The money is coming from the Obammy stimulus package. He is the one who is printing money. His answer to the in the toilet economy is to spend our way to prosperity. God bless Mack Brown.
Actually, he might print money. Great article in the Statesman today on the amount of money the football program brings in. I think it was $88M last year. Miles ahead of where it was before he came from NC.
Aggie at 5:44 - UT & Obama - Both on my list of favorites. Thank you very much.
But then, being educated at UT, I would be likely to love them both, and you not being educated - at UT I mean ;) - you would be likely to spend a lot of your time thinking nasty, negative thoughts about them both.
I wouldn't trade places with you for all the money in the world.
7:53 - No, it won't look stupid to me, no matter the outcome of the nat'l championship game.
Personally, I am always proud of the way Mack Brown coaches his team, treats his players, treats anyone he meets, respects the kids, respects and continues the traditions at UT.
I LOVE our coach and I think he deserves that salary. Why would an anti-UT person's opinion about his salary matter to any of us UT fans and alums?
"The data showed that while the country was in the midst of a lingering and deep recession, revenues generated by the Longhorns football program increased by 20 percent in 2008, rising by $14.6 million to a whopping $87.6 million.
That's by far the most money ever generated by a college football program and almost $20 million more than Ohio State — now relegated to second place — pulled in.
"I don't really like comparisons," said Ben Jay, senior associate athletic director at Ohio State. "We're trying to do different things (than Texas)."
Yes, I think a program that is bringing in almost $88/yr. justifies a $5 salary for the guy at the top. Revenue has increased every year since Mack's arrival.
There's revenue and then there's the record - Last 2 years: 25-1 Senior class: 45 wins No one can top that, at least not currently.
Every year obviously won't be as many wins as the last 2, but I am certainly enjoying the moment, and happy that this program has made it possible to reach such a milestone.

This will look especially stupid after the MNC game in Pasadena. But, it will be entertaining.

Bet they shut down the college radio station like Tech did to pay for "the Leach's" pay raise
6:21, maybe there's some artificial turf somewhere on the UT campus, but it's not in the stadium. Real grass.

The Longhorn football program is indeed a moneymaking operation.

Here's hoping the Horns "Roll" the Tide.
No, he didn't cure cancer but, I hear he's brilliant at giving therapy to HATERS.
