(Or just a picture of it that I stole off Facebook.)
But, according to reports, that thing is almost filled up with little pooches already. And you know what that means. Dum De Dum Dum.

Do they have German Shepherds serving as the guard dogs?
What's the over/under on how many posts it takes to turn this one into a conservative/liberal argument?
If that animal shelter is already underfunded and they are going to be killing those dogs anyway, how about if we sell "hunting" permits and turn them loose inside a "game" ranch and let people kill them. That would raise a lot of money.
Come to think of it, that idea would work well for our prison system as well
2:52 Comment on prisoners being used as live prey...it would appear that my 70 year old Father, though antiquated in his thoughts, has somehow learned to navigate the net and found his way to this particular blog. What were the odds? So much for tolerance.
3:17...seems as though your father has a similar mindset as most of the country and would be upset with himself had he known he taught you "tolerance". Even your father knows "tolerance" was the downfall of this nation.
All that tolerance has created the most massive and expensive prison system in the history of mankind and an overflow of violent repeat offenders who threaten the well-being of innocent people daily and cause a lot of global warming.
You don't have much of a sense of humor son. You must have been adopted. Did you vote for Obama?
I got my previous dog from the old shelter, and she was the best dog and I was very saddened when she passed away. I now have another dog (with ADD)and I would not trade her for anything, but if I was in the market to adopt an animal I would get one from a shelter. Throw-away dogs make the best pets.

Tolerance created prisons. Well, welcome to 1984 readers.
For the record, most of the animal over-population problem is the direct result of losers like the people who get their kids pets for Christmas and then dump them after it pisses on the carpet a few times. It's got nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with humans just being lazy, irresponsible, thoughtless losers. Not that anybody reading this has done that.
Well, all I know is I took my Kirby to Harris on the square, bought some music stuff while there, and then stopped by the Decatur pet store....didn't buy anything, just looked around, and totally enjoyed that bird that kept saying hello. It was such a great pleasure!
"most of the animal over-population problem is the direct result of losers like the people who get their kids pets for Christmas and then dump them after it pisses on the carpet a few times."
That, and people who refuse to neuter their "he's nice to everyone" pitbull that isn't kept fenced.
Looks like another few million might be on tap for the Commissioners to revamp this new building again. Seems they are good about spending tons on stuff that is not up to snuff on today's standards.
Well thank whoever that we finally got an animal shelter. It's looks great. We got one of our pets from one.I am a\pretty tough old B and I can't go to one without tearing up.We could turn them over to P E T A where they kill ninety seven % the first day.We could send then to north Korea;we know they love dogs.Had a friend that was over there, saw a man cleaning one,and not with soap and water.DAGO
And still...try calling them to pickup a dog dumped in the county. They tell you, "Maybe tomorrow." Three days later the poor dog is still roaming around, confused, wondering why his former master dropped him off...
Which brings me to my next point. PEOPLE: Don't drive out to my house to dump your dog; drive to the new animal shelter and drop the dog! Sheesh!
And for you animal lovers, I feed and water them all until I either personally find a home or until the dog makes it to the shelter. Of course, I did have to scrape a beautiful cat off the road in front of my house last week. I'm fighting an uphill battle.
Now that we FINALLY have a beautiful shelter, we should go one step further and make it a "no kill" shelter. I'm not exactly sure how those work, but I do know there are hundreds of them around the country. I think they trade out animals after so many months of non adoption in one facility. The thinking there is that maybe someone in another area might want them, and I believe it is very successful.
Also, Petfinder.com should be the next step. ALL animals up for adoption should be listed on this website and any others that will help. Bowie, Bport, Paradise (our neighbors) have their animals on petfinder. I hope that one of those who works in the shelter is assigned the job to make sure these animals are listed on this website. It is very popular and many many many adoptions occur from it.
To those of you on here who suggest just shooting the animals: Shame on you! Maybe mankind should also decide to shoot people who have ugly attitudes like you do. You are vermin and most likely you have never been productive in your community or even helpful to your neighbors.
Thanks to our sheriff and the commissioners for a job well done, so far. However, there is more that can be done (petfinder.com) and I do hope to see those further improvements.
I think the new shelter is great, and I hope anyone wanting a great pet will save those poor pups from death. It saddens me way more to think of an innocent animal put to death than a lazy deadbeat not having health insurance. I'll take the dog any day, as they are way better than most people I know, especially those who ask for hand-outs.
Thank you 8:35 for your comments. I was trying to find a way to put these wonderful animals before the public. As for the comments by others about prisoners, there is now a program where inmates train animals as service animals for those with disabilities. It's good to see that there is still goodness in this world.
And shame on you 3:41. Your comments are so wrong!!
Here's another idea. Barry, when the shelter get's a website (hopefully they already have one) you need to put that link up on your WiseCounty directory. :-)
6:02, that is GREAT news!! But PLEASE always include pics of the animals and a write up about each. I've seen so many "pets" advertised, but there is no pic or any kind of "emotional" description to go along. Those are essential to successful adoptions. THANK YOU for all you are doing for these animals! One of these days after I retire and have more time, I hope to volunteer out at the new shelter.

I could have saved Wise county how ever much money y'all spent on that building.
Here in Oklahoma we have target practice instead of wasting money.
BTW....you libs are fags!!!
That looks like an awesome place for the critters they can get lucky and be adopted.
Anyone that uses the word "racist" has immediately lost me.

Why couldn't we house Terrorists here or somethin?

No one would adopt one of them and then they would have to be euthanized--violating their civil rights of which they have none???

I wish the animal shelter well!

Wow. Xanthippas is a positive dude, huh? I'm sure he's a hoot at parties.
Nice attitude.

Too many scumbags comment on this blog. It's a useless public forum.

That'll be helpful! Thanks!
The shelter has started its registration with petfinder and it should also be up and running by end of next week.
The shelter is also utilizing inmates to help with whatever needs to be done.
