Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • It is six days to the start of college football season, so I'll start a countdown of the cheerleaders of the greatest sport in the history of ever. Today: TCU.
  • On Fox 4 this morning, while covering the DWI story about changing the law to allow "deferred adjudication", anchor Lauren Przybyl referred to it as "deferred ajudification."
  • The Star Telegram has a story about a proposal to turn the Trinity River into a tubing friendly like the river in New Braunfels. One word: Nasty.
  • I hope I'm qualified to give volleyball tips because I've been doing it a lot of it during my evening hours.
  • There are a bunch of miners trapped in Chile and it may take four months to get them out. Rescue workers snaked a camera down to them yesterday and released grainy video footage. Wow.
  • Ranger fans: What the heck has happened to Cliff Lee?
  • Another Wise County Pee Wee football rant by a transplant.
  • Back to the cheerleader theme: UTA?
  • Funny line about Bristol Palin being on Dancing With The Stars: "What star will she be paired with?"
  • We're coming up on the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. I went and looked back about what I thought about it as it was approaching and it turns out I was spot on. (Complete with satellite image.) That's why I'm the most trusted name in weather.
  • Collateral thought: I've been running this blog for five years?
  • I think the City of Denton has a new book-in camera. Clarity has improved.

TCU cheerleaders = pre-trophy-wives who haven't earned their plastic boobie prizes yet.

Cliff Lee had the same bad three game stretch last year for the Phils. Stuff happens. Arm gets tired for a while.

Then he went on to have a great September and October.

Greatest PeeWee football rant ever!!!! I grew up in the WC and remember my PeeWee days, what a cluster****! You had a handful of parents that wanted to hijack everything, and then the normal parents who were tolerant of the NFL mentality...I remember my dad telling me I could play if I wanted, but he didn't have time to play politics over PeeWee football, and he damn sure wasn't going to wrap me in gym mats in 100 degree temperature for a couple of hours a day so I could lose enough weight to run the ball...yes, that was truly suggested!

The guy in the city of Denton's picture looks kind of green, not very mean. Maybe he should be the next mascot for UNT

In the old days it was paper but these days it's plastic.

PeeWee rant - I'm sure she is talking about Boyd. They are relentless and rude concerning anything associated with athletics.

New Orleans residents had about 3 days of serious warnings to get out of their houses and New Orleans, or at least a safer spot or place. It's unthinkable that so many died because they got trapped in their own flooding homes. And yes, widespread flooding was among those things being warned about. EVERYONE that has lived in N.O. long enough knows full well the "nightmare scenario of storm strength, position of the eye passing, etc. in regards to the Lake. People ignored it, then blamed the President.

Anobiter - that rant was the funniest thing I've read in awhile - thanks!

-If the people in New Orleans could get cars in their mailboxes like most of their income they would have left town.At least they did'nt show the four hundred pound woman in the orange box today;thank God.Peter bellys are the same as pushincushions.
