Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • Slowest news day ever yesterday? Fox 4 told me "The Red Cross needs donations" about 10,000 times.
  • Not sure what happened to the truck that I thought was jack-knifed onto a train track off of 287 yesterday. Maybe it was just "close" to the track.
  • The Wise County Reunion has never appealed to me like it does a lot of people. I've just never been a "sit around and hang out" kind of guy.
  • My crazy dreams are back. Last night I had two separate ones where old acquaintances. were out to get me -- violently.
  • On my first night of vacation, I spent 30 minutes dreaming I was in my office looking for a file. It was very vivid.
  • Fort Worth motorcycle death.
  • The "text us what you think" cell phone polls on local TV news drive me nuts. (i.e. Do you think Michael Vick should be reinstated to the NFL? Text "yes" to ....)
  • I've about decided that HBO's Entourage isn't that good.
  • Worth watching today: Competing demonstrations by the Black Panthers and Ku Klux Klan in Paris, Texas.
  • There would be few things more terrifying than to be Bowe Bergdahl, the soldier being held by the Taliban. And I have no idea how this is going to end.
  • TABC, Game Wardens, and Task Forces (when they used to exist) always seemed to be too aggressive.
  • This was in Fort Worth?
  • Fancy coffee drinks illustrated.
  • Channel 5's "Stormtracker H3", which is nothing more than a bad camera mounted on the dash of a vehicle driving around the metroplex, is a silly idea.
  • Saw where Northwest's new Byron Nelson High School has an indoor football practice facility with artificial turf. Decatur? Bridgeport? You gonna put up with that?

Do you know what all the events are for reunion?

Bowe Bergdahl walked, unarmed, out of the safety net of a military base into enemy territory Think about this). This is against the rules. The minimum he will face, if he makes it back, will be a court marshal. Looks like he might be a traitor (hero to you liberals) or is just insane.

I heard all of the cowboys signed up for the bareback riding competition, but no horses were used. Weird.

Barry, don't you worry, Decatur will not be out done. Even in these harsh economic times the Decatur Eagles football faithful will not let the synthetic turf opportunity pass them by.......

From the July 10, 2009 Update: EAGLE STADIUM'S FUTURE - The decision to move forward with synthetic turf for the field at Eagle Stadium will have to wait at least another month. The Decatur School Board last night heard a report from a committee formed to evaluate the stadium and recommend improvements. Phase 1 as recommended by the committee would include installing the turf and fencing around the entire stadium at an estimated cost of $1.5 million. Board members asked Superintendent Gary Gindt to have an architect begin making plans for the installation of synthetic turf with the understanding that any decision to move forward with funding the project would come after the board adopts next year's budget.

Channel 5 morning traffic will show pictures of traffic moving along at speed limit, yet say "you can see all the congestion"...etc. It's as if they aren't watching. This morning you are right, it was plain silly to cut to some person cruising down the road, no apparent congestion or traffic. The white lines were clicking by as she was talking about all the imaginary congestion.

In Madison several of the high school (rivals even) share one football field that is used for FB, soccer and track meets. Since the dang things are used so rarely isn't this a more LOGICAL use of tax payers money..........I know in Texas that would never happen.

what events will you be competing in at the homorodeo?
brokeback "bareback"
"steer" wrestling

Why are gays always shirtless and hairy? Any insight, BG?

How can you say HBO's Enterage is not that good? I figured you would be a huge fan of all the hot females that appear in the episodes. And who doesn't love Mark Whalberg? Seriously....you just disapointed me.

Barry, I was just wondering if you were going to be selling any other type of dog besides those Pekinese ones you were selling awhile back in front of your law office.

Rumor has it you’re going to start selling poodles in the near future. I may want one if you are. Please let us know.

Buddy, if you’re in need of some money why didn’t you let all of us know. I know tons of people who would jump at the chance to help you during these hard times.

Indoor practice field? Sounds like we are going to have go and get some more sand nigger doctors and engineers since our kid can run fast and jump high, but cannot score high enough to compete on the medical school entrance exams. How many kids could be sent to four years of college with the money being spent on that facility?

Garry, why would you put a picture of hunky brewster on here?

We do not NEED turf. Grass fields are fine. It's just one of those feathers in the cap of the athletic director.

Sorry to say, 8:49 only skimmed the story on Bergdahl. Add Alcohol and who knows what else. Very bad decision on his part. You can get away with that in a non combat area most of the time, but not in Afghanistan. I think we will see a gente downplay of this from our side and an escalation from the terrorist rats. Pray for Bowe.

Now I finally know what I'm drinking at "Starbucks" damn, I thought it had alcohol in it!

The first couple of seasons of entourage were really innovative and compelling. The last couple of seasons have been very mediocre, and the start to this one has been no different. It's pretty much Sex in the City for boys now.

I am not a sit around and hang out kind of guy either, but I love binge drinking, cooking out, random sex, vandalism, gambling, smoking pot, and playing 42. I love Reunion.

Entourage is probably the best guy show on the tube...but I guess you are probably more into the Lifetime network.

For that matter, I don't see that we NEED football. My life is going just great without giving any form of football a second thought.

Decatur needs a new location for a new field since all schools are spread out we could prob put it over on 287 oh but the treatment plant might smell, oh it dont smell

"There would be few things more terrifying than to be Bowe Bergdahl, the soldier being held by the Taliban."

Careful with the rhetoric there; one would almost think you are calling those holding him "terrorists". And that my friend, would be politically incorrect.

havent watched the new season yet, but Entourage is greatness....
