Sports Quick Hits

  • Texas Tech has announced they will open with Alabama in 2012? Oh, my. Edit: Alabama says it's not a done deal yet.
  • I forgot to mention the Lady Bears beat Duke last night to head to the Final Four. Center Griner is a freak in the middle. (And if you want to see the worst choke job ever -- if you can get past the guy yelling -- check out this Xavier gal missing twice from point blank range in the final minute last night.)
  • Saw on Twitter: Dallas WR Roy Williams played 914 snaps, gained just 596 yards, and cost Dallas $14,945.65 for every offensive snap.
  • How much would you pay to have dinner with Wade Phillips if you had to bid at a fund raiser for a private high school? Answer.
  • I have absolutely no interest in the Dallas Mavericks. The older I get, the less I care about how professionals play a game. (Dirk makes $19,795,714 this year which comes to over $241,000 a game.)

Did anybody notice the beer in the kids hand in the background of the picture of the girl jumping on the boardwalk on Thursday mornings pick me up?

Well I guess the Mayan theory about 2012 being the apocalypse is happening first for Texas Tech.

At what time of the month will they be playing the Crimson Tide?

Those NBA salaries are ridiculous. I don't know how we justify such a thing in our society.

Dang where was the defense? It is like they just watched her dribble to the basket knowing one basket wins it.

Baylor had a killer comeback last night...I HATE womens basketball, but I sat and watched the whole thing. Impressive. Griner is unbelieveable...she was one block away from a triple double in a very important game; remarkable for a freshman. The Baylor coach had the "cojones" to keep three freshman on the floor, down by 7, 3:50 left in the game and it seemed to pay off.

Roy Williams is a waste, I vote Brittany Griner for the Cowboys "#1" receiver slot.

We justify those salaries because we live in a free market economy. Just like the attorneys, doctors, movie stars, hedge fund managers, oil producers, etc. who earn $19,795,714 or more per year.

I bet those in the rank and file of the Dallas Mavericks organization, those who earn a modest paycheck week-to-week, sure as hell appreciate high priced talent such as Dirk Nowitzki.

The NBA has a salary cap and Glenn Beck told me that equals socialism.

So, come on all you fellow Tea Baggers, it's time for us to boycott the NBA.

(I know, we already boycott the NBA because of all the Afro-Mericans, but we haven't let facts stop us so far.)

Boycott! Basketball is Un-Merican! Mark Cuban is a Marxist!

Dirk makes too much but is in line with the best in the NBA. The ones who are obscenely compensated are the money people of Wall Street who produce nada but jockey paper around and are compensated in the range of $20 to $100 million a year. Your garbage man produces more actual work than these guys.
