care and WIC goverment housing goverment cheese and for every tricycle motor they shoot out the get a bigger check and we that work and pay our taxes get to fund that why they smoke crack and rob and kill and play xbox, yes son, is that why lawyers wear neckties to hold the foreskin back grandpa, yes son and bondsmen and fools..grandpa can i be a unproductive part of society that contributes nothing and drains everything, well yes JR, just vote for the Chimp we have in office

And while the Supreme Court is deciding tonight, there is also I'm sure some innocent person or family that, at this very moment, are about to be killed in a horrible manner, without a trial, without any chance, and for absolutely no reason. And later, we won't fret about their dead, buried bodies as much as we will about the life of the person who is about to shoot them, stab them, or beat them in the head with a pipe; and leave them to be found tomorrow morning by their loves ones

8:23, teach your grandchild not to commit murder, for a start.

There are a lot of people whose opinions on the death penalty would change if they were tied up and forced to watch while someone THEY loved was shot or cut or beat to pieces after being tortured. Guarantee it.

Wonder, if grandad walked in on a Ted Bundy type that had a knife to his grandson's throat, and if grandad was able to reach for his trusty sidearm, if old grandad would become judge, jury and executioner? Guess not...we're against the death penalty after all. Yeah, right.

I don't care if someone beats and kills my boyfriend. That person is a victim of white society and deserves a second chance.

I shake my head and wonder why they live as long as they do.

Anonymous said...

Rage, I totally agree. He deserves a second chance because he killed the wrong boyfriend.

I agree with Rage.

Justice is determined by the amount of money an accused person can pay an attorney. Minorities and the poor wind up on death row because they do not have the means to pay for adequate representation.

To remedy this, I think that we should fix the legal system like the President has fixed the medical system. We should have a single payor system for legal services with the prices set by a board of bureaucrats and other political appointees appointed by the President. Clients could assigned to attorneys at random. This way we can level the legal playing field for the accusedwhile lowering legal costs for everyone. The cost of a simple DWI driver's license revocation hearing could be, say $10 with a $5 copay. Force everybody to participate so that one's wealth would not have any influence on the case. We could lower costs, increase quality, and level the playing field.

If it is good enough for the medical business, it should really work well in the legal business.

"No matter how many ways you explain it, I'll never understand how someone can be [pro-life] and pro-death penalty."

One could argue that the death penalty is actually a recognition that life is the most valuable thing we have, because people don't get the death penalty unless they have taken a life themselves. When we refuse to implement the death penalty for murder, we cheapen the value of the life of the murder victim. (This of course assumes we can know with absolute certainty that a defendant is guilty in fact of the murder.)

Glad it's over.... now he won't cost us nothing. Don't do the crime if.....

Anonymous said...

off the subject Barry, but why have you not yet commented on the "new facebook"?

Anonymous said...

Sooooooooo many red herrings in this thread.

I'm pro-death penalty, which I feel compelled to say only because of the retards in here that would jump to the opposite conclusion, but any time, and I mean any time, the state withholds exculpatory evidence or their snitches start recanting, the Defendant's sentence should be commuted and they should get a new trial.

It amazes me how many "conservatives" are OK with the government manufacturing evidence against a citizen.

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you saw the Abu Grahib photos.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden for 10 years.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when ... when ... wait for it ... when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans ... well, fuck that. That about right? You know it is.

You people have all lost your minds. You are selfish, greedy, obnoxious, narcissistic and frankly ... stupid. Your pathetic little misspelled protest signs are embarrassing. Maybe you ought to find the smart person in your midst and let them make up all the signs, 'cause man, you look like a bunch of idiots. Also, you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny.

Ya'll act like they executed th pope, or something...It was just a nigger.

Grandpa, so if someone broke in and burglarized the house, tortured and raped grandma, and then murdered grandma, you would urge that the person be spared the death penalty? Even if you watched it happen, but you couldn't prevent it and you knew the person in court was the murderer??

Yes, grandson, we used to execute those types of people, but we realized it just made us animals.

Grandpa??

Yes, grandson?

How can you live with yourself??

So let me get this straight. All the liberal weenies cry because a black man is getting the juice for killing a white cop, but no tears for a white man who killed a black man. Can someone please explain their thought process?

Anonymous said...

OMG - 7:05 - although a relevant post, did you just have to put all that down?

Now we will get Wordy's rebuttal via sources, research, blah blah blah...to each and every item.

Yuk.

Anonymous said...

I'm no fan of the death penalty, not for liberal weinie reasons but because it's way too expensive and we spend way too much money on it that could be used in other ways. Lock the assholes up in a cage forever. However, the media left out a lot of the story on this guy. Bullets from this crime scene matched the gun in HIS possession. That's scientific proof. But hell, they say, there was NO DNA! Why the hell would there be. He didn't rape the guy he shot him.

People still don't have a right to judge who lives and who dies. We put our own egocentric parameters on why people should be killed via the death penalty.

Don't use the argument, "If you have seen it happen then you would change your mind". 99.9% of you have never experienced it so you have no right to judge either.

I am right there with ya for once. I am completely pro-choice and pro-death penalty. How's that coming from a very conservative gal?

How is it we can fly a Predator drone over another country and fire a hell fire missile at a suspected terrorist and kill him along with anyone in the vicinity and that's OK? No trial no nothing?

The Donald said...

8:31 hit the nail on the head.

The core of the now-executed's appeal was that no DNA linked him to the crime.

A little background: He had, just earlier in the evening, murdered another man - another crime for which he was convicted. In a celebratory mood, he went to a fast food place and commenced to prove his studliness by beating a homeless man.

An off-duty LEO at the fast food place intervened, and for his efforts was shot and killed, the shell casings matching those from the murderer's other killing earlier in the evening.

The witnesses who [much] later recanted were the murderer's associate.

No DNA, but no doubt.

I didn't think I would but I miss this POS now that he has been executed. Go figure...

2:35, Is that all you got? For the last time, one is called war, the other is called murder. No go back under your rock. We'll let you know the next time an execution is about to take place. Don't bother responding with your usual liberal weenie waste of cyber litter. We'll just pretend you cut and pasted.

If it's war congress didn't declare it.. That's what I got.

In poor counties the death penalty is not an option because they can't afford it. If you want to kill someone that would get you the juice, do it in Coleman county.
