Hey folks, this economy did NOT tank just since Obama took office in January. It took George W. Bush and crew 8 years to turn prosperity into a severe recession. Obama is trying to work out of the mess with the Republicans digging in their heels to resist all measures. The fact that oil and gas prices are down directly affects Wise Co. Many of you cried when gasoline prices approached $4 a gallon. Now you complain when the Wise gas/oil activity has gone dormant. You just can't have it both ways.
If you anti-Obama people would pull your head out of Rush Limbaugh's a$$ and wipe all of the S**t out of your eyes, you could see that the trend in the graph had started the climb back before the first of the year. Bush had set the policy and had started the bail out of his thieving buddies in the financial market before Obama every got there. You all are so stupid that you cannot ration and think for yourselves. You let lying scumbags like Carl Rove and Rush Limbaugh do your thinking and speaking for you. Pitiful!
The people that NEED to be out of work are the people that get paid from tax dollars to keep track of useless $hit like this.
And 6:45 - take off the Obamablinders, stop drinking the liberal kool-aid and go have a discussion with your end of life, Obama provided health/wellness counselor.
7:39 - Looks like the first uptick in the trend was in November of last year. Hmm, what could have happened in November of last year? Who was in charge of CONGRESS for about the last 6 years of Bush's presidency? Which branch of government makes law? Yeah, that's what I thought punk.
6:45 and 7:39... I think I speak for everyone when I say I think the Ol' blame game has run it's course. You voted for a man that promised change...well...you got it. Hang on boys, it's going to be a wild ride.
6:45 dumb ass. Have you never heard of the Community Reinvestment Act. That is the cause. It was a problem forced on the lending community by the Democrats. Senator McCain saw the economic crash coming.
Reforms proposed by Bush were blocked by Democrats in congress led by Christopher Dodd and Barny Franks.
In 2005, John McCain sponsored legislation to thwart what he later called "the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole."
"THE ECOMOMY AS A WHOLE", he said it plain and simple.
Other Parties: 1Independent; 1 Independent Democrat
Total Seats: 100
Note:Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut was reelected in 2006 as an independent candidate, and became an Independent Democrat. Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont was elected as an Independent.
Other Parties: 1 Independent; 1 Independent Democrat
Total Seats: 100
Note: Minnesota’s class 2 seat remains undecided. Senator Arlen Specter was reelected in 2004 as a Republican, and became a Democrat on April 30, 2009. Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut was reelected in 2006 as an independent candidate, and became an Independent Democrat. Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont was elected in 2006 as an Independent.
It's amazing what you can find when you do a little research.
Just a note: When someone speaks of "8 years of Bush/Republican" anything, remember the much-hyped Congressional takeover the Democrats had in 2006. In fact, here's something I posted on Nov 8, 2006 in this very forum:
"Democrats and terrorists are celebrating the Dems' win on Tuesday. So let's use some pre-election benchmarks to measure how well the Democrat-controlled Congress does the next few years:
* The stock market recently hit historic highs; * Unemployment recently fell to historic lows; * No terrorist attacks on American territory in five years; * An increase in federal tax revenues from "relatively wealthy taxpayers" (according to the New York Times), attributed by analysts to the Bush tax cuts.
That's a good enough list to measure against. Time for Democrats to shut up and put up."
So how do three years of Democrat control of Congress look today?
It's time for the "LLLDQ dumbest Statement" of the day. There were many nominees....but only one takes the cake.
"Back to the freed journalists from North Korea, it's amazing what you can accomplish when you are willing to talk with a country as opposed to simply calling them part of an "Axis of Evil."
As punishment, may the author suffer from an ingrown toe-nail for 2 weeks.
The Judge will be back tomorrow...don't be a candidate!
On an unrelated note, an aid to Obammy said that the war on terrorism was over. But he didn't say who won. Meanwhile, 5 American soldiers that were killed today were unavailable for comment.
If you think a hand shake and and a shoulder hug will change anything in North Korea and that Slickwillie had anything to do with the release you have to be the DMFIHESTCT.DAGO ps;They just got another ninety days of respite while the Dem's pat each other on the back.
8:54, read NY Times, Sept. 11, 2003, Section C, page 1. Also do your research on the proposed Federal Housing Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 that was blocked by the Democrats. Dodd had just got a $800,000 cut rate mortgage from Countrywide. His vote was bought and paid for.
By the way, I knew nothing about Wise County until the late 1980s when I was buying foreclosed real estate from the FDIC. I found a couple of deals in Wise County at the auctions. I was around for that crash and profited from it. I understand this one better than most. We professionals saw it coming for at least a decade. You are probably a dumb ass with a sub prime mortgage. It is hell when your home is worth $100,000 less than you owe on it and need to move because jobs have played out in Wise County. I might buy it when this crash hits bottom in about five years. It took the one from the 80s around 6 years to bottom out. Sorry about the long wait. A hard rain is going to fall.
The next signal testing the health of the Wise County economy will come around Sept. 1 when the schools have their enrollment numbers. When compared to the enrollment for past years we might be getting a feel for what is happening and see a big slow down in growth. I spoke with a banker last week and he reports that they have no new residential construction loans going out. No new houses means no new kids in school. No new kids in school means falling real estate values.
8:40 - I notice you "conveniently" forgot to include the breakdown numbers for the house of representatives (which initiates most bills/laws). And of your "republican" majorities in the senate there are about 8-10 RINO's who consistently voted with the Democrats, so that argument is null and void for republican senate control.
So, since this is the home of "Bootstraps!" here in Wise County, none of those people that are unemployed and getting unemployment payments, right? Don't take a handout from the govmint!!!1
No pity here...jobs are still out there. Those that don't have one are either too lazy to get off their a** to get one or too "good" to take the ones offered. No pity, no excuse.
6:15AM I was just seeing if you would dig a liitle deeper! You did!!
The One Hundred Fifth United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 1997 to January 3, 1999, during the first two years of the second administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton.
Apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Twenty-first Census of the United States in 1990. Both chambers had a Republican majority
The One Hundred Sixth United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 1999 to January 3, 2001, during the last two years of the second administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton.
The apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Twenty-first Census of the United States in 1990. Both chambers had a Republican majority
The One Hundred Seventh United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 2001 to January 3, 2003, during the final weeks of the Clinton presidency and the first two years of the George W. Bush presidency. The apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Twenty-first Census of the United States in 1990. The House of Representatives had a Republican majority, and the Senate switched majorities from Democratic to Republican and back to Democratic.
The One Hundred Eighth United States Congress was the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives from January 3, 2003 to January 3, 2005, during the last two years of the first administration of U.S. President George W. Bush.
House members were elected in the 2002 general election on November 5, 2002. Senators were elected in three classes in the 1998 general election on November 3, 1998, 2000 general election on November 7, 2000, or 2002 general election on November 5, 2002. The apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives was based on the Twenty-second Census of the United States in 2000. Both chambers had a Republican majority.
The One Hundred Ninth United States Congress was the legislative branch of the United States, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives, from January 3, 2005 to January 3, 2007, during the fifth and sixth years of George W. Bush's presidency. House members were elected in the 2004 elections on November 4, 2004. Senators were elected in three classes in the 2000 elections on November 7, 2000, 2002 elections on November 5, 2002, or 2004 elections on November 4, 2004. The apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives was based on the Twenty-second Census of the United States in 2000. Both chambers had a Republican majority, the same party as President Bush.
The One Hundred Tenth United States Congress was the meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, between January 3, 2007, and January 3, 2009, during the last two years of the second term of President George W. Bush. It was composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The apportionment of seats in the House was based on the 2000 U.S. census.
The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995. Although the Democrats held fewer than 50 Senate seats, they had an operational majority because the two independent senators caucused with the Democrats for organizational purposes.
When unemployment is up the crime rate goes up. Build more jails and prisons, hire the lawbidding unemployed into law enforcement. Reward the good, punish the bad. Problem solved

You ranked ex-Prez Slick Willie as one of our greatest Presidents.....ever....yesterday.
So, based on these numbers, where are you going to rank Prez B. O., who you so strongly supported last summer and fall?
The American people want to know....

I blame the Democrats
What did JFK do to stimulate the economy? Hint, something a Democrat would never do today. It worked.
I blame the American attitude. Myself included.

JFK cranked up one hell of a war in Vietnam, that's what he did.
Double Fake LBJ

It's amazing what you can find when you do a little research.
I blame communist community organizers, union boss thugs, trial lawyers and homosexual politicians that talk with a lisp.
8:08 - Exactly what "reforms proposed by Bush" are you speaking of????
Your boy McCain was the one that said this fall, right before the crash, that the economy was "financially sound."
Right.

Yes, that's correct: Obama/Bush and/or the Republican/Democratic Congress are directly responsible for Wise County unemployment figures.
Better comments please.
tell the wise county appraiser about the jobless rate and he will tell you no recession here Decatur went up 9.69 per cent
So, since this is the home of "Bootstraps!" here in Wise County, none of those people that are unemployed and getting unemployment payments, right? Don't take a handout from the govmint!!!1
very nice 7:13
Us Rig count:
Last Yr Today: 1,951
This Yr: 948
Nat Gas:

Pretty simple.
10:07, looks like Wise County school enrollment will be down this fall. And fewer home buyers out there.
