More of a Decatur, cliqueish reunion, than a Wise County Old Settlers Reunion.

All looks the same as it did 40 years ago.....just new faces enjoying the gatherings. No one would believe how those little "shacks" come to life during this one week. I've taken friends to the grounds when reunion wasn't going on and tried to explain how the place "TRANSFORMS" during reunion time. They never get it. I used to enjoy the reunion and seeing friends there. Now, I'm old, the place is HOT and dusty and a new generation has yet again taken the place of my old friends' faces. Time marches on, but this door is a closed one to me now. I do hope though that the new generations will enjoy the reunion week as much as my generation did.
