Jury deliberated Friday, didn't reach a verdict, and is back at it again today. A guilty verdict carries with it an automatic life sentence since the death penalty has been waived. I've got a strange vibe about it. Story.
Edit/Update: Mistrial declared on Tuesday after jurors could not reach a verdict.

That forensics testimony is crap--depending on the actual bullets used. NATO (and similar) rounds are specifically designed not to fragment.

As much as I hate to agree with Rage, he is right. Most people purchase the cheap full metal jacket rounds for AR's. They will go right through you....and whatever is behind you.
Rage: Unless you have insight into the specific round used you can not generalize. While your statement about NATO and similar rounds is true, fragmentary rounds for the AR-15 are easily obtainable in either a .223 or 5.56 round. I have clips full of both types. I use FMJ for target rounds but fragmentary rounds for hunting.

11:32, give me a break. Your average yay-hoo isn't going to buy anything but the cheapest. Or whatever came with the gun when he stole it. 99% of the rounds purchased and used, especially when defending your crack house, are FMJs.
And if the guy was about nine feet away? The bullet wouldn't have time to so much as tumble (which NATO rounds will do at longer ranges). It would make a .223-sized hole through the guy, the wall, the next wall, and out the back of the house, most likely. NATO rounds are actually intended to create survivable wounds.

Not your average murder case. I can see how a jury might have some trouble with it. I predict a lesser conviction assuming the jury has that option.
Rage, a .223 is a great coyote/varmint round. Nothing sissy about using the correct round for the job.

I started nothing, simply made a statement that you disagreed with, listened to your childish taunt, threw your typical BS about how educated you are back at you, and then awaited your next post.
