The Homecoming

If you get to watch any of the coverage of the return of the two journalists from North Korea to the U.S. this morning, do it. “Thirty hours ago, Euna Lee and I were prisoners in North Korea. We feared that at any moment we could be sent to a hard labor camp. And then suddenly we were told that we were going to a meeting. We were taken to a location and when we walked through the doors, we saw standing before us President Bill Clinton. We were shocked, but we knew instantly in our hearts that the nightmare of our lives was finally coming to an end." If you can free yourself from juvenile comments about Clinton for a moment, can you imagine the elation you would have felt to see him standing there? And can you imagine the feeling of simply being home?

But Slick Willie really goes for those juveniles too!!!

Clinton was really our first black President. Damn, he's smoooooth.

Nincompoops! Why would you EVEN get close to the border of N Korea. No GPS?.No maps? No Guides?
Dumb, just dumb!

I was thinking the exact same thing Barry. What a feeling that must have been.

Anonymous said...

I can honestly say I would have been glad to see him.

....and at my news statement I would have thanked the powers that be and said "it will be curious to see exactly how much Bill had to do with it".

I also don't have any sympathy for "journalist" who ventures into unsafe countries. Dumb.

Clinton finally found a replacement for Monica Samille Lewinsky. Reminds me of the movie Deliverance.

I think that must have been the most amazing thing in the world for any individual...seeing a U.S. President after being detained in a communist prison.

after reading the first comment, it makes me feel like an idiot for reading the same blog as people who care more about juvenile comments than true, human freedom.

As long as we recognize that Bill Clinton didn't accomplish anything himself. He was the errand boy, and the only one who had the free time to fly to Pyongyang. North Korea had worked itself out onto a ledge diplomatically, and was looking for a way out. Having said all that, it's great when Americans make it back home. Let's see how the hikers, who don't have the clout of working in the media, fare in Iranian hands.

Anonymous said...

wordkyle....you just can't let it go...always an excuse or comment.

You think he had his own room in the plane with those two girls?
I bet they a great time. Mile-high club.......giggity.

They said there was a strong head-wind on the way home.

You finally nailed one, Barry.
"Juvenile" and "Clinton" go hand-in-hand.

Anonymous said...

I would have been elated to see ant American at that point.....then again I would rather go hang deerstands than stir around in a communist asian country.

"If you can free yourself from juvenile comments about Clinton..."

Why? At what point did he 'free himself' from disgracing the office of the president?

Anonymous said...

Absolutely. Now, note to young journalists. If you're going to wander around the border between two countries who represent a global hotspot of bitterness and unrest, check your map.

Give Pres. Clinton a little credit for being a former US President that has international prestige in the world - among both our allies and our enemies. Sure, North Korea used it for propaganda, but it was a worthy trade.

The North Koreans did ask for Clinton to be the envoy, & Pres. Obama agreed.

I don't understand the harsh, unappreciative attitude toward journalists who risk their lives to bring news to us from dangerous places.

Anonymous said...

This should be one of those unifying moments for this nation. As evidenced by the knee-jerk comments on here, it is not.

What has happened to us?

Anonymous said...

For whatever reason, two people were freed. For all you condemners, as Dick H. Cheny would say: Go Fys.

832 - Sorry, I tried leaving a movie theater here once, and leaving an ex-wife here another time, then someone pointed out that this is the comments area. Since then, I stick with leaving comments. What do you leave here?

I've expressed joy that the Americans were freed. But who will deceive themselves into believing that Bill Clinton actually did anything? The stench of a new Clinton myth, that he did somethng heroic to free American prisoners, is building momentum among the Democrat illiterati.

How DARE those North Koreans act as if they have dominion over North Korean territory.

President Clinton was in office for 8 years of the most impressive is US History. Economically, we dominated (Sure it was Reagan). He handled very deftly the Republican congress, doing a little giving and taking, to get a Budget that was actually in the Black, we turned a profit. N. Korea tested a nuclear triggering device in 1993, Clinton was the president, went into foreign relations mode that was something other than a BOMB and 150,000 troops (George W. foreign relation policy) and by giving them some rice and beans, they were good and stopped tunneling into S. Korea, stopped Nuclear development and they were actually entertaining foreign tourists. Bush comes in and just calls them Axis of Evil threatens what minimal living Experience they have and they are backed into a corner (HELLO NUKES BIAATCH). Should have just kept feeding them rice and some OIL, let them hold their little parades and all good. Threaten them with death from above and they only have one option to fight back. NUKES, kidnapping and terror. All this and I am a republican. President CLinton is/was and will be for some time the freaking man. Bringing shame to the WHite House, nothing compared to the idiot George (I never saw a coattail I couldn't ride) Bush did. I would taker a man who would get a BJ , before I would take a moron, who spent almost a year on vacation during his 8 years of presidency.

Kyle Word reminds me of a teenage boy...thinks he knows so much only to find out he wasn't as smart as he thought he was. But, we need people like him in the world. How else can we measure logic and reasoning without his kind? He is the type that reads, listens to, and watches that which affirms his beliefs. He has an elevated sense of self-love. It is good for him and makes it easier for him to address his personal shortcomings. Don't be critical of the man. He is a lonely guy from west Texas. Embrace his rudimentary ways for what they are.

OH, PPLEEAAASEEE can't you negative people rejoice in bringing home two young women to their families. Would you really have rathered they spent 12 years in hard labor, possibly dying at the hands of North Koreans
just so you can say " I told you so" .......I say thank you Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, President Obama and any one else who took part in this joyous occasion.

If we had not gone after them and refused any talk with Iran about the others it would be a long time before anyone else would make a stupid (mistake ?)I do not think it was and is anymore than I think Billy had anything to do with their release. He keeps screwing around and we'll get a few thousand more of someone's usless people like the peanut farmer did.Makes me want to puke.DAGO

They were allowed to call their families and told them that their captives only wanted Bill Clinton to come. So, I would imagine they were elated to see him and as one said as they touched American soil when they saw him in North Korea in their hearts they knew they were to be freed. How callous you are.

That second asian gal in that first picture peed her pants. I wonder if the crazy Koreans or Bill caused her to do that.

Believe you me...the only humans on the face of the earth that decided the chinese girls come to American were the North Koreans. Don't your president or William J. Clinton had anything to do with it.

In my mind...if you are dumb enough to cross that border you deserve 10 years in a NK prison camp. Dumb dumb dumb.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

It would have been better if Clinton had went there and the reporters were still sent to a labor prison camp instead of being freed. We could add more to how bad and sorry Bill Clinton is. NeoConservaPuggopukes would have rather had failure if Slick was involved. They would rejoice a lot more about failure than getting them released. For the Hard Ones, those two ladies being set free was a defeat. So it goes in the Republican hate everything way of thinking.

I am a very conservative republican that is very appreciative of what Bill Clinton has done. I have put aside my party affiliation to see that these 2 ladies needed help. It's as simple as that. I know Bill Clinton didn't DO any of the negotiations, etc. to have them freed. But, N. Korea requested him and he gave of his time to go help out fellow Americans. I didn't have too many good words to say of Bill Clinton as President, but this was truly a selfless thing that he did this week.

I am taken back by those of you who are so quick to say you have no simpathy for these ladies after they made the decision to cross over into N. Korea. I for one and glad that I have a circle of friends and family who, when I make a bad choice or decision, do not stand over me pointing their fingers telling me I deserve what I got. If that were your wife or daughter, would you feel the same way?

I cried today as I watched the news coverage of Euna Lee kneeling down to hug her 4 year old daughter. No matter what you think of how this was handled, tonight that little girl will have her mommy to tuck her in bed! As the mother of a 4 year old little girl, that means the world to me.

One of the most interesting things about reading this blog is how easy liberals "take the bait". They can't wait to point out how stupid conservatives are but the minute someone posts a thoughtful, reasoned comment, they go onto the next subject so they can call someone a neocon. I would bet quite a bit that most who use that term, have no idea what it means but they are fairly sure it is derogatory. Liberals consider conservatives sheep while they have their nose so far up Obama's butt they have lost all sense of reason. The poster above tooting Clinton's horn about the budget needs to revisit the facts. The budget passed barely resembled Clinton's proposed budget. In the end, the budget passed by the republican congress proved disastrous. The slashing of the military forced us to "double up to catch up" when our country was threatened. While we prospered economically during Clinton's term, we will pay for many years to come.

Anonymous said...

Do you liberal idiots really think Clinton had ANYTHING to do with the economy when he was Pres?

If so, name three things. I will wait....

It was the Repub congress that finally wrote a balanced budget.

But much more than that, it was four MAJOR business sectors coming on line or expanding.

PCs
software
internet
communications

These sectors spawned hundreds of new companies, hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and an incredible amount of new tax revenue.

The best you can say is he did not raise taxes to kill the upward spiral.

Bill Gates did more for the economy during his administration than Bill Clinton.

Please do not lie about the bastard's "economy" anymore.

Steve Jobs

It is disgusting how Lunatic Leftist Liberals swoon when there is a national media circle jerk including past POTUS Clinton and past VPOTUS Gore when two 1/2 arsed Loony Leftist Liberal journalists from a 1/2 arsed "Internet media outlet" return to the U.S. after having been convicted for illegally entering a HOSTILE COMMUNIST country but there is NO media coverage or swooning Lunatic Leftist Liberals greeting U.S. troops returning from war. I can assure you, the troops returning from the wars were in far more peril than Ling and Lee and do not need to "imagine the feeling of simply being home". I find it beyond hypocritical when ANYONE attempts to aggrandize the return of Ling and Lee.

Do I care that two morons who committed a CRIME against a HOSTILE COMMUNIST nation have returned to the States?...Hell NO! Do I think the two morons are fortunate and am glad they have been returned to the U.S. no worse for the wear?...Hell, YES!

What bothers me is that Ling and Lee will probably write a book and be heralded as heroes by elitist Loony Leftist Liberals when they are in fact IDIOTS.

The Ling-Lee incident is further proof that Lunatic Leftist Liberals live in their own little vacuous world of BS.

Associated Press: "Bill Clinton undertook the mission, a senior administration official said, only after the North assured the White House that the reporters would be freed and allowed to return home with the former president.

"Daniel Sneider, associate director of research at Stanford University's Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, said the journalists' release followed weeks of quiet negotiations between the State Department and the North Korean mission to the United Nations. Clinton 'didn't go to negotiate this, he went to reap the fruits of the negotiation,' Sneider said."

mzchief said...

To anonymous 11:08...
AHEM!....
The U.S. lead coalition did not illegally invade Iraq. The U.S. lead coalition invaded Iraq in 2003 because Saddam Hussein refused to adhere to U.N. Security Committee sanctions. Saddam Hussein agreed to the sanctions as part and parcel to ending the first U.S. lead Gulf War to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi forces.

Incidentally, every high ranking DEMOCRAT from Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and Joe Biden said, beginning in 1998-2003 the U.S. needed to invade Iraq. Watch the VIDEO and LEARN FACTS. Back away from MSN and THINK FOR YOURSELF.
It really pisses me off when you people make me defend that buffoon, "W" and the GOP jerks.

The reason Rick Perry did not accept Federal Bail-out funds is because Perry did not want to FOREVER obligate the state of Texas to future UNFUNDED Federally mandated programs.

KUDOS TO RICK PERRY for protecting Texas from BIG GOVERNMENT.

If you do indeed read at a minimum of a 4th grade level and have minimal comprehension of the English language, you will notice that my kudos were directed for Perry's singular act of protecting Texas from BIG GOVERNMENT. I completely agree with you that it was a blessing that the MORONIC Trans-Texas Corridor scheme died before too much harm was caused. I have NEVER been a fan of the Bible thumping, political whore commonly referred to as Governor Goodhair.

As for my opinion regarding ANY civilian who enters a foreign country and violates the laws of that foreign country; they should be prosecuted and punished according to the laws of the country whose laws were violated and should not expect or receive ANY official intervention by the U.S. government. Christian missionaries who enter a Muslim country where it is FORBIDDEN by Sharia law to proselytize on behalf of Christianity should expect to be punished according to Sharia law.

Incidentally, you and other Loony Leftist Liberals, continually, using the defense of; Bush did it and Republicans did it in an attempt to justify democrats committing the SAME MISDEEDS makes me wonder about what happened to the "Hope and Change" and the claims that Obama was a different type of politician. Obama and the democrats promised the public something different than Bush and the republicans but Obama and the democrats are proving to be WORSE than "W" and the GOP.

Anonymous said...

Many of you are so quick to judge and condemn these ladies and say that because they made the mistake of crossing over they deserve to rot in jail. You say this because it is not your loved one sitting in that foreign jail! Grow up and extend the compassion you would want IF it had been your loved one.

I'm so glad I am surrounded by a circle of friends and family that when I screw up and do something totally stupid, they embrace me with forgiveness and love. Not throw me out to the wolves and say 'May you rot in hell for being so stupid!'

mzchief said...

To anonymous 9:47...
I said NOTHING about family and friends abandoning people who commit crimes in foreign countries. However, it is INCREDIBLY arrogant for Americans to believe they have the RIGHT to violate the laws of other nations and then DEMAND the U.S. government do something to circumvent the laws of a foreign country.

I cannot help but wonder if you would be sooooo understanding of a male Taiwanese tourist who came to the States and, being unaware of U.S. law, bought and paid for sex with a 12 year old girl. Afterall, it's perfectly LEGAL in his country. How comfortable would YOU be with his family and the Taiwan government getting involved and demanding he be set free and avoiding ALL punishment for his "crime" because he just made a mistake because he did not know better.
